Color Secrets Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have an insanely overdue post for you guys of a new to me brand called Color Secrets. I picked up these polishes back in January at ISSE (International Salon & Spa Expo), I've had them swatched and sitting in my drafted posts for months...not really sure why I've never gotten around to posting them until now!

Color Secrets is a local brand to me, they are based out of Southern California and all of their polishes are 3 free and vegan. My favorite thing about these is the price...each polish is only $2.99 on their website (cheap polish, yeah buddy!). Each polish from Color Secrets is named after a movie which I think is fun also, considering I'm guilty of buying things based solely on their name that sort of thing could actually be bad for my bank account.

Check out swatches & reviews of each shade after the jump!

Cinema Paradiso is a bright cobalt blue with an awesome blue shimmer. I don't think I realized how fantastical this was when I bought it. When I put it on I was like :O amazing. dat shimma!! If you are a lover of blue polish like I am you're probably going to need to add this to your collection also. The formula was a little on the thick side but easy to apply, I don't remember having any staining with this but I honestly am not 100% sure about that since the time between me writing this and swatching the polish is a while. I didn't make a note to myself that it stained so I'm assuming it didn't.  I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

It's A Wonderful Life is a dark vampy reddish brown shimmer. I probably already have polishes like this but shoot...I don't even care, I have a soft spot for this kind of glowy vampy shimmers. The formula was really nice, the consistency was good and it flowed really nicely onto the nail. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Something New is a green shimmer. When I bought these I clearly thought this was going to be my favorite simply because it's green...but on the nail this falls a little flat for me. It's pretty but nothing I'm going crazy over. The formula was alright, it was much more sheer than I thought it was going to be but it did build up fairly easy. I used 3 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Sound of Music is an orange creme. This leans a little pastel but it's still pretty bright at the same time, if you don't want a neon orange this might be a nice middle ground. The formula was nice, it was a little streaky but it evened out nicely and was easy to work with. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

The Breakfast Club is a dusty purple toned periwinkle. This is another one of those colors that I have a million of (who am I kidding I have a million every color LOL), but yet I'm still drawn to them and feel the need to buy them repeatedly. I feel like this might be a bit darker than most of the periwinkles I already have but I haven't put it side by side with anything. The formula was great on this polish, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Overall I really like what I bought from this brand, for $2.99 I'm sure I'll be buying more eventually. I need them to make Cinema Paradiso in like every colors...I would legit buy all of them. That polish is easily my favorite of these!

Color Secrets are available on their official website: http://www.colorsecretspro.com/, each polish retails for $2.99, I'm not sure if they ship outside of the US or not.

  1. Wow! $2.99 is such a great price. I've never heard of this brand but I'm definitely going to check them out. I also buy every periwinkle color known to man so The Breakfast Club is my fav.

  8. Hi,

I am wondering if you could recommend to me just one nail polish brand as the best in terms of the material itself (easy good to apply with rich color) and a (great brush).

I am moving and looking at abandoning my current collection (which is old) - and just getting 5 to 10 polishes that I like and will use over and over again.

I am not a fan of how Essie applies. I heard OPI yellows the nails.

    So what do you think?

  12. I was looking at the colors on their website and noticed they're using swatch photos from bloggers without credit. Most of them have the bloggers' watermarks on them, but the ones that don't aren't credited either.
