Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans for this weekend? I'm not sure what I'm doing, probably a lot of blog stuff. This is my last weekend that I'll have time to do anything until February because IMATS and ISSE are both happening back to back and I'm going to both! My wallet is already weeping for the damage that will happen to my bank account because of these 2 shows.
Today I have 3 polishes from Layla to share with you guys, 2 are from their Ceramic Effects line and 1 is from their Softouch Effects. Check out the swatches after the jump!
CE40 otherwise known as "Oh My Red" according to some internet searching (it's not written on the bottle, at least not that I can see...maybe I'm blind?) is a bright red creme. Nothing too groundbreaking color wise but the formula was really great. If you have shorter nails than I do this would probably be a 1 coater for you, I needed 2 coats to cover up a little bit of visible nail line.
CE52 aka "The Butterfly Effect" is flakies that flash between red, orange, gold and green all in a purple base. This reminds me a lot of Nfu Oh 51 which I own...and can't find right now. Even though it's similar to the Nfu Oh that sure didn't stop me from going OMG when I saw it at Ulta and immediately putting it in my shopping bag! The formula was nice, great flakie payoff...I haven't tried this on it's own but you could probably get it opaque that way if you wanted to. I used 1 coat over Cult Nails Flushed for the photos, all photos are in the shade.
Softouch Effect 01 aka "Marshmallow Twinkle" is a silvery shimmer. The Softouch effects from what I understand dry down to a semi matte finish. To be honest I really can't tell if this one actually did, it was so shimmery and amazing I couldn't tell. The formula was really nice, I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Both the Ceramic Effect and the Softouch Effect polishes are available a few places, I've seen them both at my local Ulta. You can also get them online at Harlow & Co and Ninja Polish.

The Butterfly Effect <3 OMG! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteall of them are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow similar is CE53 (The Butterfly Effect) to DL Ray of Light? I must own at least one of them! =)
ReplyDeleteThe Butterfly Effect looks a bit like Orly's Fowl Play, except with denser flakies. It's very pretty!
ReplyDeleteGreat swatches...the butterfly effect. Any idea how close it is to cult nails seduction or clairvoyant/u.icorn puke.
ReplyDeleteQuite surprisingly, I actually really liked "The Butterfly Effect" and although reds are nothing new, "Oh My Red" is such a vivid color. Like them both!
ReplyDeleteYou're not crazy, the names aren't on the bottles! I wore Butterfly Effect TWO DAY in a row! Both with different base colors, and it really changed up the effect, I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI'm desperately craving Layla Softouch polishes since they've been released. They're Italian and they're quite impossible to find here in Italy. :/
ReplyDeleteRay of Light is more blue and it's very opaque
ReplyDeleteButterfly Effect DOES build up nicely on it's own :)
ReplyDeleteI also OMGed and promptly put it in my bag!
do you by chance know how they compare to Cult Nails seduction and clairvoyant/unicorn puke?
ReplyDeleteI don't own Seduction, it's very similar to Clairvoyant/Unicorn Puke!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the iridescent flakey one :')
ReplyDeleteWhat does Ceramic Effect mean? It looks normal to me!
ReplyDeleteThe red is really lovely actually! Might have to scout the drugstores for that one!
I think it's just a fancy name for them
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVE the Softouch polishes. I can't help but buy one every time I'm in Ulta. If you get a regular color (not glitter) the matte finish is BEAUTIFUL and it lasted for 4 days (until I finally wanted to change to another color) with no top coat. Also no staining and found that they worked better for me without a base coat which I NEVER go with out!
ReplyDeleteOmg Butterfly Effect is Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have three of the soft touch and I love them
ReplyDeleteI love The Butterfly Effect!
ReplyDeleteHow does Butterfly Effect compare to Orly's Fowl Play? They seem like they might be at least similar.
ReplyDeleteOrly is much darker and more opaque
