Cadillacquer Dexter Collection Swatches & Review

Happy Weekend! Today I have a new to me indie to share with you called Cadillacquer! A few weeks back Llarowe sent me a few polishes to review and one of them was Cadillacquer The Dark Defender. While I was looking up that polish I realized it was part of a Dexter Collection and well...self control went out the window and I bought all the other polishes from the collection because it's a Dexter Collection and I couldn't resist.

Is anyone else completely bummed that the last episode EVER of Dexter is tomorrow night? Dexter is one of my favorite shows, I love the books too, so it makes me sad that its coming to an end. This season has been like the slowest build ever so I'm hoping that by the end of tomorrows episode my mind will just be blown and I'll be like zomg what just happened while I sit in a corner rocking back and forth to console myself. If not, well then you will see me bitching about it on Twitter lol!

Anyway, back to Cadillacquer...Cadillacquer is an indie brand out of Switzerland. All of her polishes are inspired by TV shows, movies and songs etc... If I was an indie maker I'd probably be doing the same sort of things...and there would for sure be a Dexter Collection :D Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Have A Killer Day is a grey base with neon pink square & hex glitter, matte purple glitter and a pretty blue shimmer. The formula was really nice, it was more opaque than I was expecting and the glitter payoff was good1 I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

He Saw, She Saw is a beige crelly base with grey and iridescent glitter along with a subtle green shimmer. This is a surprise favorite for me, it's just like the most perfect glitter filled nude polish in my opinion. It was flattering on my skin tone and I loved how subtle the glitter is. The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the consistency was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

It's Going To Happen Again is a light blue crelly base with blue and white matter glitter along with a blue/green shimmer. The formula was a touch on the thick side but I had no issues with application and the opacity was great! I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Keep Breathing is a light teal base with purple glitter and flecks of white shimmer. The base of this leans a bit more towards green than it was photographing. I love the shimmer in this, it was really interesting looking in person and it gave the polish a nice bit of depth. The formula was good, it was easy to work with and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Masterpiece is a green jelly base with red glitter. This is kind of like Christmas in a bottle, and I love it. I love the contrast between the green base and the red glitter! The formula was good, it was a bit on the sheer side at first due to the jelly base but it built to full opacity easily in 3 coats. Both photos below are in natural sunlight.

Slice of Life is a red jelly base with a nice blue glass fleck like shimmer. Love this one, it was so sparkly out in the sun! The formula was great, it was a really nice consistency and the opacity was really nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below. Both photos are in natural sunlight.

The Dark Defender is green and purple flecks of glitter in a dark blue jelly base. You can see why this polish prompted me to buy the rest of the collection right? This is seriously beautiful, I loved the complexity of it. The formula was good but on the sheer side due to the jelly base. I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Lighting: Shade

The End Begins is a deep green base with copper shimmer and golden glitter. My easy favorite of the collection for a multitude of reasons...mostly because this is very similar to the original concept of my piCture pOlish collaboration shade called Mallard. Whats funny is that originally Mallard was going to be called "Darkly Dreaming" a la Dexter but then the piCture pOlish girls and I decided maybe that was a little too dark of a theme LOL. Anyway, happy dance because now I have a Dexter polish that was similar to what I had always envisioned my perfect Dexter-centric shade to be. :D

The formula of The End Begins was good, it was a little on the sheer side but it built up without any issues. I used 3 coats for the photos below!

Lighting: Shade

Tonight's The Night is a deep purple base with a very strong blue shimmer, holographic square glitter and small bits of holo glitter. I really like this one as well, I liked how the square glitter looked like it was just floating through the base. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Overall I pretty much love this collection, I really enjoy the glitter combos and the interesting shimmers to boot. I kinda feel bad for my bank account now that I've kind of fallen in love with this brand lol!

Cadillacquer is available at cadillacquer.com, remember she is from Switzerland so if you live in the US like I do shipping can take a while. Luckily there are a few etailers you can shop with if you don't want to wait for the postal service to take their sweet time delivering to you. The etailers that carry Cadillacquer are Llarowe, Harlow & Co, Femme Fatale and Beauty So Fly

  1. These are pretty epic. Very unique. I feel the same way about Breaking Bad as you do about Dexter. Two more episodes until the end and I will be crying in the corner myself! Thanks for the awesome pics :D

  3. Great pictures of gorgeous polishes! I did not know that Cadillacquer is made in Europe, it is nice that there is also great european indie brands available. I really have to have these all since I also love Dexter show :). I cannot believe that the end of the show is so near...
Hopefully the end is as good as the show has been. In Finland the final
episode is not aired tomorrow, but in the 25th day so have to
wait a little bit longer than you.

  6. Some lovely colours in there! I particularly liked The End Begins, The Dark Defender, Keep Breathing and It's Going To Happen Again.

This post has got me thinking about all the TV show-themed nail polish lines I'd like to see, particularly a Criminal Minds one! Even to the extent I'm thinking of colours and names...

  8. One of the few nice pop-culture themed collections I've seen! Tonight's the Night is really pretty. This is cohesive and lovely...and I love your idea of the name Darkly Dreaming for a polish.
