OPI Bond Girls Collection Swatches

Hi guys, hope you all had a good weekend! Today I have the new Bond Girls Collection to share with you! OPI has teamed up again with EON Partners to release 6 more Bond inspired polishes. All 6 polishes in this collection are OPI's Liquid Sand formula and they are all named after some of the iconic Bond Girls we've all seen in the movies. Check out all the swatches & reviews of each shade by clicking the read more button below!

The individual swatches in this post are all without top coat, photos of them with top coat can be found at the end of the post.

Honey Ryder is a metallic golden base with bits of silver glitter. I'm not normally a gold girl but I like this one, it's a bit of a sandy gold which makes it easier to wear, in my opinion. I like that even after this dried down the metallic nature of the base was very apparent. The formula was good, a little thick but very easy to apply. The opacity was the best of the bunch, you could easily get away with using 1 coat if you wanted to. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Jinx is a coral red/orange with an intense golden shimmer throughout. This is my favorite of the collection, perfection for summer! If you like the Zoya PixieDust polishes you will want to pick this one up. It's very similar in the way that it's more like sugar on the nails rather than matte glitter...if that makes any sense. If you like this kind of color but don't like texture you should check out Zoya Rica, it's very similar in color and just as beautiful on the nail! The formula was great, very easy to apply! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Pussy Galore is a light baby pink with a darker more fuchsia pink shimmer throughout. The base of this was very frosty, when I started applying it was I preparing myself to hate this. Once it dried down I fell in love, the frosty base ended up drying down to a beautiful shimmery sheen. Unfortunately this does not translate very well into photos, the fuchsia pink shimmer doesn't seem to show up at all with my camera :( The formula was good, it was a little thick but easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Solitaire is a white base with silver glitter. The white base of this polish is a lot like the pink was in Pussy Galore, it was very frosty but it dried down to a beautiful finish. I really love this one, it looks like shimmering snow! The formula was good, a little thick but I had no application issues. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Tiffany Case is an icy blue metallic base with silver glitter. I really like the base of this, like Honey Ryder it looks metallic in the sun even after it dries down matte. The formula was good on this one, however sad to say this stains really badly. It stained when I swatched it for the photos below and I swatched it again later to show with top coat and used 2 coats of base coat and still had staining. While I like the color the fact that it stains through 2 coats of base coat is enough to make me never grab for it again. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Below is a couple photos of Tiffany Case next to Get Your Number from the Mariah Carey Collection. I thought people might wonder how similar they were so here you go in case you were wondering.

Get Your Number is much darker and the base is more jelly based, the glitter in it is also holographic (which unfortunately my camera fails at capturing below). Tiffany Case is a lighter metallic base with silver glitter. Different enough to own both if you really like them.

Vesper is a deep purple jellyish base with black glitter. I have to say, I am very meh about this one. I really loved it on the first coat because of how obvious it was that it was purple with black glitter, but then you add the second coat and it just looks black with the purple visible only around the edges of the nail. I think this is one I'd wear with 1 coat layered over another purple in the future! The formula was good, it was the most sheer of the collection but I only needed 2 coats for full opacity.

Here's a photo of what the polish looks like on the brush, it's a bit easier to see the purple base this way.

Below are all of the polishes with top coat, for the most part they all look the same with the exception of Vesper which looks a lot different with top coat. I think it's the frosty & metallic nature of the base color in the other 5 polishes that are making them not look drastically different with top coat.

I used 2 coats of each polish topped with a coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and KBShimmer Clearly On Top for the photos below.

Overall I really like this collection, I like that the glitter is much finer in these Liquid Sand polishes. Most of these are more reminiscent (in the sense of the size of the glitter) of the Zoya PixieDust polishes, especially Jinx. I haven't had a chance to wear test these yet but if they are anything like the other Liquid Sand polishes the wear should be great.

Bond Girls by OPI will be available beginning May 2013 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Chatters, JCP Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

  3. Honey Ryder is so gorgeous. It's the first Liquid Sand that I've really liked.

  4. Jinx is absolutely lovely. Jesse's Girl JulieG is putting out a "Frosted Gumdrops" collection reminiscent of Jinx and the Zoya Pixie Sugar polishes that I think I might have to check out. The other ones in this collection, though, are just "meh" to me.

  6. I can't wait for these to come out, since I heard of them. Beautiful swatches...

  7. I really hope the wear on these are more like the Mariah Carey Liquid Sands vs. What Wizardry Is That? WWIT chipped like crazy for me after only 12 hours!

  8. Jinx and the Solitaire are absolute beautiful :) I will buy them :D

  9. I love Solitaire and Jinx! I've yet to try any of the liquid sand polishes but they do look interesting.

  10. Thanks for the bottle comparison of Get Your Number and Tiffany Case. I'd love to see then swatched side by side (or maybe just a photo of one next to a photo of the other so you don't have to stain your nails again ;)). Some people have been doing gradients with the Pixie Dust polishes, I wonder if these two would work or if they are too similar.

  11. Your swatches are awesome as always! I want them all except the blue & the black!

  12. I am SO excited for these!! The Skyfall collection was my favorite from 2012. Bond + nail polish is just so cool. It's a bummer because Vesper is my favorite Bond girl but that polish definitely looks the least interesting. I think I'm just going to have to buy them all anyway :)

  13. I don't know about these liquid sand texture, am I the only one who don't quite get their appeal?

  14. I neeeeeed Jinx! :D <3

  15. I am so excited for this collection to be released! And thank you for doing a comparison between Tiffany's Case and Get Your Number, I've been wondering how different they are :) Really great swatching post, I love it!!

  16. It's a no from me. :)

  17. No, I agree with you. I got one of these from the Mariah Carey collection and it didn't do anything for me, so I'm not getting anymore. I guess you either love this or hate it! :)

  18. I love the liquid sand polishes an unreasonable amount, it defies logic. I think maybe because I love the beach so much that I keep wanting to capture that feeling/texture on my nails so I'm really drawn to the blue and gold shades. Too bad about the staining with Tiffany Case because I wanted desperately for Get Your Number to look like the a shimmering ocean on my fingers but somehow that shade of blue is just.. off to me, and I thought TC looked better.

  19. The first 2 are such beautiful summer shades!

  20. The white texture, Solitaire,is the most unusual.I will probably get that one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The fact that they named a polish Pussy Galore makes me giggle.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You have just created a new lemming... Solitaire is simply amazing. I want it! *_*

  23. I have 4 of the liquid sand colors. I see I will be definitely getting these as well. I like them because two or three coats and I'm done. A complete manicure. The pink, gold, and white, will complete my collection.

  24. I'm just not in board with the Liquid Sand finish. Looks like popcorn ceilings or asphalt to me, can't wait for this trend to pass!

    ReplyDelete
  25. would love to see how Vesper looks with one coat over purple underwear.see if it's worth buying to wear that way. cuz i agree it DOES look mostly black.

  26. I honestly hate these Liquid Sand finish polishes. They just look lumpy and gross in my opinion, I don't understand why they're popular. Jinx is probably the best of the bunch, because it's the least lumpy looking of them and more like the Zoya Pixiedust polishes. I love the color, though, I'll look into the Zoya that you recommended!

  27. I am exactly the same. I feel like it looks like I messed up my nails and they ended up bumpy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm the same. I have the minis from the Mariah collection and I hate them.

I would love to see Vesper with one layer and/or layered over a purple as you described. :D

  30. Jinx looks very close to the blue from the Julie G Frosted Gumdrops collection. I'm gonna need a lot of these though!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I liked the Liquid Sand from the Mariah Carey collection but I'm not sure about these. Solitaire and Honey Ryder look pretty interesting but these totally remind me of popcorn ceilings!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm so sad to hear about the staining from Tiffany Case. That was the one I really wanted to pick up from this set, but not if it's going to leave me with stained nails.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh I'm in love with them ALL...except Vesper, like you said, it's just kinda MEH. I would like to try it or see it over a purple base color though! Hopefully that'll be it's saving grace! Other than that...DROOL!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't wait to get this to add to my Skyfall collection. I'm a serious sucker for anything and everything James Bond :)

  35. Hi, I really love Your nails and blog :) Can I borrow first photo for my post about news in OPI? Of course I add link to Your blog :)

  37. Like Like LIIIIIKEEEE - great swatches! I'm def. hoing two buy at least 2 of them :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Really nice swatches! How similar are Jinx and Zoya Destiny? It would be really nice to see them compared! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Are they as difficult to remove as regular glitter polish?

    ReplyDelete
  40. thepolishaholicMay 2, 2013 at 7:12 AM

nope, they aren't too bad to remove!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nope, you're not the only one. I'm not into these either. The colors are fun and vibrant but the "sand" is awful. I actually got to feel this polish on a friend of mine, at the salon, and it feels rough and gross. Pass.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Odd, I just wore it and had no staining. (I used Nailtiques Formula 2 as my base coat) I'd give it a try!

    ReplyDelete
  43. When I first put one on I thought it was way too rough, like it might even snag on stuff. By the next morning it was pretty smooth, they just need a little time to settle down.
