Hi guys! Anyone have any fun plans for this first weekend of 2014? I'm taking Degen to get a pawdicure...how exciting...not. I'm in major money saving mode so I'm decided to just not leave the house other than things I have to do. For me leaving the house means spending money on crap I don't need so I'm going to try not to do that haha!
Today I have the Winter 2014 Collection from Scofflaw to share with you. This is my first time trying the brand, I've heard so many good things about their polishes from other bloggers that I was excited to give them a try for myself! The Winter 2014 Collection is full of 8 glitters and shimmers and a really pretty duo! Aside from the polishes being gorgeous I'm kind of in love with the label on the bottles for this collection...I've put pictures at the end of the post so you can see why I like them so much! Check out all the swatches after the jump!
Chromosaurus Hex is a dusty lavender creme base with green shimmer and gold, dark green and light green glitter. I wish the shimmer had translated better in photos of this one, it's what really made my love this one! The formula was good, it was a little bit sheer but easy to build up to full opacity. I used 3 coats for the photos below
Dingoes Ate My Baby is a dark teal crelly with blue & green shimmer along with small blue, green and iridescent glitter. This one has a ton of depth to it thanks to the glitter and shimmer, I really like it! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Drop Dead Fred is a creamy lime green base with butterscotch shimmer with blue a butterscotch glitter. This is another where the shimmer really did me in, it's gorgeous! I also love the inspiration, I'm pretty sure I watched Drop Dead Fred like 100 times in my childhood haha! The formula was good, it was a little sheer on the first coat but completely opaque with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Happy Little Tree is gunmetal, grey, pale yellow and pale green glitter in a clear base. This glitter is part of the duo in this collection. It's meant to be layered over Love Letters To Bob Ross which you can see later in the post! When I wore this outside of swatching I put it over Rough Tuff Creampuff and loved it! The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over Love Letter To Bob Ross for the photos below.
I am the Narwhal is a silvery blue creme base with a silver shimmer and silver and turquoise glitter. I really love this combo, it feels very wintery to me which is perfect since it's a Winter collection haha! The formula was good, it was a touch thick but very easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Jackalope is a brown base with turquoise shimmer and blue and white glitter. This is a favorite for me, blue and brown are one of my favorite color combos...they work so nicely together! The formula was good, it was a good consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Love Letter To Bob Ross is a dusty blue/green/slate creme with blue/green shimmer and grey flakes of shimmer. This is the other half of the duo in this collection. I love this one, the shimmer and the flakes are beautiful. It's a really interesting finish! The formula was good, it was a little sheer on the first but but completely opaque with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Ruff Tuff Creampuff is a creamy off white base with a soft peachy shimmer. This is a really nice alternative to white. The formula was good, it was a little streaky but not too bad. The opacity was good, it was opaque at 2 coats but I used 3 to completely even it out.
Wraith Pinned To The Mist is an aqua base with a soft shimmer and bits of blue, violet, green and gold shimmer along with soft gold flakes of shimmer. This is another interesting finish, I love all the shimmers going on it here it gives the polish really nice depth! The formula was good, it was a little sheer on the first coat but completely opaque with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Your Cat Ain't Cute is a coral base with gold, neon coral, and metallic brown glitter. The label on this polish seriously made me laugh so hard...you have to look at it at the end of the post, I'm sure it'll put a smile on your face! The formula was good, it was a good consistency and the opacity was nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Below are photos of all the labels, I love this extra touch! Your Cat Ain't Cute is my favorite :D
Overall I really like this collection, I can see why everyone was saying how great Scofflaw is! If you've never tried anything from the brand it's one I'd suggest giving a look! My picks are Wraith Pinned To The Mist, Jackalope, I Am The Narwhal and The Love Letter To Bob Ross/Happy Little Tree duo.
The Winter 2014 Collection from Scofflaw will be available starting January 5th at ScofflawVarnish.com, each polish retails for $9 and the duo is $17
