Whimsical Ideas by Pam My Whimsical Valentine Collection

Hi guys, happy Friday!! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I will be swatching about eleventy billion nail polishes if the weather decides to cooperate with me and the sun is out! I seriously have so much stuff to share, I need more hands and more hours in the day!

Today I have the My Whimsical Valentine Collection from Whimsical Ideas by Pam to share with you. For Valentines this year Pam has done 5 beautiful polishes. I'm a big fan of everything that Pam does but collectively I think this my favorite collection she's done yet.

Check out more photos and reviews of each shade by click the read more button below!

All swatches in this post are with top coat, I believe I used CND Air Dry for those wondering!

Eloise is matte pink and white glitter mixed with big black circle glitter in a clear base. I was pretty excited about this, I bet you'll never guess why haha! It contains that big black circle glitter that Pam used in her Halloween polish called Wicked...it started my obsession with needing all the circular glitter in my life. Love the inspiration behind this too, I'm sure you probably know it given the name! I grew up reading the Eloise books, I was always kind of jealous of her life...not even gonna lie.

The formula was good on this polish, I found it easiest to apply by painting on the first coat like normal then going back and dabbing on another coat where I wanted the glitter. You do have a fish a little bit for the circle glitter but I didn't find it too difficult to get out. I layered Eloise over Nicole by OPI Please Red-cycle for the photos below.

Falingo is described by Pam as satin pink and white glitter, red/orange micro glitter and red/orange micro mini bar glitter in a sheer flamingo pink base. This shade is inspired by flamingos! I think the mix of glitter is perfect for Pam's vision. It's so soft and subtle looking in person, which makes it impossible to photograph haha! I think the layering combos with this are pretty much endless, as soon as I catch up on swatching I'm planning on wearing it over a dark purple or black, I think the glitter would pop beautifully over a dark shade. The formula was really great on this one, it was easy to apply and had awesome glitter payoff. I used 1 coat over Maybelline Coral Crush for the photos below.

My apologies for the lack of shade photo for this one, it was beautiful but Coral Crush was a pain to photograph and I couldn't get any photos to come out color accurate.

In The Whole Wide World is mint green satin glitter and pastel pink heart glitter mixed with iridescent micro glitter in clear base. *dead* I am so in love with this I can't even handle it. It's my favorite of the collection by far. I think what makes me love this so much is how soft and delicate it looks. As soon as I opened the package with these polishes I was like must.layer.over.grey. pink and any kind of grey toned polish is one of my favorite combos of life. The formula was good, I used the same application method as I used for Eloise. You do have to fish a little bit for the hearts, best method I found was to put the bottle upside down for a few minutes then I swirled the brush a bit in the polish and I picked up a lot of the heart glitter that way. I layered In The Whole Wide World over Zoya Kristen for the photos below.

Persian Violets is various sizes/shapes/shades of purple matte glitter in a sheer lavender base. There is some kind of fantastical purply pink shimmer going on in here too that I didn't see until I stepped outside! I'm kicking myself for not layering it over a darker purple to really make that shimmer come out! The formula was good on this one, the glitter payoff was pretty good and it was easy to get a lot of glitter onto the brush if you wanted a heavier application of it. I used 2 coats of Persian Violets over Zoya Malia for the photos below.

Sparkly Markaly is a red jelly packed with red circle glitter and red micro glitter. I didn't realize this was circle glitter at first, I was actually emailing back and forth with Pam professing my love for all things circle glitter and Eloise and she was like duh Jen Sparkly Markaly has it too and I was like WHAT. Talk about a duh moment lol! The formula was great on this, you could layer over another red if you wanted to but it's nice and opaque on it's own very easily. I used 2 coats on it's own for the photos below.

P.S. how stinking cute is the label on this polish? Pam's nephew wrote it and when Pam posted it on her Facebook page so many people loved it (myself included) that she decided to do 50 bottles with this label.

  1. I think the only one I would consider wearing is The Whole Wide World. This glitter is a little too chunky for my taste.

  11. Love Persian Violets and The Whole Wide World! <3 As much as I love Whimsical Ideas by Pam, I try not to get too attached because she doesn't ship internationally (at least last time I checked). I really don't know why she doesn't get picked up by a distributor, her polishes are that good.

On another note, about your weekend swatch-a-thon, any chance that you could devote a Friday Favourites to how you do your swatching? I think there's enough bloggers (and newbie bloggers) following you that it would be of interest. I seriously don't know how you get through so many polishes, and hold a full time job, and keep up with a rigorous blogging schedule. :) If you already dealt with this in a previous post, please just let me know.

  12. I hear ya, I wonder about that too her polishes are fantastic. I'd love to see them offered on a site that ships everywhere so everyone could enjoy them!

That's a great idea for a Friday Favorites, I'll definitely do something like that. Thank you for the great suggestion!
