Saturday Spam: OPI DS

Hi guys! Today I have a bit of OPI DS Spam for you! Before I get into the swatches I wanted to mention that the huge majority of this post is HTF polishes. They are are all old and most of them are expensive on places like ebay. Most of these I happened across in random beauty supply stores or they were gifted to me from friends. I know some people don't like seeing posts with hard to obtain things so if you're one of those people...sorry!

Anyway, I really love OPI's DS line, the older shades from it are usually pretty awesome! It's kind of been my mission to collect all of them...there are still a bunch I'm missing but one day I'll have them all!

Check out a ton of photos of these polishes by clicking the read more button below!

All photos in this post except for the very last one are out in direct sunlight!

DS Chiffon is a light pink holo. The holo is pretty noticeable in real life but it was being shy with the camera :( I used 3 coats for the photos below.

DS Desire is a brown holo. This is one of my favorite DS polishes because it is holo like WHOA! I used 2 coats for the photos.

DS Limited is a coppery orange holo. The holo is a bit subtle in this one but the base color is so beautiful that it makes up for that. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

DS Passion is a bit of a dark pink. It has a subtle holo and a really pretty golden flash. Not the most exciting but still very pretty! I used 2 coats for the photos.

DS Reserve is a light pink. The holo in this is more of a chunkier scattered holo compared to the other OPI DS polishes I have, it kind of reminds me of the a less chunky version of the Milani holographic polishes. I used  2 coats for the photos below.

DS Opulence is a dusty mauve-ish pink holo. This one also has a pretty golden flash to it. I used  2 coats for the photos below.

DS Tapestry is a pink toned red holo. My camera seems to pick this up a little bit more red than it looked in person. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

DS Vintage is a coppery holo. This is another one of my favorites from the DS line, look at that holo!! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

DS Couture is a rosy red holo. This one is also super holo...moreso than my photos make it look even! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

DS Glow is a golden brown shimmer. This is the only non-holo of the bunch. I do like this but I don't think it's *that* fantastical. It reminds me a bit of OPI Sprung, just a bit more golden. I used 2 coats for the photos

  9. I like Desire the most in your post (already opened Ebay in another tab :))

But my favourite DS polish of all times is Fantasy. I seriously think it is the most beautiful blue ever and one of the prettiest polishes in my collection.

  12. Not a dog in the bunch. I adore Desire...I have been pretty religious about getting most every DS since they first started to release - I covet a # of them like Glamour, Original and Royal - I often think Royal might be my fav and it's not even a scattered holo. I was sad when they started to push out glitters as DS - I was glad to see it seemed they listed and heard all the sad comments about that and came up with 2 pretty good ones for the next yr's release. All in all I think the DS line went down hill when Coty bought OPI - it's not quite the same as it was before - similar things happened to Philosophy when Coty acquired that brand.

  15. DS VINTAGE!!! It caught my eye on the main page and WOW. That is the most beautiful holo I've ever seen! :D It's really too bad that I won't be able to purchase it, if it's so rare to find. Thank you for the swatches! :)

  17. I really love your swatches! I like Limited and Desire too. I happen to have a few DS colors in my stash too. I am not entirely sure about how long I have had them maybe 5 years? Anyhow, I do know I paid $10 a bottle at Trade Secret in a mall in PA. Design has a nice consistent formula.Beige with silver gold and blue holo. I like to wear this when I am on vacation at the New Jersey beaches. Two coats and you are covered. Jewel is very sheer burgundy wine brown shimmer. Great rich color! It needs 3 coats for full coverage.

  19. These are gorgeous, and it's really interesting to see how old they are considering the holo trend is so "on" right now. OPI is definitely a trendsetter. ;)

  25. I got 4 OPI DS polishes at the OC Swapmeet in Costa Mesa CA for 2.99 apiece!
I have vintage, jewel, divine and perfection. Jewel is kind of an deep burgundy brown color, sort of ugly, but also sort of cool, Divine is a raspberry pink holo, and perfection is a raspberry/burgundy/gold duochrome foil type polish.

Vintage is definitely my favorite of the bunch, but perfection is gorgeous too!

  27. Do you have magic? There's a couple in the clearance bin at my ulta. I passed bc it's a little wild for me but I grabbed the one opulence they had!

  28. nope, I don't think I have that one!

  29. I never have found any of the original ones. I found a display for the newer line, about 2 years ago, thinking it'd be the same. I almost got tears in my eyes. Ha....and then, tried one on. Big disappointment. Barely any holo at all. Wasted $12 each on them.
