Saturday Spam: Serum No. 5

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good weekend so far! Today I have some Serum No. 5 spam for you! Victoria of Serum No. 5 makes some incredible glow in the dark polishes along with a lot of beautiful glitters and more! If you're in the So Cal area she is actually hosting a big old charity event next weekend on November 10th called Love Preview. I'll be there along with a lot of great indie brands and other retailers. It's going to be a fun night for a great cause so if any of you are in the area you should come! You can pick up tickets over on the Love, Preview website! If you don't live in the area but still want to contribute to the event you can donate on the Indiegogo page Victoria set up, there are tons of perks for donating, including a special glow in the dark polish just for the event! To check that out visit the Indiegogo page for the event!

Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Just wanted to mention up here...my apologies for the blurriness of some of the glow in the dark polish photos. I haven't figured out a good and easy way to photograph them lol!

As A Matte A Fact is a matte shimmery top coat. This can be put over any shade and it gives it a suede like look along with a bit of shimmer. The formula was good, it dries to a satin matte finish and is quick drying and easy to apply. I used 1 coat over LCN Liz for the photos below.

Barely There is a beige nude polish with micro silver glitter, silver prisms and silver hex glitter. This is a great neutral with a little something special, I always love these types of polishes! The formula was good, it was a touch on the sheer side but easily buildable and opaque in 3 coats.

Lighting: Shade

Burning Orchid is a glow in the dark shimmer. This can be worn on it's own or layered, I like it over black because it makes the shimmer look all kinds of amazing! The formula was great, I used 1 coat over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below.

Call It A 'Treuese is a chartreuse base with green, chartreuse and fuchsia glitter. I really like this, it's such a weird combo...right up my alley! The formula was good, it was much more opaque than I was expecting it to be! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Day Glow is a glow in the dark lemon yellow. This is hands down the best glow in the dark polish I have ever seen or owned. I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I love this, the glow is just insane. When I wore this I woke up at like 3 am and my nails were STILL glowing, what the heck!! If you've been looking for a good glowing polish this is it. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque but a bit streaky. It was opaque with 2 coats but I used 3 to even it out. This does dry to a bit of a satin matte finish, I used top coat for my photos.

Eternal Sunshine is a golden shimmery polish that glows in the dark. I really like this one, it's beautiful out in the sun and gorgeous in the dark. The formula was great, it was nice and opaque. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

camera, y u make everything blurry?!?

Girl's Gotta Eat is gold and platinum glitter along with gold shimmer in a clear base. This is a great glitter topper, the shimmer is what drew me in...this will look good over so many different base colors! The formula was good, I used 2 coats over LCN Rita for the photos below.

Mint To Be is a minty green with a touch of shimmer along with silver hex glitter. This is really pretty...kind of reminds me of ice cream for some reason haha! The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good for such a light color. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Sky Lights is a glow in the dark blue shimmer. This is a beautiful polish for layering, the base ends up being translucent once it dries even though it looks white in the bottle. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 1 coat over Zoya Maria for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Sunset Flare is a pink/red/orange duochrome that glows in the dark...yeah a glow in the dark duochrome. I didn't even know that existed prior to getting this in the mail. The duochrome is nice and strong, this polish seriously looks good in every lighting (and even when there is no light!)! The formula was good, it was a touch sheer so you could layer it easily if you wanted to. I used 3 coats on it's own for the photos below.

Twilight Spark is a glow in the dark murky green shimmer. This has a really pretty gold shimmer and at some angles a dark blue duochrome. This is a favorite for me, it was one that when I saw it I was like omg I can't want to wear this...and it didn't disappoint at all! The formula was great, it was a good consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

  4. These are all very pretty! I'd love to go to the event, but it keeps killing me that it's in Costa Mesa on a Sunday night. Bit far out from northern LA D: *sobs*

Thank you for the swatches, they are beautiful! Did you use top coat over Twilight Sparks? I thought it had a matte finish...

  8. I know how that goes, usually it's the opposite for me. Everything I want to go to is in LA but I'm in OC

  9. Considering I live in Costa Mesa, I should be the first one there but I'm afraid of what I will do there....I can't leave my wallet behind and I fear that I lack all self-control in such a setting. To go or not to go: it's the Sophie's Choice of indie polish.

  10. You have to come, I want to meet you!! I'm setting myself a budget and only brining that much in cash so I can't spend more lol

  11. I love the Zoya/Sky Lights combo. However, I can't find that shade listed anywhere. You said it's called Maria? Is it maybe called something else or is it just an old shade that's been discontinued?

  12. It was part of one of the Fashion Week trios Zoya put out, I don't think it's available anymore but Zoya has a habit of re-releasing shades from those trios so it might be available in one of their seasonal collections in 2014 if we're lucky!

  13. The grass is always greener! I remind myself that LA does get a lot of cool things so I shouldn't whine, but it is hard sometimes. Lol
