Morgan Taylor Swatches

Hi guys, hope you're all having a great weekend so far! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm going to see HelloGoodbye tonight, I haven't seen them live in a few years...plus they are playing with a couple bands that broke up a few years ago that I never got to see live so I'm pretty darn excited!

Today I have some polishes from a new brand called Morgan Taylor to share with you guys. You got a little preview of these in my ISSE post from a couple weeks ago. Morgan Taylor is owned by the company that makes Gelish, that's what got me excited about it. I'm not a gel polish kinda gal but Gelish is a brand I've heard so many good things about that it made me interested in seeing what they were doing in the world of regular nail polish. The brand made their debut this year at ISSE with something crazy like 64 of the 100 colors they are launching. Their booth was a whole rainbow of gorgeous shades and finishes, I was like a kid in a candy store! I browsed the selection for a while and finally settled on 6 colors, it was hard...I seriously could have bought so many more but I was like nooo Jen, self control!

As far as availability goes I was told at the Morgan Taylor booth that these would be available March/April at pro stores like Cosmoprof and Armstrong McCall. For those of us (myself included) who do not have a cosmetology license and can't shop at stores like those I have no idea....I did my fair share of googling and came up with nada, I can't even find any kind of official website for the brand. Hopefully as stores get these they will start being available online to us normal folks at places like Amazon...time will tell I guess.

Dress Up is a medium purple creme. I picked this up because the girl I was talking to at the Morgan Taylor booth was wearing this with an accent nail of the next polish and I kind of fell in love. I fully bought both polishes just so I could recreate what she was wearing. The formula was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Fame Game is a holographic glitter. As always with holographic glitter it's impossible to photograph. The glitter looks mostly silver in the photo but in reality its all holographic. Reminds me a bit of China Glaze Fairy Dust but a touch more chunky. The formula was great as was the glitter payoff, I used 1 coat over Dress Up for the photos below.

Lost In Paradise is a green creme. This is a bit of a blue green but it leans more green on the nail than it looked in the bottle. The formula was again..great lol! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Make Me Blush is a light pink creme. This reminds me of something like OPI Pink Friday. I picked this one up because polishes like this can be a pain, formula wise. I like to judge brands off shades like this for some reason. The formula was nice, it was a little streaky on the first coat but the second coat evened it out without a problem. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Truth or Dare is a vampy purple/black shimmer. Nom nom vampy shimmer goodness! In the bottle the shimmer looked like it might have a bit of a duochrome shift to it but I couldn't see it on the nail in any kind of lighting unfortunately. The formula was really nice, easy to apply and very opaque. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Under The Stars is a navy blue jelly with silver and holographic glitter. This was the first polish I picked up when I saw the Morgan Taylor booth, it was gorgeous! The formula was great, I was expecting it to be a bit sheer but it wasn't. Even though the jelly base was pretty opaque it wasn't so opaque that it covered up the glitter. This is so much better in real life, the holographic-ness of the glitter doesn't translate well into photos :( I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I really like these polishes, I'm hoping that once they reach stores I'll actually have a way to buy them because I'd love to pick up more. I really love the bottle shape and the brush, it's a bit of a wide brush but not quite as wide as the OPI Prowide brush, it was so nice to use. Price wise I'm not sure what these will retail for, I think they were 6 for $20 at the show....something in that neighborhood.

  1. I'll definitely be interested in picking up some of these at Premier Orlando coming up in June. I know I got a great deal on Venique last year (6 for $20, as well, I think) so I'll probably be picking up quite a few of these. I think Under the Stars might be my favorite. :)

  6. Ohhhhhh... I really want Fame Game. Then I wouldn't necessarily have to spend so much money getting different colors with holographic glitter already added.

  20. I live in N. Indiana and am licensed, and the CosmoProf stores I shop at only carry OPI, CG, Venique, and CND shellac polish lines. Anyone else on here frustrated at how underwhelming and boring CosmoProf's selection of polish lines are (those who do shop there)?!? Also, I've never heard of this brand either, certainly don't expect to come across it where I shop! :(

  21. Keep a look out for these, they should be showing up at CosmoProf in March, at least that's what I was told by the people who own Morgan Taylor!

  22. nailtechsupply.com has ALL of these colors! Just ordered Under the Stars and several others. As far as I can tell you don't need any special licenses or IDs to order from this website, so YEAH!!!

  26. Wow, I did ALL of these colours, but I am lusting heavily over Fame Game and Dress Up. I'm Canadian, so don't know if I would be able to find this anywhere?

  27. If any of these are going to be on Amazon (or sold by any unauthorized seller), they're going to be considered diverted/gray market. When they're available at pro stores, unfortunately the licensed customers will buy in bulk and sell them online for profit and without a legal contract/permission from the company. It happens with other professional brands all the time. You never know if these diverted products were tampered with. :/

  29. I saw these on displayat Cosmoprof a couple weeks ago. I didn't really bother looking at them cause I was in a bit of a rush (and really, I don't know if my wallet can afford for me to fall in love with another brand! lol) But when I asked the the sales girl about them, she offered me one for free to try out - I couldn't say no! And I actually forgot about until yesterday, when I finally swatched it!

I ended up grabbing "Make A Statement", a periwinkle glitter. When the light hits it, you can see the combo of purple and light blue shimmer. It really quite gorgeous! The formula was good too. The glitter went on smoothly, without leaving any patches. It was opaque in 2 coats, but also looks great layered over a base color..

I definitley plan on grabbing a few more of these! (My poor, poor malnurished wallet....) I'm loving Lost in Paradise, Truth or Dare and Under the Stars. I really like Dress Up too, but it looks a bit dupish - maybe OPI Your Such A Budapest?
