Essie Summer 2013 Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good day so far! Today I have most of the new Essie Collection for Summer 2013. The collection is 6 shades in total but only 4 grabbed me enough to buy them when I spotted them on an end cap at Target. These caught my attention because of the pretty shimmer, I'm a sucker for shimmer...what can I say?!? Check out the swatches & review of each shade after the jump!

Naughty Nautical is a blue leaning teal with a subtle shimmer. The shimmer is pretty much hidden unless the light hits the nail right but it's still very pretty! The formula was really nice, I had no issues with application. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Sunday Funday is a really pretty coral with a subtle shimmer. I really love this shade of coral, it sits really nicely between orange and pink and doesn't lean too much towards either shade if that makes any sense. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and I had no issues with it. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

The Girls Are Out is a red toned purple with a subtle shimmer. I was a little scared of this one because it reminded me of the Essie Neons and I was worried the formula would be terrible but good news...it was really nice. I think the shimmer really helped the formula out here. This went on really nicely, I didn't have issues with streakyness or anything of that nature. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

The More The Merrier is a bright chartreuse green. I always love these kinds of yellowy greens, my Grandpa hated this color so I like them because it makes me think of him when I wear it haha! The formula was alright, it was a bit streaky on the first coat but it evened out nicely with a semi thick 2nd coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Essie's Summer 2013 Collection is available now, I'm not sure if it's been spotted places like Ulta or drugstores yet but all the Targets near me have them out on an end cap. Essie retails for $8!

  2. Really great swatches, I love Sunday Funday! If you do a comparison post, I'm wondering how The More the Merrier compares to CG Def Defying and how Naughty Nautical compares to Zoya Zuza. :)

  3. I was hoping you would do these soon lol. I really want to get Naughty Nautical

  4. Love all of these colors! And can I just ask are they your natural nails? I'm sure they are but I just want to check because they're too perfect to be real!!!! :)

  5. 'The Girls Are Out' and 'The More The Merrier' are my favourites :) I do love purples and greens. I could see them paired together as well x

  6. I'm confused...You say: The collection is 6 shades in total but only 6 grabbed me enough to buy them.
    How many are there really?

  7. My nails are natural :)

  9. These are SO PRETTY. It is very rare for me to want an entire collection but they're just so perfect.

  10. There are 6, I bought 4. I fixed that :)

  11. They are currently available at Ulta! I didn't think they were out yet but I stumbled on them yesterday, and they have all six. Saw the display of four at Walgreens as well. Saw them all at Target, which never seemed to get the neons or the bridal collection this year.

  12. WOW!!!! I'm so jealous!! ;) :)

  13. I saw these at Target last week, but I passed them up because I feel like I already have similar colors. But from looking at your swatches, I really want Naughty Nautical and Sunday Funday now!

  14. The neons are in the same display at Target. I don't think they ever get the Bridal collections

  15. NN and Zuza have very different finishes

  16. I am also curious about TMtM versus Def Defying.

  17. I like Full Steam Ahead (shimmery periwnkle) and Rock the Boat (shimmery sky blue), but I could see why you passed on them. There's been a lot of light blues and periwinkles this spring. Naughty Nautical and Sunday Funday also looks like colors I've been seeing a lot of this season. I hate chartreuse, especially on my light skin, so I wouldn't even glance at The More The Merrier. Imo, The Girls Are Out is the winner in this collection. Such a pretty pink, and I don't even like pink!

PS - Why don't you buy your polish at a pro store, like The Industry Source? It's only $4 there (or am I making a mistake assuming your a professional? You definitely polish like a pro!) My mother is retired, but has kept her pro license updated for me, just so I can use her discount (gotta love moms!). I don't mind paying $10 - $12 for an Indie polish, but I hate spending a lot of money on a polish that probably only cost 15 cents to make.

  18. I usually do buy at pro stores but ever since Essie went retail they haven't been getting the collections until 1-2 months after they are out at places like Target :(

  19. You should definitely check out The Industry Source.com then. They get them in quickly. They have the summer and wedding colors in now. They also have Orly, OPI, China Glaze, Zoya, Cuccio, CND, and SpaRitual (I personally haven't found SpaRitual for a pro discount anywhere else).
The only thing I don't like is that s&h is $11.49. But the savings outweight the shipping charges :)

  20. Such nice swatches! None of these are really grabbing me, so I guess that's good for my pocketbook!

  21. I can tell you The More The Merrier is almost a perfect dupe for Nicole By OPI Daffy Dill, Daffy is only a little bit darker.

  22. The More The Merrier is one of those polishes for me, I kept seeing it and passing on it but it kept nagging at the back of my mind. I finally grabbed it the third time I saw it and I am so glad I did! I really love the color, it's so springy and happy. After looking at your swatches I think I might just go back for Naughty Nautical now.

  23. Not at any of the Target locations by me, but good to know for others.

  25. I love your blog. How close is The More the Merrier to L'Oreal's New Money if at all?

  26. I don't own New Money, sorry!
