Girly Bits Emerald City Duo Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Emerald City duo from Girly Bits to share with you! These 2 polishes are from Pam's Spring It On Me Collection, you can get them either individually or as a pair for a couple dollars cheaper! You all know I'm a huge greenaholic so I'm all about these!

Emerald City is an emerald green jelly. The formula was really nice, it applied easily and was very easy to build. I *think* this might be the only emerald jelly I have in my stash...I can't believe I don't already own one (that I can think of anyway!) I used 3 coats for full opacity, it would be easy to do jelly sandwiches with this also!

Emerald City Lights is a duochrome blue/purple shimmer in a sheer emerald green base. I haven't worn this on it's own but you could if you wanted to, I think you'd probably need around 4 coats to get it opaque that way. This pairs really beautifully with Emerald Lights, I think it will look great over black or dark purple also! I used 2 coat of Emerald City lights over Emerald City for the photos below. The formula was nice, it was on the sheer side on it's own but layering it was a breeze! All photos below are in natural sunlight.

Emerald City and Emerald City Lights are available individually for $10 and as a pair for $18.50 on the Girly Bits website. You can also find these at several etailers, for a list check out the Girly Bits site here.

  1. Emerald City looks beautiful on its own! :D I prefer it that way, although the added shimmer does make it look more party-ish XD

  2. I've been into green polishes lately (after a lengthy blue phase). This one's very pretty, with and without the glitter.

  3. $10 apiece, or $9.25 apiece to buy both?? That's more expensive than OPI. Just sayin.

  4. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Indie polish is typically more expensive than mass produced brands like OPI. These polishes are hand poured by an individual, the cost of production, materials etc..for a small business like Girly Bits is much higher than it is for a major corporation.

  5. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! An emerald jelly? *DIES*!

  6. The point is that I've purchased polishes from this particular indie manufacturer and they, in a word, suck. When I wore them brand new, they faded and chipped. Now a year later, they're barely recognizable. They're not even the same color they started out being. Ultimately, they're not worth a whopping $10/each.

  7. I haven't had that happen with any of my Girly Bits polishes, perhaps you should contact Pam directly about the problems you have had with that. I think her polishes are more than worth $10, different strokes for different folks.

  8. It's not for most people, actually. OPI is $9.99 plus tax for us in Canada and I know they're at least double that in Europe. If you don't think they're worth that much, that's your opinion. I love the polishes I've purchased from Pam and the one I had an issue with was replaced without a hassle, and she included a couple others and apologised multiple times, which is much better than the CS some other indies are giving (I know people have had issues with Lynnderella and Lush Lacquer). Like Jen said, different strokes, but I don't think slagging someone in the comment section is very appropriate. If you're upset over the ones you have, contact Pam. I'm sure she'd be more than willing to do whatever she can to make you happy.

  9. Jen-- I JUST viewed a post about a deep green jelly that you had yesterday! So unless you de-stashed it, I think you have two! Haha just to inform you ;)

  10. Emerald City Lights is so pretty!

  11. I swapped that one away a little while ago!

  12. Ralius- if you have had an issue with any of my products, please contact
