Saturday Spam: Hard Candy

Hi guys, happy weekend! Anyone have fun plans for this weekend? I have a bazillion errands to run but nothing exciting unfortunately. Today I have a bit of Saturday Spam for you, all of these polishes are from Hard Candy's new re-vamped nail polish line. They recently came out with 45 new polishes in a bunch of little mini collections. There are a ton of great finishes and colors, really something for everyone in my opinion!

Check out all the swatches by clicking the read more button below!

disclaimer: I am writing this post while dealing with an awful headache...please excuse any horrible spelling errors or anything else that might not make sense haha!

Black Tie Optional is black and white glitter in a clear base. We've seen this kind of polish a ton of times by now but you know what? I'm still not tired of it, I love black and white glitter so hard. The formula was great, as was the glitter payoff! I used 1 coat over Seche Takes Chances for the photos below.

Celebrate Sequins is holographic glitter in a clear base. It doesn't pick up well in photographs but pretty much all the glitter in here is holographic, if you want something super sparkly you'll like this. The formula and glitter payoff was great! I used 1 coat over Seche May Be Modest for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Cotton Candy Pink is small blue and white glitter in a milky light pink base. This one is a lot like the Nails Inc Sprinkles polishes, if you like those you will like these too! The formula was okay, I found it to be a little thick but I didn't have any application issues and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting: Shade

Crush On Amethyst is an icy purple and gold foil. Now I'm not a huge fan of this kind of finish but I am loving this color combo and how it looked on the nail! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and was easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Crush On Copper is a orangey copper foil. I wish this was a little less orange but I do like it! The formula was good, same as Crush on Amethyst! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Shade
Crush On Lava is a maroon/gold/green multichrome. If you missed out on Hard Candy Beetle you'll want to pick this up. I don't think it's an exact dupe (it seems more opaque than I remember Beetle being) but it's very very close! The formula was good, I think it would look great layered also! I used 3 coats for full opacity. good formula, a little sheer. 3 coats

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Shade

Gummy Green is small black and silver glitter in a milky minty green base. Clearly, this is another favorite, green, black and silver...be still my heart! The formula was good, it was a little sheer on the first coat but I only needed 2 coats for full opacity.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Hip Hip Hooray is pink, blue, purple and silver glitter in a slightly purple tinted base. This is another favorite, I really love the mix of glitter. I think it will look great over so many base colors! The formula was good, really great glitter payoff with 1 coat! I used 1 coat over Seche Casually Cool for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Lil Lilac is a pink and gold foil. This reminds me a lot of Zoya Faye, I haven't had a chance to do a comparison but I think it's close enough that you don't need both. The formula was good, a little sheer on the first coat but it was opaque with 2 coats.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Little Bo Pink is a pink jellyish base with golden shimmer. I love the color of this, it screams summer to me! Unfortunately I was not a fan of the formula, it was thick and sheer...I found it a hard to apply. I'm hoping thinning it will help because I do love the color! I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Lighting: Sunlight

Masquerade is tiny black glitter and pink hex glitter in a clear base. I'm pretty much obsessed with this one, I've worn it a couple times already! The formula was good, as was the glitter payoff. It was a little thick so if you want to wear it on it's own you might run into issues with it getting goopy but it's wonderful layered! I used 1 coat over Seche Simple Yet Significant

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Peach Pop is red and silver (or maybe it's gold...I can't tell lol) glitter in a milky orange base. I wouldn't call this orange peach but whatevs. The formula was good, a little sheer on the first coat but it was opaque in 2 coats.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Pixie Pink is pink, blue and silver glitter in a milky light pink base. I love this one too, are you tired of hearing that yet?  The formula was on the thick side but I didn't have any issues with application. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Sunlight

Shot of Lemon is a bright golden yellow shimmer. I think this color will look great on those of you who aren't as ghostly as me, I didn't find this flattering at all on my skin tone. I do like the finish though so I'm sad it isn't working for me. The formula wasn't my favorite, it was a little thick and sheer. I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting: Shade

So So Sequin is holographic glitter and blue hex glitter in a clear base. All the tiny glitter in here is super holo, this was crazy awesome in the sun! The formula was okay, it was thick but I didn't have any issues layering it. If you want to wear this on it's own you will probably need to thin it quite a bit. I used 1 coat over Seche Timeless Style.

Lighting: Sunlight
Sparkle City is tiny silver shimmer and black hex glitter. I really thought I was going to love this but I just don't like it on, I tried it layered over several polishes and on it's own and I just don't care for it. The formula was a bit of a pain, it was chunky and almost too glitter dense to easily apply. I used 1 coat over Color Club Flamingo for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Shade

Tinsel Town is multicolored bar glitter in a clear base. This is very mardi gras in it's color scheme, some of the bars are also holographic out in the sun. The formula was good and luckily this one does not have curling problems like some of the other polishes with bar glitter from Hard Candy. I used 1 coat over piCture pOlish Tiffany.

Hard Candy polishes are available at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com, each polish retails for $4.00!

  4. I hope you feel better. I am totally blown away by the duochrome in Crush on Lava.Loving all the glitters and chromes. Where did you purchase the Seche polishes? They have cute names, but the only Seche polish I've bought where I live was a glitter called Overlay and of course top coat and Restore, all at Sally's.

  5. I have been back to the Walmart near me three times in the last two weeks looking for these polishes... they have a display rack installed but no polish yet!

  6. oh! I much prefer the foils in this collection- the only glitter I'm drawn to is Pixie Pink! It's nice that they included some non-glitters too since we all knew this was going to be a glitter heavy collection :)

  11. Just a random comment not pertaining to this post really - I love your blog so much. I follow a bunch of nail blogs, as I'm sure lots of girls who care about polish do, but yours has been my favorite for a long time. I love your honesty (about the curling bar glitters, for example) and your nails and swatches are fantastic.

Oooh you swatched pretty much all the ones I was curious about in the store last week. I'll definitely have to pick up Lava. Masquerade is another cool polish. I just wish there was a way to pick out the pink hex glitters.

  15. One of the other bloggers (apologies, can't remember which one) had reported curling glitter in the Handy Candy Collection. The culprits are usually the bigger pieces. Did you see anything that looked suspicious? MoreNailPolish reported curling glitter in the new OPI Oz- When Monkeys Fly. That one surprised me.

  16. Yes, I did a whole post about the curling glitter in the polishes from Hard Candy. You should be able to search it by typing in Hard Candy into the search bar. I also posted about the curling glitter in When Monkeys Fly.

My local Wal-Mart FINALLY added these babies last week!!! I could barely control myself when I was standing in front of the rack, I made it out with 5 and will be going back for a couple more this week LOL. My absolute FAVORITE is the Celebrate Sequins! You're right, pictures do it absolutely no justice, you have to see it in real life to believe the level of sparkle you get out of this lovely little bottle!

  22. Just wondering because I've never used Hard Candy before, but how does it compare to polish brands like China Glaze and Sally Hansen? I mainly use China Glaze, and before I used Sally Hansen, so I was wondering.. Sorry if its a stupid question. (._.) Anyway, I was wondering because I've found that after starting to use a better brand, I can't go back to the less expensive ones like Sally Hansen and Wet n' Wild. The formulas have a distinctive difference. So yeah, how does it compare?

  23. Just discovered this blog today, and the hard candy polishes last night, which is how I ended up here. I picked up crush on lava and applied 2 coats. After seeing yours I'll go for a 3rd today to add some oomph. Really love the lava though. I want to go back and pick up a few more. Your swatches here have helped me decide which ones tickle my fancy. Great blog, thank you!
