Dollish Polish Putting On The Ritzzz

Hi guys! Today I have another awesome black and white glitter to show you! This one is from Dollish Polish and it's called Putting On The Ritzzz! It's packed with black and white hex glitter in multiple sizes along with a ton of tiny black glitter in a clear base. If you don't like bar glitter this is the black and white glitter for you! I really love this polish, you get a lot of glitter payoff with 1 coat which is always a big plus for me.

I used 1 coat of Putting On The Ritzzz over Nicole by OPI Nothing Kim-pares to Blue for the photos below. The first 2 photos are in the sun and the second 2 are in the shade!

Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light

TGIF!! Hope you're all having a good day so far! Today I have a gorgeous new Deborah Lippmann polish to show you guys! A while back a picture of Deborah's 4 spring shades made it's way online and the bottle shot of this one was absolutely incredible. I feel like I've been waiting a billion years for it to finally get released, when I heard it was on HSN's website last week I hauled butt over to their site as fast as my fingers could type and bought it.

Ray of Light is red/green/yellow flakies in a dark navy base. Inside it sometimes looks like it leans a little bit purple but for the most part it looks dark blue. This is actually not at all what I expected it to be from that photo that was all over the place. In that photo it looked like a navy jelly with copper flakes. While I was a little sad that it wasn't that I am absolutely loving what Ray of Light turned out to be. Give me a navy jelly and I'll be happy, put flakies in it too and I might lose my mind. The formula on my bottle was a tiny bit thick, I ended up putting a few drops of thinner in it and it was perfection. It was also nice and opaque, I used 2 coats for the photos below. I love that the base is nice and opaque but the flakies still really stand out!

Nicole by OPI Wel-Kim To My World Collection Swatches!

Happy Thursday! Today I have swatches of more additions to Nicole by OPI's Kardashian Kolors line to show you guys. These must be a huge success for Nicole by OPI with the way the keep adding to the collection! These 6 new polishes are all inspired by Kim, hence the collection name...Wel-Kim To My World! The polish names in this collection make me cringe a tiny bit but I really like a few of the shades! Hope you guys do also!

Cover Band Sticks 'n Stones

Happy hump day! Today I have a special polish to show you, this created quite a stir in our little community a little while back but that's not why it's special for me. This polish was one I had unsuccessfully tried to buy a few times then it unexpectedly arrived at my house on Saturday as a surprise from a lovely reader named Tina. I could not believe my eyes when I opened the package and saw Stick 'n Stones along with 2 Nail-Venturous polishes. It is probably the most thoughtful, nice surprise I have ever received. Big thank you to Tina and my lovies at Ninja Polish <3

Sticks 'n Stones is a mix of black and white glitter in a clear base. There is also a tiny bit of iridescent glitter mixed in, you can't see it in my photos but you could see it sparkle a little in person! This created a stir because it's the closest dupe we've seen to the infamous and impossible to get Lynnderella Connect The Dots. It's not an exact dupe but it's pretty close, if you want to see them side by side My Lucid Bubble did a great comparison that you can check out here. She also included Dollish Polish Putting On the Ritzzz which is like the non bar glitter version of these polishes, I'll have swatches of that beauty up sometime this week (or maybe early next week)! Formula wise Sticks 'n Stones was a little thick, it was easy to apply but I would advise giving the bottle a good shake before you apply it so that it's easier to get a lot of glitter on the brush. I used 1 coat of Sticks & Stones over Zoya Jancyn for the photos below.

NOTD: Fuzzy Nail Sweaters

Yes people, I have reached a new low for weird/creepy/gross texture you can put on a nail. If you didn't like that caviar mani from yesterday you will really not like this. I like to think of this as so bad that it's actually pretty awesome, in a wtf kind of way. Often while I'm walking through Michaels I think "could I somehow stick that on my nail" nope, I'm not being sarcastic...I really do think that. I saw today's mani inspiration next to the micro beads and thought, that is going to look so weird sprinkled on my nails...I have to try it!

So what is it? It's flocking powder...I have no idea what this is used for in terms of crafting but when you put it on the nail it looks like you have little fuzzy sweaters on your nails. What is better than a nail with a fuzzy sweater on it? Nothing, duh! This is not for everyone but not going to lie, I'm kind of loving it. Is this practical...no, but it's fun! If I ever go to a Katy Perry concert I think I might actually do this again, it would actually be appropriate at that kind of event. Once this is dry it feels weird, I thought it would be soft but it's kind of rough...I think that's my only disappointment with this texture experiment.

My fuzzy sweaters are applied over a blue polish, you can't tell on the blue nails but it peeks out a little under the pink. Also, the blue nails kind of make me think of the cookie monster...they look like his fur in a strange way. I hope I'm not the only one thinking that haha

Fuzzy Nail Sweater close up....YEAAAAAAAH BUDDY (please read that in a Pauly D voice)

To do this mani it's pretty much exactly the same as my Caviar mani from yesterday. I applied a coat of top coat to the mani I already had on and while it was wet I sprinkled the flocking powder on. If you do this do it over a plate or paper towel, it is messy. I lightly shook the excess off the nail and gently tapped the fuzz onto the nail to make sure it stuck. To get off any excess after the tapping I lightly blew on my nail...warning don't do that near the plate you just used to catch the excess sprinkled fuzz...the fuzz get's everywhere (yes, I learned that the hard way lol).

I tried this with a top coat just to see if that would look cool and it's a giant fail...if you try this avoid top coat over your fuzz. Obviously this is like a 1 night only kind of manicure, water does affect it and it also looks less fluffy as the night goes on. But really, would you wear this for more than a night? No, probably not! Now I haven't tried removing this yet...I'm still wearing it, but I think it will be pretty easy if done the same way as the caviar mani from yesterday.

The Look for Less: Ciate's Caviar Manicure

Hi guys! Today I have something a little different for you! If you've ever been on Pinterest looking at manicure photos I'm guessing you've seen Ciate's "Caviar" manicure before. Basically it's microbeads stuck to your nail. Ciate will be selling duos with a base polish and a bottle of the microbeads to create the look. The duo they will be selling is pretty pricey, when it makes it to Sephora I heard it will be around $25. Yesterday I tweeted about how ridiculous that price tag was and a couple people asked for a tutorial on how to get the same look so here is it!

If you've been reading my blog for a while you might have seen me do something similar to this before, back in December I did a post with an accent nail done up with microbeads. If you missed that post you can see it here! Pretty much all you need is the polish of your choice and microbeads which can be purchased at craft stores like Michael's and a bottle of polish which I'm guessing you already have haha!

Here is my finished "caviar" look, the Ciate version does look to have some blue and purple beads in it also but that can be easily achieved by mixing microbeads. You can buy the beads in packs of 6 colors for pretty cheap...I have all that info at the bottom of the post!

Haze Glaze Swatches!

Good morning! Today I have some pretty polishes from an indie brand called Haze Glaze to show you! Haze Glaze is sold on etsy and she makes some very pretty glitters! I hope you guys like them!

Angel Flakes is a coppery flakie in a clear base. Out of the 4 Haze Glaze polishes I have to show you to this is my favorite, I love flakies! These flakies don't have much of a duochrome to them but I think that's why I like them! I used 1 coat of Angel Flakes over Essie No More Film for the photo below.

Dollish Polish I'm A Material Girl & Sephora by OPI It's My Pink

TGIF!! Today I have 2 polishes to show you guys, originally I was going to post these in 2 separate posts but then I decided to just post them together instead!

First up is actually the end result! Dollish Polish I'm A Material Girl is a polish I bought a little while back and had been searching for the right base polish to put it over. It's pretty in the bottle but I wasn't happy with it when I tried to wear it on it's own. It's a bit on thick side and I needed 3 coats to get it opaque enough to be happy with it. With that many coats it just didn't look right. Bummer right, but good news, it looks great layered!

I'm A Material Girl is a very sheer light pink base packed with small pink glitter, a couple sizes of black and white hex glitter and large black square glitter. I actually bought this because it reminded me of my Lynnderella Connect the Dots over Essie Tour De Finance mani I posted a little while back. I ended up really liking this combo and will definitely be wearing a version of it again, I need to get a full sized bottle of I'm A Material Girl when it's back. I used 1 coat of I'm A Material Girl over Sephora by OPI It's My Pink for the first 2 photos! Just a warning, this did eat top coat. I used a coat of Gelous followed by a coat of Seche Vite to get it smooth!

It might be a little while before this polish is available again from Dollish Polish, it's sold out for now :( Make sure you check out Dolly's etsy for all the latest news about when she will be open and the availability of certain shades!

Alright, so this is my base color for the mani above...Sephora by OPI It's My Pink. This is from the Betsey Johnson Collection. I was SO excited for that collection, but what a huge let down it ended up being. If you haven't seen it please let me describe it for you in one word....boring. I had decided not to get anything from the collection but then the cute box this one came in suckered me into buying it (I have no self control, clearly!).

It's My Pink is a nice hot pink creme, nothing to write home about but it's pretty. It's also scented with Betsey's Too Too Perfume. I've never smelled her perfume prior to this but after smelling this polish I can guarantee I will not be buying it haha! The scent was a bit overpowering for me, to the point of making me nauseous when my hands would get near my face. The scent was strong enough to withstand the Dollish Polish over it and 2 coats of top coat...it wasn't nearly as strong then but I could still smell it. Formula wise it was nice, I used 2 coats. Unfortunately for me I'll probably never wear this polish again, I'll just be admiring it in it's pretty box on my desk!

One last thing...I noticed when I pulled the brush out of It's My Pink that Sephora by OPI has changed their brush. Not sure how recent the change is but last time I bought a polish from them it didn't have this wide brush.

For the photo below the brush on the left is an older Sephora by OPI polish ( it's Hell To The No, if you're wondering), the brush on the right is It's My Pink. I really like the change...the new brush isn't super wide but it sure makes applying the polish easier, at least for me!

BB Couture Audrey

Hi guys! Today I have a pretty BB Couture polish to show you called Audrey, it's from BB Couture's Classic Hollywood Divas Collection! As soon as Kim from Overall Beauty posted a picture of the polishes from this collection I went OMG need, Audrey is the only one I've bought so far but I'm sure I'll be picking up a couple more to go along with it!

Audrey is a pale sunny yellow jelly packed with glitter, there is small silver glitter in there and bar glitter also in the mix! In my photos the bar glitter looks silver but in real life it's a bit iridescent, it's not in your face but you can see it out in the sun! You can see what I mean about the bar glitter in bottle of the second photo! I really really like this polish, I don't have anything quite like it and I love a good yellow. Only thing I'm missing is the very fine pin point glitter that BB Couture uses in a lot of their polishes, I think my head might have exploded if they had thrown some of that in here also haha! The formula was a bit thick...but the good kind of thick. It applied like a dream, not streaky or troublesome...I was kind of shocked about that! It was surprisingly opaque, I used 2 coats for the photos below. In the photos you can sort of see my nail line but in real life you couldn't, stupid macro!

OPI NYC Ballet Soft Shades 2012 Collection Swatches!

Morning! Today I have OPI's New York City Ballet Collection to show you! This serves as OPI's Soft Shades Collection for 2012. It brings us 5 new soft sheer polishes and one seriously awesome glitter. Usually I am not a fan of sheer polishes, before these I owned maybe 2....possibly only 1 actually. I don't really care for how my nails look naked so sheers are just not something I've ever gravitated towards. I always envy girls with pretty smile lines who can make sheer polish look amazing, I wish they looked like that on me! Surprisingly even though I don't love sheer polishes I really like this collection...go figure! I may be a fan of sheers after these (omg who the heck am I right now, wow lol)!

Essie Resort 2012 Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! Today I have Essie's Resort Collection for 2012 to show you guys! I think this collection might be called the Sure Shot Collection since that's what it said on the display but I have no idea if that's right!  I saw this in Target a few weeks back and didn't realize they were new colors at first, they didn't catch my eye at all. Then I saw them again at my beauty supply store and snatched up all 4! It's not the most exciting collection ever but there are a couple gems in here!

China Glaze Liquid Crystal

Good morning! Today I have one of the polishes from China Glaze's Prismatic Collection to show you guys! Liquid Crystal is a mix of small glitter that has a blue purple duochrome and medium sized multicolored glitter. This is very very different than what I thought it would be, I was so let down by this collection once swatches started popping up. The good news is these are much better in real life, photos don't really do any justice to them (at least not the 2 that I have!)

I saw someone on Make Up Alley put the Prismatic polishes over black and was kind of blown away by how gorgeous they are that way....so that's how I'm showing you Liquid Crystal, over black! I feel like over black these look so much better, it helps bring out the duochrome in the glitter. The formula was on the thick side, it is extremely dense glitter wise so that's why. Despite the thickness it was easy to apply. I used 1 coat over black for the photos below, yep....1 coat, see what I mean about very dense glitter! In real life the blue/purple duochrome is much more noticeable, it doesn't photograph well at all :( My only complaint about these is that multicolored glitter...I don't like it. I like this but I would have liked it more without that, it takes away from the awesome duochrome glitter!

The Prismatic Collection from China Glaze will be available at all the normal places China Glaze is sold (Ulta, Sally's, etc...) in April. They are already on a few of the etailers, I know I saw them on Transdesign.com the other day!

NOTD: Green & Gold Water Marble!

Happy weekend! Since today is St. Patrick's Day I decided to do something festive. I thought it would be a good idea to water marble. I love how water marbling looks, when other people do it I'm always all ohhhhh. Then when I try to do it I end up wanting to stab everything after I have the urge to throw my cup of water at the wall.

That said, I am happy with how this turned out. I only wanted to throw my cup of water at the wall once or twice. It's not perfect but the little flaws are not obvious in real life (damn you macro photos for the blog!). For the marble I used China Glaze Holly-Day, China Glaze Gaga For Green and Butter London Bumster. They all spread really well and didn't dry super fast so they were easy to marble with. For the base of this mani it was a light pink Essie (the name totally escapes me right now, sorry!). I've had the base color on for almost a week and I was too lazy to remove it since I didn't think the water marble would work lol!

Layla Hologram Effect Ultra Violet

TGIF! Anyone have fun plans this weekend, we're supposed to have crappy weather here all weekend so that means I will be snuggling with Degen and watching movies! Today I have another one of Layla's awesome hologram effect polishes to show you! This one is called Ultra Violet and it's a light purple with a super strong linear holo effect. The holo is even stronger in person than my photos are making it look! This is like China Glaze LOL but on crack...crazy awesome holographic crack!

For my base coat I used CND Toughen Up. I've been trying these Layla's out with different base coats so I can let you guys know what does and does not work with these. CND Toughen Up is NOT a good base for these holos. It's not horrible, I certainly got the polish on my nails but it did take more effort than it did over Nfu Oh's Aqua Base. It had a tendency to drag and have bald spots, I ended up needing 3 coats of Ultra Violet on most of my nails and 4 coats on others. I definitely will not be grabbing for Toughen Up again when I wear this polish again!

Both times I bought these my orders shipped in a couple of hours and got to me from all the way across the US really fast! You can also get them online from Harlow & Co, they are $16 there! These Layla polishes will also be available at Ulta, last I heard they would be there in May but who knows...maybe they will get them sooner!

Jessica Spring 2012 Heavy Petal Collection Swatches!

Good morning guys! It's almost Friday, woohoo! Last night I went and had a yummy burger from a food truck called the OC Burger Monster for dinner...it was SO good. I gotta say, it was really weird going to get dinner at the food trucks when it's all sunny and beautiful outside...it felt like lunch time and I'd have to go back to work when I was done eating. I hate when the time springs ahead, my body is still confused haha.

Anyway, today I have the Heavy Petal Collection from Jessica Cosmetics to show you guys! This collection consists of 3 pinks and 3 purples. It definitely makes me think of Spring! Make sure you check out my full swatches & review by clicking the read more button after the collage below!

Layla Hologram Effect Flash Black

Good morning! Today I have another drool worthy polish from Layla's Hologram Effect collection to show you guys. This is by far the one I was most excited about, Flash Black! Since I will probably never get the original version of OPI's My Private Jet I am always on the lookout for a black holo that will fullfill my need for My Private Jet.

Flash Black is a charcoal/black linear holo and it is amazing. This is crazy holo like whoa, imagine what you see in the photos but even more holo in real life. In my lightbox this baby was throwing off double rainbows, I couldn't capture it in photos but it was gorgeous! The formula was good in my opinion, but you do have to be patient with these polishes. I had the best luck with them by letting my base coat completely dry and waiting for each layer of polish to dry before doing the next coat. I've been trying these out with different base coats and I can tell you that it does affect how easy or difficult they are to apply.

I used Flash Black over Nfu Oh's Aqua Base and it was a breeze to apply in 2 coats. If you have these Layla polishes or are thinking about buying them I would strongly suggest getting Nfu Oh's Aqua Base, it's pricey at $12.50 for a bottle but it makes applying these so much easier. As I review more of the Layla holos I'll let you guys know my base coat and how easy (or difficult) application was with it!

All photos below are in direct sunlight and without top coat...I haven't found a top coat yet that doesn't dull the holo on these. If I find one I'll let you guys know!

Nail-Venturous Floam!!

Good morning! Today I am SO excited to show you this polish, I was going a little crazy over it on twitter on Saturday...it's Floam! This is made by a fellow blogger named Amy who blogs over at I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous, she posted swatches of this a little while back and I died a bit over this one (who am I kidding, I died A LOT over it...and all her other creations).  For where to buy this please see the end of post...under the photos!

Floam is a mix of yellow-green and blue glitter in a clear base. This is hands down the most interesting glitter I have ever seen, it's neon glitter! I don't even know how to describe this guys, it's glitter but it doesn't sparkle...it just looks awesome and it has SO much depth to it. I wore this on a trip to Ulta on Saturday and the cashier girl literally grabbed my hand and was like WHAT IS THAT?!? I was like guuuuuuurl...let me tell you all about frankens, I think I successfully enabled her to do some shopping on etsy. Formula wise this was on the thick side but it was easy to apply, if you have this it is one you will want to wait a couple minutes between coats. I used 3 coats for full coverage, it did look really great at 2 coats so if you're careful you could get away with that also. This is pretty dense but you could layer it without a problem if that's more your style. It dries matte and with texture but it's easy enough to get shiny and smooth with a couple coats of top coat...it ate top coat a little but I was good with a coat of Gealous followed by Sally Hansen Insta Dri.

This was incredibly hard to photograph, I think the mixture of neon and glitter is hard to get a clear photo of. I took over 100 pictures trying to get a good clear one to show you a close up but it just wasn't happening. I guarantee your eyeballs will pop out of your head if you see this in person!

Does anyone else suddenly feel the urge to buy floam and build some kind of creature with it? I miss my childhood haha!

I bought my bottle of Floam from ninjapolish.com, it was $9 and the bottle is full sized. Floam is sold out right now but as far as I know it will be back! Amy is also opening her own etsy shop, it's set to open on March 19th, you can find it here! I'm not 100% sure if Floam will be available on Amy's etsy but let's hope so!
