Contrary Polish On The Rocks Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone doing anything fun and exciting this weekend? I'm cleaning...how exciting. Since I'm planning on buying a place later this year I figure I should get a jump start on getting rid of crap I don't need...I tend to hoard useless junk and clothing I never wear so I'm going to have a massive throwing away and donating spree this weekend...and many weekends to follow. Anyway, today I have the gorgeous Winter Collection from Contrary Polish called On The Rocks to share with you! I always look forward to what Carrie from Contrary Polish has coming out, her shimmers are always gorgeous! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Almandine is an oxblood red base with gold to green color shifting shimmer. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. This was a little patchy on the fist coat but perfect with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Dioptase is a very green leaning teal with gold and green shimmer. You guys know how I feel about green! The formula was good, a little sheer but easy to build. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Flourite is a blurple base with green & pink shimmer. Depending on the lighting this leans between blue and purple, out in the sun it would look more blue and in the shade more purple. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Graphite is a grey jelly with multicolored shimmer and greyish flakes of glitter. I really like the flakes of glitter in this, they are subtle but give the polish really nice depth. The formula was good, because it's more of a jelly-ish base it was a little sheer but easy to build. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Obsidian is a very dark, almost black, purple base with a strong green shimmer. This shimmer has a touch of a duochrome to it but it mostly looked green to me. I love this one, I like how dark the base is but it doesn't eat the shimmer completely. The formula was good, it was a little bit sheer at first but it was easy to build. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Rainbow Hematite is a greyed out purple with a subtle holo. This polish is a bit special, you can only get it when you order the collection directly from Contrary Polish, it's not available from any of the shops that stock the brand. The formula was good, it was a little patchy on the first coat but perfect with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Tiger's Eye is a golden brown base with a strong golden shimmer. This is my favorite of the collection, it's such a gorgeous brown and I don't feel like I really have anything quite like it. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The On The Rocks Collection is available now, you can order direct from Contrary Polish...for info about that please see the sidebar of her blog here. You can also find Contrary Polish at Llarowe, Femme Fatale, Norway Nails, Rainbow Connection and Mei Mei's Signatures.

  1. Obsidian looks interesting, nice and unique!

  2. That was an awesome beauty product...

  3. OMG Gorgeous!! I have been waiting for swatches of the new collection since Cyber Monday! I love Carrie and love her polishes and just love everything about Contrary Polish! My faves here are probably Tiger's Eye, Graphite and Obsidian. I am actually surprised by how much I like Obsidian - black/green combos don't usually appeal to me. But this polish looks gorgeous - rich, mysterious and deep. LOVE!! Ohhnhh nooo - and I was supposed to be on a no-buy for the rest of the month =/ Sigh. Anyhoo, thanks so much for posting! Beautiful swatches ;)

  4. I seriously want every single one of these polishes. GORGEOUS! Especially Almandine!

  5. Obsidian and Tiger's Eye are so good! I never tried Contrary Polish before, but these swatches are really making me want to!

  6. I think Graphite, Obsidian and Tiger's Eye will need to come home with me! I love Contrary shimmers :)

  7. Tiger's Eye is my fave, too! Gorgeous colors & photos.
