Contrary Polish Fall 2013 No Place Like Home Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have a beautiful new collection from Contrary Polish to share with you! This collection is called No Place Like Home and it's inspired by several neighborhoods around Carrie's hometown of Kansas City. The collection is full of the beautiful shimmers Contrary Polish is known for and that I love so much. There is also a great glow in the dark polish in this collection, which is exciting! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

18th & Vine is a deep blurple with a beautiful pink shimmer. This is walking the line perfectly between blue and purple, I feel like it doesn't lean too much in either direction. I also love that shimmer, it was a bit hidden in lower lighting though. The formula was really nice, the opacity was good and I liked the consistency of the polish. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

River Market is a deep purple jelly base with raspberry shimmer/micro glitter. This is a favorite for me, if you liked CrowsToes Tiki Torch you'll like this also. It's like the vampy version of it! The shimmer was a bit more visible in person, but not in your face. The formula was good, it started out sheer but built up to full opacity easily in 3 coats

Lighting: Shade

The Boulevard is a dusty navy blue jelly base with orangey red shimmer/micro glitter. This is another favorite for me, I love how the shimmer contrasts with the base color and it's so perfect for Fall! The formula was really nice, it was a good consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

The Plaza is a concrete grey base with ruby red, bright blue, and yellow shimmer/micro glitter. I love how varied the shimmer is in this, this is pretty unique in my collection which is always nice! The formula was again, really nice. It started out a bit sheer on the first coat but was completely opaque with the second coat.

Lighting: Shade

West Bottoms is a bright yellowish green with gold to green shimmer, it also glows in the dark! This is a nod to Halloween and is inspired by the haunted houses in the West Bottoms area of Kansas City. This is good on it's own or you can layer it over another color (though it doesn't glow quite as bright layered). The formula was a bit on the sheer side but it built up easily, for some reason it looks less opaque than it was in person in the photos. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: my dark Garage

Westport is a dusty olive green with a nice golden shimmer. Clearly my absolute favorite because well...it's green lol! The shimmer is really nice in this, it looks good out in the sun and in the shade. The formula was great, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade
I also wanted to share with you guys a collage that Carrie sent to me of the inspirations behind the shades. I like things like this so I thought you guys might also!

  4. Beautiful swatches! I love 18th & Vine, but it looks a lot like China Glaze's "Fancy Pants". How similar are they?

  5. I haven't put them side by side but they look pretty close in photos. I think the shimmer in fancy pants is a bit more pronounced though
