Maya Cosmetics Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone have big plans for this weekend? It's supposed to be really nice here this weekend, I'm thinking about going to a thing called the Fish Fry tomorrow. The Fish Fry is pretty much just like a little carnival thing that happens where I live every year...I don't think they actually fry fish at it. I wonder why it's called that. Anyway, I've been going to it since I was a kid, it used to be much bigger of a deal when I was younger...there was a parade and everything. Now there are just some rides and random food but it's still fun to go!

Today I have a few polishes from an indie brand called Maya Cosmetics to share with you! I heard about this brand a little while back from seeing swatches over on Imperfectly Painted, since then they've been on my list of brands I needed to try! Maya Cosmetics has a little bit of everything in terms of finishes, from glitter to shimmer...I really love some of the unique color combos also!

Essie Summer 2013 Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good day so far! Today I have most of the new Essie Collection for Summer 2013. The collection is 6 shades in total but only 4 grabbed me enough to buy them when I spotted them on an end cap at Target. These caught my attention because of the pretty shimmer, I'm a sucker for shimmer...what can I say?!? Check out the swatches & review of each shade after the jump!

JulieG Frosted Gumdrops Collection Swatches

Hi guys!  Today I have the new-ish JulieG Frosted Gumdrops to share with you! I picked these up a little while back when Groupon had a deal on the whole set that I just couldn't pass up. I was planning on getting these once my Rite Aid store got them anyway haha! The Frosted Gumdrops Collection is 6 textured polishes, I'm still loving the trend :)

Essence Nail Art Twins Reloaded: Romeo & Juliet

Hi guys! Today I have a a cute Essence duo to share with you guys! I'm pretty excited about this duo because until very recently this isn't something I could get here. Essence is mostly a European brand, Ulta started carrying a very very small selection of their polishes a while back but they never get these. Anyway, Ninja Polish just started carrying Essence and they have 3 of the Nail Art Twins Reloaded duo's up on their website right now. The Nail Art Twins duos each come with a creme and a glitter top coat that pair together really nicely.

The duo I have today is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is a dark purple creme, it's leaning a bit more blue in photos than it does in person...it's like a nice dark grape. The formula on Romeo was great, it was nice and creamy...very easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below. Juliet is a glitter top coat that is packed with purple and holographic glitter in different shapes/sizes. The formula was a little bit thick but the glitter payoff was great and it was easy to apply. I used 1 coat over Romeo on my ring finger as an accent nail for the photos below.

Essence is now available at NinjaPolish.com, each polish retails for $7.50. In Europe I know you can find these in actual stores but since I don't live there I can't really tell you much more about that :)

Salon Perfect Neon Collision Collection Swatches

Hi guys, hope you all had a great weekend! For those of you in the states I hope you're all getting a nice long weekend like I am, I seriously live for 3 day weekends! Today I have half of the new Neon Collision Collection from Salon Perfect to share with you. Salon Perfect is a brand that can be found at Walmart stores, it's made by the same people that make China Glaze so you can often find some crossover shades within the brand for a bit cheaper! The Neon Collision Collection is 6 matte neon glitter mixes in a clear base...very Floam-esque. I think this is probably the best (and most obvious) example of indie polishes crossing into the main stream that we've seen yet!
Check out swatches & review of each polish after the jump!

Beautifully Disney Wickedly Beautiful Collection Swatches

Hi guys, happy Friday! Today I have a fun post for you! A couple months ago I heard about a Disney branded line of cosmetics called Beautifully Disney, the collection is only available at Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney World in Orlando (or via phone). Beautifully Disney's first collection is called Wickedly Beautiful and the nail polish part of the collection is split into 2 sets, one for the 4 most popular Disney Princesses and one for the 4 villains that correspond to that princess. Other than nail polish there is also a couple of eye shadow palettes, lip glosses and makeup bags. The first collection is focused on Ariel (Little Mermaid), Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Snow White.  From what I understand from talking to the girl at the Vault 28 store there are more collections planned for the future that will focus on the other princesses, so if you're favorite isn't in here no worries!

Once I heard about the collection I went over to Downtown Disney and picked up all the polishes, a lip gloss and an eye shadow palette. I'm pretty sure the girl thought I was some kind of hoarder...I was like what, I really like Disney and make up...sue me. Between this official Disney line and the collaborations they have been doing with Sephora my bank account is seriously sad!

Girly Bits Emerald City Duo Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Emerald City duo from Girly Bits to share with you! These 2 polishes are from Pam's Spring It On Me Collection, you can get them either individually or as a pair for a couple dollars cheaper! You all know I'm a huge greenaholic so I'm all about these!

Emerald City is an emerald green jelly. The formula was really nice, it applied easily and was very easy to build. I *think* this might be the only emerald jelly I have in my stash...I can't believe I don't already own one (that I can think of anyway!) I used 3 coats for full opacity, it would be easy to do jelly sandwiches with this also!

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting: Shade
Emerald City Lights is a duochrome blue/purple shimmer in a sheer emerald green base. I haven't worn this on it's own but you could if you wanted to, I think you'd probably need around 4 coats to get it opaque that way. This pairs really beautifully with Emerald Lights, I think it will look great over black or dark purple also! I used 2 coat of Emerald City lights over Emerald City for the photos below. The formula was nice, it was on the sheer side on it's own but layering it was a breeze! All photos below are in natural sunlight.

Emerald City and Emerald City Lights are available individually for $10 and as a pair for $18.50 on the Girly Bits website. You can also find these at several etailers, for a list check out the Girly Bits site here.

NOTD: Fun with Embossing Powder

Hi guys! Today I have a bit of an experiment for you! I went by Michaels over the weekend to get a couple things for a different nail art thing I have planned and I ended up getting sucked into the scrapbooking section. I swear, that aisle is like a money pit for me, I don't even scrapbook I just buy all sorts of random stuff to see if I can somehow stick it to my nails. I remember seeing Embossing Powder there when I bought flocking powder a while back but I didn't buy it for some reason. Anyway, this time I was a sucker and I couldn't resist, as far as I know embossing powder is used with stamping...you pour it over the wet ink and then use heat on it. I kinda wanna try that just to see what it does.  Michaels had a whole rainbow of colors of embossing powder, everything from matte semi neon shades to metallics and some with sparkle.

I wasn't sure how this would turn out so I ended up buying a 5 pack that came with purple, pink, blue, light yellow and lime green powder. Each one came in a little tube which you can sort of see in the photo below. I decided to mix all 5 color together and see what happened when I sprinkled it over wet polish (OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the photo below). I quite like the result!

Once this was dry it kind of had the texture of glittery textured polishes we've seen so much this year. This could be a good way to DIY a texture polish if you want a specific color combo! I tried this with top coat and I wouldn't recommend it, it looked like it melted the pink and purple colored powder and it just wasn't as pretty. Removal was easy, just regular polish remover did the job and there was no scrubbing involved.

Lighting: Sunlight

So what do you think? Is this something you'd try? I really like it, it was pretty in person and I like the idea of the endless color combos. I think I'll probably be stopping by Michaels again to pick up a few more colors!

Contrary Polish Ain't That A Beach Trio Swatches

Hi guys, hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was nice, I spent some time organizing my nail polish...I always find that to be really relaxing. Sorting things calms me down, I think it's the Virgo in me haha! I also got a whole bunch done for the blog which was needed, I usually type up posts the night before they are live but I've managed to schedule myself out like 2 weeks ahead...yay! I don't think that has ever happened before!

Today I have the newest trio from Contrary Polish called the Ain't That A Beach trio to share with you guys! I pretty much love everything Contrary Polish puts out, I love good shimmers and Contrary Polish does them well! I was excited about this collection just from the name before I even saw the colors. I've lived in So Cal my whole life and when I was a kid I spent a ton of time at the beach, still do! Check out swatches & reviews of all 3 polishes from this trio after the jump!

Dermelect Swatches- Phenom, Stunner & Vivacious

Hi guys, hope you're all having a good weekend so far! Today I have 3 new Dermelect polishes to share with you. These 3 polishes are part of a 12 piece collection that Dermelect released back in April! If you've never heard of Dermelect before what makes their polish different from others is that they are infused with ProSina which is a pure protein peptide. I talked a bit about it last time I swatched a few of these polishes, you can check that post out here!

Orly Summer 2013 Mash Up Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys, happy Friday! Today I have Orly's Summer 2013 Mash Up Collection to share with you! I wasn't sure I'd get anything from this collection, mostly because I don't really care for the new Orly bottles and it turns me off of buying from them but then I saw these in person and ended up bringing them home...I couldn't resist the shimmer and glitter! For Summer this year Orly has given us a bit of an eclectic collection that includes everything from an eye searing neon to an almost pastel creme. There is a bit of something for everyone in here! check out the swatches & reviews after the jump!

Girly Bits Bachelor's Button

Hi guys! Today I have a short but sweet post for ya! It's Girly Bits Bachelor's Button, this is another one of the polishes Pam has put out for Spring this year. Bachelor's Button is a dusty cornflower blue with a beautiful linear holo effect. The holo isn't crazy and in your face but it's more obvious in person than it appears in photos. The formula was really nice, this was a breeze to apply and the opacity was good. I didn't have any issues with top coat dulling the holo etc.. I used 2 coats for the photos below, all photos are in natural sunlight!

Girly Bits is available at girlybits.bigcartel.com Bachelor's Button retails for $11.50. You can also find Girly Bits at several etailers, for a full list click here!

Essie Neon 2013 Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have Essie's 2013 Neon Collection to share with you guys! I wasn't planning on picking these up but I wandered into my local beauty supply and well...I couldn't resist due to my total lack of self control. This years neons include 6 new polishes, once I saw them in person I was pretty excited about them because the colors are more exciting than what Essie did last year in terms of neons.

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was nice and relaxing! I got my car back on Friday so that was a nice start to the weekend. A few weeks ago some idiot making an illegal turn hit me, I had to get a whole new drivers side door...crazy!

Today I have 4 of the new Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat polishes to share with you. I stopped by Target on Friday night to pick up a prescription and spotted these on an endcap along with the new Sally Hansen Sugar Coat texture polishes (they look similar to the China Glaze Textures). The Fuzzy Coat polishes are different mixes of small bar glitter in a clear base. I ended up picking up 4 of the Fuzzy Coat polishes, there were a few other shades but they looked like dupes of the Nails Inc Feather polishes so I decided to not buy them.

Check out the swatches & reviews by clicking the read more button below.

Girly Bits Face The Music & Spring It On Me! Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone have big plans for this weekend? I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet other than some kind of Mothers Day dinner for my Grandma and Mom. I still have to go out and buy gifts for Mothers Day, I never know what to get my Mom and Grandma for this day...I'm great at birthday shopping but all these other random gift buying holidays always stump me. Anyway, today I have a couple Girly Bits polishes to share with you guys! Keep on reading to check em out!

Face The Music is a bright neon green shimmery jelly with black hex glitter and black star glitter. This polish is the first polish in Pam's concert series and is for the Marianas Trench concert she recently attended. I really like the idea of making polishes based off concerts, if I was an indie maker that is totally something I'd do also! The formula was good on this polish, it was much more opaque than I expected it to be and it wasn't streaky or patchy. I did have to fish a bit for the black star glitter but they were pretty abundant in the bottle so it was easy to get them out. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting: office lighting (how exciting)

Spring It On Me! is a slightly lavender tinted milky base packed with glitter and a very subtle holo effect which is not translating in photos *sad face*. This is meant to be layered but shoot, I like it best on it's own...I am a rebel! The formula was really nice, it wasn't thick at all and the glitter was easy to get onto the nail. I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Lighting: Sunlight

Lighting; Sunlight

Face The Music and Spring It On Me! are both available for $10 at girlybits.bigcartel.com/, you can also find them at the other Girly Bits stockist listed here.

China Glaze Summer 2013 Sunsational Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have the China Glaze Summer 2013 Sunsational Collection to share with you! I've been waiting for these to arrive at my local beauty supply since I saw them at ISSE in January, mostly because half of this collection is jellies and that intrigued me! I've been patiently waiting for these to arrive at my local store and when they finally did last week I drove over and bought them all, self control be damned! If you follow me on Instagram you can see a photo of my shopping spree from that trip...I went a bit crazy since I hadn't bought any polish in over a month!

Anyway, the Sunsational Collection is split up into 2 parts. Half of the collection is cremes and the other half is jellies. I thought about splitting this up into 2 posts but decided to just lump the whole thing together! Check out the swatches & reviews by clicking the read more button under the collage!

piCture pOlish G'day Matte Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Happy weekend!! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm going to be basking in the beautiful weather we are having here, it's been straight up like Summer...it was in the 90's yesterday!

Today I have a review a kind of a little spam post of the new piCture pOlish matte top coat called g'day matte! This was just launched a couple of weeks ago and it's my personal favorite thing of all the new launches from piCture pOlish! I love matte top coats, usually anything that looks good shiny will look even better matte, especially glitters! As soon as I opened the package with g'day matte in it I was like I MUST MATTE ALL THE THINGS, I looked sort of crazy and possessed like the meme below (we've all been there, right?). Check out my review and a bunch of mattified glitters after the jump!

Hi guys! Can you believe it's May 1st?!? I feel like April went pretty slowly for me but the year as a whole is going by way too fast for my liking. Today I have the 3 new blogger collaboration shades that piCture pOlish just recently released. I've been looking forward to these, it's fun to see what other bloggers come up with since they are usually things I feel like I'm also missing in my collection!  Check out the swatches after the jump!
