Nicole by OPI Carrie Underwood Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good day so far, for me it's kind of weird being at work today after having the last 2 Wednesday's off thanks to the holidays. I've already started counting down to the next paid holiday I get off from work...bad I know lol! Today I have the newest celebrity collaboration from Nicole by OPI to share with you. This collaboration is with Carrie Underwood! I've liked Carrie since the American Idol days, it's crazy how far shes come since then!  The collection brings us 14 new shades, everything from soft pink cremes to vampy shimmers and fun glitter toppers...there is even some flower shaped glitter in this collection! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

As always if there are any comparisons you'd like to see please leave them in the comments!

American As Apple Pie is a classic red with a slight shimmer. The shimmer is fairly hidden, even in direct sunlight, but at the right angle it peeks out! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was fantastic. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Backstage Pass is a blackened base with magenta shimmer. This reminds me a lot of old OPI shades, ones like Midnight In Moscow! The shimmer is a bit hidden, even in direct light, but it was visible at the right angle and it gave nice depth to the polish out in the sun. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer at first but it was easily buildable. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Carnival Cotton Candy is a cotton candy pink creme. This was a little bit darker in person, my camera was washing it out a tiny bit. The formula was good, it was nice and opaque and while there was some streakyness it was very minor. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Color Me Country is a medium pink creme. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Fisher Queen is a deep vampy purple shimmer. The shimmer is a bit hidden in this one also, but not as much as the other shimmers in the collection. The formula was good, as was the opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Get Carrie'd Away is a golden glitter. This is gorgeous, it would be good for layering but I prefer it on it's own!  The formula was good, it was more opaque than I expected which is always nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below. This does dry with a little bit of texture but nothing crazy.

Lighting: Shade

Goodbye Shoes is a grey toned green. You know me, I'm always happy to see a good green in a collection. I like the dusty-ness this one has to it. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and nice and opaque. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lips are Dripping Honey is gold and pink iridescent glitter in a clear base. I like this, I think it will look great over a variety of  base colors and because some of the glitter is iridescent it can totally change up how the glitter appears depending on how you layer it. The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was good. I used 1 coat over Sweet Daisy for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Love My Pups is a baby pink creme. This is not a polish I'd typically be drawn to but I ended up really liking it on, it's a really nice palette cleanser and it's super flattering. The formula was good, it was a bit sheer but it built up to full opacity pretty easily and it wasn't streaky. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Party Bus is a silver and silver holographic glitter in a clear base. This has flower shaped glitter which is fun, I don't *think* Nicole by OPI has done that kind of glitter before...or maybe they have and I just don't remember it. The formula was good, it wasn't thick. but I did find the flower glitter a bit tricky to get out of the bottle. I ended up fishing them out pretty easily and placing those glitters onto the nail. I used 1 coat dabbed on over Color Me Country for the photos below.

Sing You Like A Bee is a golden/white shimmer. This is one that you can wear on it's own or layered, I prefer it layered. I found that the formula was on the thick side so it might be a little difficult on it's own unless you thin it a bit. I used 1 coat over Southern Charm for the photos below. Can I just say...this combo was crazy stunning. If you get these 2 polishes you have to try them together!

Some Hearts is a coral creme. This leans toward dark reddish pink on me but depending on your skintone is might lean more pink or more red. The formula was good, I really liked the consistency of this polish and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Southern Charm is a nude creme. I like this one, it looks like foundation to me and for some reason I really like polishes like that haha. It's a little dark on me to be a true nude but it's very flattering on and it's one I know I'll wear in the future. The formula was good, it was a little sheer but easy to build and it wasn't streaky. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Sweet Daisy is a peachy/pink/orange creme. It's kind of salmon colored I guess...I can't think of another way to describe it haha! This is a favorite for me, its an interesting shade and I love how it looks on my skin tone. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I like the Carrie Underwood Collection. I do feel like it's very pink heavy so I wish there was more variety but there are some really pretty polishes in here. My favorites are Sweet Daisy, Sing You Like A Bee,  Goodbye Shoes and Get Carrie'd Away.

The Carrie Underwood Collection will be available January 2014 for $7.99 each at retailers including select CVS, Duane Reade, HEB, Kroger, Kmart, Ulta, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Meijer, and Harmon locations.  In Canada, these shades will be available for $10.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Target Canada, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, London Drug, and Loblaws.

  2. This whole entire collection is gorgeous and I love every single polish. My polish collection is already very pink heavy - I love pinks, but I'm most excited about the glitters in this collection :)

  3. The Sing You Like A Bee combo is absolutely beautiful! Color Me Country is pretty but quite dupable (i think?), and Get Carrie'd Away is amazing too! <3

  7. But..but...I promised myself no more polish. I "need" a couple of these just because it's Carrie Underwood. Especially Southern Charm for the new job. Whoops! I really love your blog by the way. We have the same skin tone so I know just what these colors will look like on me.

I really like the purple!! And 'Party Bus' looks very interesting! Will have to look out for these online as no where near me sells these polishes. Thank you :) how does the purple shade compare to other OPI polishes like say Russian Navy?

  13. I agree. Saw these at Kmart today and didn't get any of them. Kinda feel like most of these shades have already been done. I do agree that Sing You Like a Bee is awesome though!

Fisher Queen and Goodbye Shoes will be mine.

  18. Jen, this is actually a random question but do you have a list anywhere of one coat polishes? I didn't have much time to do my nails last night and of course couldn't remember which polishes I have that I could pull off in one coat. I certainly will start keep track now, when you make mention of one so I get a list started. Thanks for sharing if you do have a database for this!

  19. Nope, I don't...sorry

  20. Backstage Pass and Goodbye Shoes are SO my thing! But, no NOPI for me as they aren't available here :(

  21. Hi, I just found you, your descriptions are amazing!!!
Could you also talk about the difficulties in removing the polishes though? Personally I love glitter polishes but I rarely put them on/buy them, because of how difficult they are to remove sometimes :/ I think it would be a great addition to your descriptions :)
P.S. I don't know if anyone else has already asked you this, so sorry if this is repetitive for you :/

  22. ahhhh I've been waiting for your swatches and they did not disappoint. 5 of these have been added to my wishlist and may just move to the top!

Overall I think it's kind of boring. Love My Pups certainly looked pretty on you! Fisher Queen is a gorgeous purple. I've added these two to my Wish List. :)

  26. I have Mariah's Snow Slope Sweetie I have almost her whole collection unopened. I saw that it looks very similar Love it!

  27. I promised myself before I saw these I would only buy 1. WOW they are so BEAUTIFUL! Maybe I can buy a few, then that turns into more ha! I just got almost all of Mariah's collection for Xmas-15 of them. I LUV ALL OF CARRIE'S OH NO!!! and they are available at a lot of stores

    ReplyDelete
  28. It looks like they are all sold seperately. I got some of Mariah's in boxes (smaller polishes) and then some big bottles too. I am so afraid I will buy all of Carrie's ha!

  29. I wonder if Goodbye Shoes is a dupe for Essie Vested Interest based on these pics

  30. How does this brand compare to Essie. I have over 40 Essie and only 1 OPI/3 China Glaze.. I borrowed OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark from my boss and I felt the formula was off. It didn't glide on as smooth as Essie polishes do. Maybe it was all in my head and I'm being neurotic lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. Polishes from all of the brands are hit or miss, typically I like Nicole by OPI as much as Essie/OPI etc..

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can you please compare Some Hearts to China Glaze's Passion for Petals? Thanks!

  33. Would it be possible to swatch Southern Charm against Samoan Sand? I can see that its a pretty bomb nude against your skin tone but Imma tan gal and ive found San tan-tonio to be my go to nude with Samoan Sand to be the lightest and pinkest I can get away with with out looking ghastly...I don't know my mac shade of foundation but if it helps I'm wear 175 in Makeup Forever HD Foundation...and with that said do you think Sweet as a Daisy would look nice on my skin tone? It looks wonderful on you.

  34. I love Carnival Cotton Candy!!

  35. Hi, just FYI, your pictures are being used by an ebay seller... You'll find them by searching for this polish on it. Just thought you might want to know :) great reviews, by the way! I go through your posts almost religiously before buying my polishes!

  36. Hello again!!! I have two questions:

    1) Would you recommend some base colors to use beneath Lips are Dripping Honey, please? Not even specific hues/shades (unless so inclined), but rather, just some general color suggestions (like, "Would look great over 'Barbie pink' or cotton candy or dark blue..."?

    2) The pic of Love My Pups - is that a French manicure, or just three coats over your natural nail w/ no tip highlighting?

Please respond!!! I LOVE your site! THANKS!!!

  37. I think Lips Dripping Honey would look good over anything really...it's versatile! Love My Pups is on it's own

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks!!

Love My Pups looks simply stunning on you, and i like how you make it sound sherbert-like - a "palette cleanser" ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wondered about this too - would love to see a comparison :)
