Hard Candy Fireworks & Jubilee Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have a couple of the new Hard Candy polishes to share with you! Hard Candy just recently revamped their entire polish line and released 45 new polishes, I pretty much died from the awesome of most of them as soon as they posted teaser pictures on their Facebook page a few weeks back. I have like 20 more of these to post that you'll be seeing soon, I decided to post these 2 on their own together because I have similar thoughts about them that I don't have about the rest of the polishes from the new collections.

To see swatches & reviews of both shades click the read more button below.

Fireworks is blue, red and silver glitter in a sheer red jelly base. This could definitely be opaque on it's own if you wanted to wear it that way, I decided to layer it over Seche Dainty Decadence for the photos below. I really like the mix of glitter in here but the bar glitter is pretty horrendous, every single piece of bar glitter in the polish is curled. Like straight up tacofied bar glitter, I am not a fan....top coat does nothing to help the pieces that stick up off the nail.

See what I mean about the taco bar glitter? It was even worse on other nails but I couldn't get a good macro shot of it.

Jubilee is a murky green jelly base with black, orangey/red and silver glitter. This was one of my favorites from the 45 new polishes, once I finally found these in store at Walmart it was the first that caught my eye and it went directly into my cart. Sad news here too, awful curling bar glitter...believe it or not the curling bar glitter is even worse in Jubilee. For me this is a deal breaker...had I noticed the curling bars when I was at Walmart I would not have bought this one. Formula wise I had no issues and you could wear this on it's own with 3-4 coats if you wanted to, I used 1 coat over Cult Nails Deal With It for the photos below.

Do I need to say anything about the next photo, curling glitter...

I have to say, I am SO disappointed with these 2 polishes...I really don't understand how glitter curling this badly makes it through quality control with major companies like this. I do have a few other Hard Candy polishes that have bar glitter and I haven't noticed curling in them (I do not have all the glitters with bar glitter though). If you are after any of the polishes in their new collections with bar glitter I'd triple check them in store before buying just in case. Sometimes curling glitter can be tamed with top coat but I didn't find that possible with either of these so in my opinion these are both unusable. I'm sure you could pick the badly curling bars out or file them down once the polish is dry but lets be real, I don't have time to deal with that kind of nonsense....I shouldn't have to do that kind of stuff to make a polish look how it's supposed to.

Hard Candy polishes are available at Walmart, they are in stores now and should be online at Walmart.com soon if they aren't already. Each polish retails for $3.97.

*Fireworks was sent to me for review, Jubilee was purchased by me. Please see my disclosure page for more information*

  1. Hmm, that's disappointing. I think it's worth noting that many of the bars in my bottle of Lynnderella Connect the Dots curl like this, but I'm far more willing to overlook it in an indie than a company like OPI or Hard Candy. Thanks so much for the review! Will definitely be avoiding these.

  2. Wow, I am hungry for Mexican food. I mean I hate taco glitter, ahem... I am so glad I didn't get these, the green one, well, that was an easy decision, but I did consider the red. LOL.

  3. You aren't the only person that I've heard of having problems with the bar glitter in that particular portion of the collection, which is a shame. Somehow though, I don't think Hard Candy will address the issue the way that OPI did with their recent problem with glitter :(

  4. Those are so pretty, I wish they didn't curl though

  5. That is so disappointing! Those polishes looked like they would be fantastic. Boo taco glitter!

  6. Curling glitter is the worst. If it can make it through the quality control of a company as large as OPI, then who can you trust?

What are some of your tips for strengthening your nails? Mine have been in really bad shape lately, and the ironic part is that I haven't even used nail polish in over a month.

    1. I use Nailtiques Formula 2 as a basecoat & if I want a treatment by itself, I use Julep Oxygen because of its light pink tint & how it still allows your nails to breathe. I haven't had a single nail break since I started using it (once my fragile nails grew out) & my nails grow SO fast! You can get the Formula 2 at Ulta & Julep from the Julep site.

  7. Just sad, I was so interested in these because they look so indie.

  8. Boo what a disappointment! I don't have either of these that you discussed here, but I will definitely be avoiding the bar glitter shades now. Many of the others look really fun though! Can't wait to see the rest of your swatches!

  10. I'm not a fan of bar glitter so I wasn't planning on buying these anyway, but that sucks for the people who do like it.

The one I'm dying to get my hands on is the black-and-white glitter.

I saw the review for Jubilee over at Liquid Jelly last week and she had the same issues with the bar glitter. I LOVE the polish enough that I decided to purchase it anyway and just pick out the curlies with tweezers while the polish is still wet. It's worked great so far and worth the extra hassle but I can totally understand why people might not want to take the time to do that (and frankly, we shouldn't have to!!).
