Essie Fall 2013 Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Today I have the Fall Collection from Essie to share with you! I had been searching for this collection without much luck but my local beauty supply finally got it in a week or so ago! For Fall Essie is releasing 6 new shades including a couple gorgeous shimmers and a really pretty duochrome!

Check out all the swatches after the jump!

After School Boy Blazer is a very dark blue creme. This is one of those blues so dark it looks black, even in direct sunlight it was hard to tell it was blue. The formula was great, the opacity was perfect! I used 1 coat for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Cashmere Bathrobe is a dark grey with a pretty silver shimmer. The shimmer in this was a touch on the hidden side, I could see it indoors and in the shade but it wasn't in your face. The formula was good, it was a great consistency and the opacity was great. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

For The Twill Of It is a grey/purple/blue duochrome. I know a lot of people want to see this next to OPI Peace & Love & OPI, that comparison is coming! I think they are very similar also, though I feel like this is maybe a touch darker...we shall see though! The formula was great, it was nice and opaque! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Lace Is On pink toned purple shimmer. I have to say, I was kinda like meh when I saw this in the bottle but I love it on! It was so glowy and the shade of purple is beautiful. The formula was again, really nice. The consistency was perfect and easy to work with, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Twin Sweater Set is a red creme. This was verging on a crelly, I actually thought it was a jelly when I looked at it in the bottle but it was pretty opaque. The formula was really nice, I did have some staining around my cuticles when I took this off so be careful with removal! I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Vested Interest is a dusty green creme. This is very greyed out and perfect for fall...you already know I love all the greens so this is clearly a favorite for me haha! The formula was great, it was the kind of consistency I love in a creme...a little thick but not too much. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Overall I like this collection, the formulas were all nice which was kind of surprise. I love Essie but sometimes they are so hit or miss with formulas you never know what you're going to get. My favorites are Vested Interest and Cashmere Bathrobe!

  1. Awesome thanks! I think you are hearing the same requests for comparisons over and over! The only ones I care about are Vested interest vs essie school of hard rocks and the peace love and opi vs twill! :) this collection is pretty but seems like there are a ton of reeeeeally similar shades coming out right now ;)

  2. The Lace is On looks a lot like Essie's Jamaica Me Crazy. Is it just me? Vested Interest is also my fave but I won't buy Essie since they are part of L'Oreal and test on animals. Wish they'd stop bc I'd love to buy some of their polishes--but there are too many other fabulous cruelty-free choices out there. Happy weekend!

  3. Nice swatches! I have on For The Twill Of It right now and love it. I'll probably get some more of this collection.

  4. Great swatches, as always. I love Vested Interest, the rest don't really grab my attention. I don't get this duochrome hype! I think it's kind of tacky.

  6. Vested Interest is my favorite! I will need to get it. Can't wait to see your comparison between For The Twill of It and OPI Peace & Love. I can't decide which one to get at the moment.

  8. I'd like to see After School Boy Blazer vs OPI Incognito in Sausalito. They look similar. And I'm looking forward to the comparison of Love, Peace and OPI vs For the Twill of it...they look like dupes...In fact, most of these Essie polishes look similar to the OPI San Fran collection which is kind of a bummer.

  13. I just posted "For the Twill of it" - so hard to capture the beautiful colors on that one! Really looking forward to Cashmere Bathrobe, even the name is nice! :)

  14. Ooh, these are gorgeous!! Curious about how Vested Interest compares to School of Hard Rocks. Thinking it may be more green/less grey, but they seem similar.

I am not sure how I like this collection. The colors seem so random to me and quite dupe-able, too. I like Cashmere Bathrobe though!

  16. I'd like to see The Lace is On vs Essie Sure Shot if you have it!

  17. Vested Interest looks like Essie's School of Hard Rocks. I do think School of Hard Rocks is a tad darker, but I'm not sure. Can you please put them side by side so I can see what's going on? Thanks! :)

  18. Can you do a comparison of Vested Interested and Essie Maximillian Strasse Her?

  19. The Lace is on kinda reminds me Essie Sure Shot. Look forward to see your comparaisons post, I know it is a lot of work, but it is so much appreciated! thanks :)

  20. I have for the twill of it on my left hand and love, peace, and opi on the right hand and you really can't tell any difference

  21. Lovely! Can you please compare After School Boy Blazer with Bobbing for Baubles??

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was bummed that this collection is so similar to the OPI San Fran collection

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can you compare the After School Blazer with OPI's Incognito in Sausalito and Revlon's Midnight? They all look sooooooo close!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Can you compare Cashmere Bathrobe with China Glaze Immortal?

  25. Sorry if this comment posts twice, Disqus is being difficult. I would love to see a comparison of For the Twill of It to Zoya Ki, as well as Peace & Love & OPI

  26. I'm obsessed with navy, so I think School Boy Blazer is for me all the way...

    ReplyDelete
  27. can you compare Twin Sweater Set to the two reds in the OPI San Francisco collection?

  28. Cannot wait for Vested Interest & After School Boy Blazer!

  29. When I compared After School Boy Blazer and Incognito in Sausalito in the bottle at Ulta, it looked like After School Boy Blazer was more purple-ish. But they're both so dark I don't know that the difference would be that noticeable on the nails. Oh well, bought them both anyway. Just waiting for the postman.

  30. Peace, Love, and Polish by BetAugust 9, 2013 at 8:09 PM

Cashmere Bathrobe and The Lace is On are absolutely gorgeous! I saw them both at the store the other day and it took all my willpower not to snatch them up and buy them! But I'm all maxed out on my polish budget, lol!

  31. How does The Lace Is On compare to Orly Beautiful Disaster?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ooh, another comparison I'd like to see. People have mentioned After School Boy Blazer + Incognito in Sausalito, but I'd also appreciate a comparison to OPI's Road House Blues! Thanks a lot for offering!

    ReplyDelete
  33. When you compare For The Twill of It and the OPI, would you also compare them to Essence Chic Reloaded? If you have it :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, that Lace is On also looks very much like Embarca-Dare Ya from OPI. These days every company is duping each other. Which can be good news, as there's other brands I like better than OPI. I'm currently waiting for a dupe to Chanel's Alchemie to come out! :)

  35. I would love to get my harms on vested interest. Looks lovely in the pic...

  36. I just picked up "for the Twill of it"- it was the only one available at Target. I think it's duochrome is almost an exact match to Butter London's Knackered, just minus the shimmer. I haven't tried it on the nail yet, but in the bottle it's really close! So for those of you who loved knackered, you can probably save a bit of money and do for the twill of it with a light shimmer on top :D

  37. I'd like to see For The Twill of It comparison with Zoya Adina. It looks like it is more silver/grey-toned, but I'd like to see them side by side. I kind of feel they seem so similar there is no use owning both colors.

I got Tweed as a gift ( I won't buy essie because they are not cruelty free) and it is a very dark grey with pink flash. Maybe the formula has had poor quality control? Anyway, independent polish makes have much better stuff and they don't pour it into bunny's eyes or whatever.
