Hi guys, Happy New Year!! Hope you all had a fantastical and safe New Years Eve last night! Today I have a brand new polish from Nails Inc to share with you! Nails Inc is doing a whole ton of different kinds of textures and I am SO excited, I love different kinds of textures. It makes me excited that so many brands are giving us a variety of them for 2013!
This polish is what Nails Inc is calling their Leather Effect, it comes in a set at Sephora called Bling It On: Rebel, I have a photo of the packaging at the end of post! The set is $25 at Sephora and it comes with a bottle of Noho (the leather effect polish) a bunch of different studs and rhinestones you can glue to your nails and 4 crystalized skulls. It also has a little bottle of nail glue and a couple orange wood sticks.
The whole effect of this polish is that you paint it on and when it dries you have a texture that is supposed to resemble leather. You don't wear a top coat with this as it will affect the texture. The formula of Noho was good, I used 2 coats for the photos below. I found it to be a little slow drying so that's something to keep in mind...you can't just paint it on and run out the door. This reminds me of the liquid sand polishes OPI just recently put out but to the touch it doesn't feel as gritty.
If you like texture I think this is pretty neat...the effect was pretty subtle in real life. Since it's so dark it looked like a matte black unless you were somewhat close and really looking at my nails.
As you can see in the sun this still had a little bit of a shine to it. The photo below is almost a full 24 hours after application.
Here is what the set looks like! As far as I know you can't get the polish on it's own, at least not on Sephora's site. Hopefully they will sell the polish individually eventually. I'm pretty sure I'll never use all the extra stuff so it seems like a waste of product (and money) to me.
The Bling It On: Rebel kit is available at Sephora stores and Sephora.com now, it retails for $25. It looks like if you buy from Nails Inc there is also a tan version of this but I don't see it available at Sephora (hopefully it is eventually...I want it!). I'm crossing my fingers that it ends up at Sephora soon, there are so many cool textures Nails Inc is doing but they don't ship to the US from their official website :(

Ahh looks awesome, too bad it's not that visible D: I'd die for those skulls though ♥
ReplyDeleteit looks super cool :D
ReplyDeletethis is brilliant - i love how it looks..i just wonder if the feeling of wearing it is strange?
ReplyDeleteI wore this for new years eve, the set I got from Nails Inc website only had the skulls, no studs. I loved the feel of it, kept rubbing my nails against each other! I only used one coat, looking at your two coats it seems to have more texture, although I found that my one coat dried in same time as my seche'd accent nail so I thought it to be quick drying!
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with texture! If this were any color other than black, I'd sprint o the store. Purple please! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I am more of a shiny polish person. For some reason that effect doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteWow it looks so much better than i had imagined. Great pics :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting... but I think I can pass. If it isn't fast-drying on it's own I'd probably never have the time to wait for it to set.
ReplyDeleteLove the leather look! Agree, they should start selling the polish individually. I think it looks better without crystals but that's just me...
ReplyDeleteNot too sure about the polish but I really dig those crystal skulls! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt makes your nails look like teeny avocadoes. Very cool though!
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting, although I don't like putting crystals and other stuff on my nails. They just fall off or get knocked off. Sure are a lot of companies coming out with the matte textured look this year -- Zoya, OPI, China Glaze, now Nails Inc. Can the drugstore polish companies be far behind? I'm most looking forward to Zoya's Pixie Dust Collection, but I think a rich leather-brown would be fun too.
ReplyDeleteI bought this recently, but with all the polishes I received as presents this Christmas I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Looking at your swatches, I can say i'm glad I got it! By the way, I love your blog! :)
ReplyDeletemmm not too sure about the polish, it looks like sheets marks on the nails and it´s too expensive in this set version. I think I pass but I agree with you Jen, Bravo for the new trends, textures and products coming for a big brand
ReplyDeleteOoh, this is different to how it is sold here in the UK! Here, it is called 'Bling it on Leather & Skulls', and has the polish, skulls, glue, but not the gems...I think I remember reading that they are planning to release the polish by itself though. I have it on my nails at the moment, I keep touching it, the texture effect feels nice
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Is the finish something like the OPI Liquid Sand polishes from the Mariah Carey collection?
ReplyDeleteI talked about that in the post :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the textured nail polishes right now and this one looks really cool. I just finished wearing the OPI liquid sand Mariah Carey collection in Get Your Number.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really interesting! It does look like leather up close but too bad it wasn't that visible in real life. I would love to see it in different colors especially blue.
ReplyDeleteThis looks cool! I want the little skull studs haha
ReplyDeleteI don't really get a "leather" vibe from the texture, but it is neat nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteThis looks interesting. I'm not gonna lie. My first thought was...avocado! haha
ReplyDeleteIt looks GREAT! I reaaaally love this.
ReplyDeleteThis! That's exactly what it reminds me of! :) I'm not a fan, but I'm glad companies are try to think outside the box.
ReplyDeleteso cool!!
ReplyDeleteI went into Sephora after seeing this blog and put in my basket one of the last packages of this item on the shelf. I then tried the tester and I have to say the texture is really cool. Loved it. But didn't $25 love it. When the other brands dupe it and put it into a bunch of colors for a better price-- I will get something similar. Also want to say that it only looks like avocado because Jen's photo is blown up so large. Your nail is tiny and it doesn't look like avocado. Sort of leathery but still smooth.
ReplyDeletethats sooo cool
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this polish!
ReplyDeleteHAHA That is so ugly....not your nails though. Honestly whatever happened to an awesome creme or shimmer anymore?!
ReplyDeleteI *almost* bought this when I was at Sephora the other day. I quite like the look of textured nails! I LOVE the skull and crossbones this set comes with, but dropping $25 for a polish and some rhinestones is hard, so I haven't broken down yet!
ReplyDeletedifferent strokes for different folks
ReplyDeleteOMG...my bad. I guess I was too excited to get to the photos!
ReplyDeleteUh no thanks. This is what that most of try to avoid, the " half dry, half wet polish that you thought was completely dry so you went to bed only to find bumpy and sheet marked polish nails the next morning" look. You can achieve this look easily by doing exactly that, but everyone's got different styles and taste. For me this is a skip.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing i really don't get is how they call this leather effect when leather is normally smooth?
ReplyDeleteLooks like Hammerite (hammered finish paint for metal, don't know if they have it in the US). I think I'd like it more in dirty gold; maybe if it were slightly translucent, so I could wear a contrasting colour underneath
ReplyDeleteYou CAN get these without the rhinestones now for 12.00. I got my red version at Sephora JCP. Hope this helps some people who didn't want to shell out 25.00 for the polish with rhinestones!
