IMATS LA 2013

Hi guys! Today's post is a bit off different for me but I wanted to share some photos from IMATS Los Angeles that I went to yesterday! IMATS stands for International Make-up Artist Trade Show, it's a show that is open to the public...you can pick up makeup and tools from fantastic brands for a nice discount. In addition there are also informative panels and classes along with competitions. IMATS is held all over the world, I believe the other cities that do IMATS are New York, Vancouver, Toronto, Sydney and London. This was my first time going to IMATS and it was quite the experience! Hope you guys like my photos, I'll also show you what I ended up buying while I was there at the end of the post!

I really enjoyed walking around the show floor and watching make up artists doing some seriously spectacular special effects makeup at different booth.

Can we talk about this girls awesome rainbow hair? OMG
Here is how he looked once he was done, scary...but awesome.

oh hai GoldieStarling from Youtube creeping my photo (I love her, I'm seriously bummed I didn't notice she was back there)

Here is another photo of some awesome make up being done, I wish I had seen how she ended up looking when they were done!

After walking around the show floor with all the booths and whatnot I wandered into another hall which housed more special effects type displays. This was SO COOL, I was geeking out so hard. Also in this room, lots of people I fangirl over from the show Face Off. I got to talk to Rod from last season of Face Off for a second, it was probably the highlight of the day for me. I'm so in awe of people that are able to do make up like this.

Walking Dead Zombies!
There was a table of heads...I found them particularly creepy because of how lifelike they looked.

This guy was my favorite...he was all in character and everything, he didn't talk...he grunted lol

Now onto what I ended up buying at the show! The lines were INSANE, seriously...you couldn't even move near some of the booths. I had a whole list of Sigma brushes I wanted but the line was ridiculous, like a 2 hour wait (I wish I was exaggerating) I ended up getting some brushes from bdellium instead of Sigma. I've never tried this brand but I've heard good things about them on Youtube so we shall see!

Below is the 957 which is a dense flat top brush, I love these for foundation. I got it because it reminds me of the Sonia Kashuk flat top brush that I love. You can never have too many foundation brushes...right? The other brush is the 980, it's just a big powder brush...I needed one desperately.

I also got a few eye brushes, from the top down in the photo I got a 785 which is a fluffy blending brush. A 781 which is a crease brush and a 760 which is a tiny angled brush I'll probably use for my brows.

Then I stopped by the Lime Crime booth, I wanted to get the rest of their polishes...unfortunately they only had 4 in stock and 2 of them were the 2 I already have so I picked up Milky Ways and Peaches Cream

I also picked up a couple lipsticks. I didn't go with the intention of getting any of these but being the sucker for cute packaging I am I got 2. I couldn't resist the holographic unicorn. As if a holographic unicorn wasn't enough they also smell really good...kind of like marshmallows.

On the left is Glamour 101, a nice deep red. On the right is Countessa Fluorescent, a bright pink!

Last but not least I got 3 OCC Lip Tars, I had a couple more on my list but they were sold out. From left to right I got Black Dahlia, Electric Grandma (best name ever, yes?) and Super NSFW.  I'm pretty excited about these, especially Black Dahlia which I promise is not as scary as it looks...it's a dark red even though it looks nearly black in the tube.

I thought about picking up some OCC polishes but they didn't look all that fantastical so I passed on them.

Like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, IMATS happens all over the world...you can see all the details for them on the IMATS website

  11. The list of exhibitors at the LA show is awesome, but I'm not too impressed with the list for the Toronto exhibition (last year's of course, because this year's is not available yet). So looks like I won't be going. Enjoyed your post though. :)

  12. The Toronto imats was a let down for me, it is not nearly as big as NYC/LA. I was there for 3 hours and got bored. I think I would rather save up and try to go to one of the American ones next time around.
