Whimsical Ideas by Pam Holiday 2013 It's A Whimsical Life Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have the new Whimsical Ideas by Pam Collection for Holiday 2013 to share with you! This collection is called It's A Whimsical Life and it features 6 new shades and 2 favorites from last years Holiday Collection! I  have been looking forward to this collection for a while, I always love what Pam does, it was such a nice surprise when these showed up at my door step.  I think Degen likes when I get packages from Pam also because they smell like her cat Kismet, they always get an extra inspection when he's giving everything the once over haha! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Big River is a cobalt blue with bright emerald green glitter. Yeah....I love this. This is one of my favorite Whimsy's ever, the combo is just striking. Funny story, when I got this in the mail I was like OMG and took a bottle shot then texted it to Kirsten from Glitta Gloves being like !!!!!! zomg, after I sent it I realized I texted it to a coworker...not Kirsten. As if my coworkers didn't already think I was crazy enough. I'm sure she was like o.O wtf. We had a good laugh about it the next time I saw that girl in the office. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer on the first coat but completely opaque with the second coat. I like how opaque the base gets but it doesn't hide any of that gorgeous glitter. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Bunny Slippers is matte grey hex glitter and baby pink hex and circle glitter in a shimmery base. The base has a very slight holo to it, it's more noticeable when you layer this over dark colors but I could still see it over my base color in person! The formula was good, I did have some issues with the glitter bunching together but I think that was mostly due to my impatience and not the polish lol! I used 1 coat over Zoya Kendal for the photos below.

Enchanted Forest is green, blue and red glitter in a clear base. Pam calls this Christmas in a bottle and I agree, I especially love the pops of red to accent the blue and green glitter! The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over LCN Knitting Wool for the photos below.

Jazz Hands is a mix of light and medium blue hex glitter along with holographic silver square glitter in a clear base. This is perfect for those that don't celebrate Christmas, very Hanukkah appropriate! This was so much more sparkly in person, photos just don't capture that holo-ness the silver square glitter has. The formula was again really nice, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over LCN Chocolate Fudge for the photos below.

Peas On Earth is a bright shimmer green packed with small multicolored glitter. This one is one of the shades Pam brought back from last year. I really can't believe I didn't pick this up last year...it's totally my kinda color! The formula was good, it was a bit sheer but easy to build up to be opaque. I used 3 coats for full opacity but if your nails are shorter than mine 2 coats would probably be just fine.

Peppermint Schtick is red and white glitter in various sizes in a clear base. This is another another shade from last year that Pam brought back. This is on of my favorites, I bought it last year and still love it just as much as I did before. The formula is good, the bigger glitter can be a little bit elusive at times but I had no problem getting it onto the nail with a little fishing. I used 1 coat over Lacquer Lust From Dusk Till Dawn for the photos below.

Snow Business is small silver glitter with silver star glitter and pops of bright blue glitter in a clear base. I love the bright blue glitter in this, it really pops over a dark base! The formula was great, it was super easy to get the stars out and onto the nail and the glitter payoff in general was great. I used 1 coat over LCN Home Sweet Home for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Sugarplum is lavender, brown and pink glitter in a clear base. No surprise, I love this one too haha! I have a thing for brown and pink and the added purple is just like the cherry on top. This is such a pretty combo and I think it will look great over a nice variety of base colors. The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was good.  I used 2 coats over Lacquer Lust Butt Bootie Naked for the photos below.

Overall, as per usual I love everything. Pam never disappoints me. If I had to pick favorites they would be Big River, Sugarplum and Snow Business.

  3. I also had problems with Bunny Slippers bunching up but it was not bad. A few more layers of it and it evened out. It's one of my favorites now.

  6. I have to say, some of these glitters are a little too simple to me. But Sugarplum and Big River are gorgeous!

  7. I totally love Pam's creations. I ordered all except blue River and peas on earth. I love the pairing of the brown with the Jazz Hands. I hope you don't mind but I might use a brown with Jazz Hands also.
