OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection Swatches

Hi guys!  Guess what's going on today? We're getting the new flooring in our kitchen and living room, woohoo!  So excited for this, we're getting laminate wood flooring, it's going to be such a nice change from the hideous linoleum that was previously in the kitchen and the fuggo carpet in the living room. Pretty sure Degen is going to be the biggest fan of it, it's going to be like a whole new world for him when he's running around after toys haha!

Today I have the Muppets Most Wanted Collection from OPI to share with you. This collection serves as OPI's Soft Shades Collection for 2014 and it's coming out in conjunction with the Muppets Most Wanted movie that comes out this Friday! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Chillin' Like A Villain is a light beige-y nude. This has a little bit of peach in it, it's nice and flattering with my skin tone! The formula was good, it was a little sheer but it built easily and I had no issues with it being streaky. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Gaining Mole-mentum is shredded light pink and gold glitter in a clear base. I love how fun this glitter is, I love seeing different types of glitters like this from the big brands. The formula was good, I didn't have any issues with the shards poking up but that can happen with this type of glitter. I used 2 coats over Int'l Crime Caper for the photos below.

I Love Applause is a light white based crelly/creme. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and I had no issues with it being streaky. It was a bit sheer but it built up easily, I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Int'l Crime Caper is a sheet white with a pink shimmer. This one I like on it's own even though it's sheer, but I also think it would look great layered over a dark shade! The formula was good, it was sheer and I could see a lot of visible nail line even after 3 coats but it didn't really bother me. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Kermit Me To Speak green/purple duochrome. In the sun it has a dusty purple look to it and in the shade it shifts between purple and a golden green. The formula was good, it was sheer but it builds easily and is opaque in 3 coats.

Let's Do Anything We Want! is small pink glitter and white square glitter in a clear base. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over I Love Applause.

Miss Piggy's Big Number is a bright shimmery blue. At extreme angles in low lighting it does have a bit of a purple shift but it's barely noticeable. The formula was good, it was a bit sheer on the first coat but completely opaque with the 2nd coat.

Lighting: Shade

Muppets World Tour is small white and silver glitter along with a sprinkle of larger multicolored glitter. This is my favorite of the collection, I don't think I have another glitter quite like this one in my stash. The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over Chillin' Like A Villain.

Overall I don't think this the most exciting collection but I don't dislike it. My only pick would be Muppets World Tour and maybe Gaining Mole-memtum if you like shredded glitters.

Muppets Most Wanted will be available March 2014, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail.

  1. It's not really what I'd expect for a Muppet-related collection. Kinda blah.

  2. This is sort of disappointing for a Muppets collection. When I think Muppets, I think bright, vibrant shades, like their last Muppet collection. I guess they wanted to go a different route but for me, these are under-whelming.

  3. Love them! Would you mind doing a comparison between Kermit Me to Speak and Zoya Ki?

  4. I absolutely adore this collection!

I only bought the glitters from this collection. I personally have no interest in any of the colors from it. i feel like they all look like colors from other collections. I also found that gaining Mole-mentum DID poke a lot and had shards that peeled so I had to do touch ups to get my nails just right but I do still love the polish so much. Also, fun fact, the white specks in Muppets World Tour glow in a black light and looks really cool :)!!!!

  6. Collections like these are such a disappointment to me. The colors and glitters are perfectly nice, but when you have such a bright subject matter (The Muppets! Or last year's Wizard of Oz collection), don't waste it on nudes! I know OPI did a bright collection for the last Muppet movie, but I'm confident they could have used a similarly bright palate and still have come up with a unique collection.

(The swatches look great, though, as always!)

  7. I actually like this collection, even if it's not as colorful as the first one. The colors are still pretty. I only have Muppets World Tour, which I wanted right away after seeing swatches, and Gaining Mole-mentum, which I didn't feel I absolutely needed but I'm a huge fan of rosy gold glitters so I got it anyway. Now I really want Let's Do Anything We Want! It's such a pretty glitter topper. I love the squares.

Green Purple duochrome? Want. Honestly that;s the only one that really stood out to me, but then again I'm more a brights person anyway :)

Did you try applying it with lots of space around the cuticle? So when you apply the polish, it creates a seal? I have been developing a similar product and I notice that improves wear time. Also, if you notice lift, you can usually press back down on the polish and it will readhere. Hope those tips help you enjoy your product more :)

  10. I always apply base coat/polish that way. Didn't seem to make a difference for me :/

  11. These colors are pretty, but nothing special. The first Muppets collection was so amazing -- every color was so bright and bold and FUN. These are just so meh in comparison and really don't have any oomph to them.

  12. I love those glitters! I think I'm on a glitter kick recently. The duchrome is really interesting. My mom loves frogs and Kermit is one of her favorites. I think I could actually convince her to try it.

Of course, I'm keen on Let's Do Anything We Want and Muppets World Tour. But all of them are really wonderful.

  14. I think this is the kind of thing that I'd try to steer clear of, I struggle to keep my manicure on for more than a day, without this polish!

  15. I saw this at Ulta the other day. I think I'll save myself 8 bucks and just buy a bottle of Elmer's glue. I don't think there is much different between the two, other than the price.

  16. Thanks for the review! Sounds like I should skip this one.

Next time you do a comparison post, I'd love to see the creams in this collection compared to the ones from last year's Wizard of Oz soft shades collection--I'm curious how close Glints of Glinda and I Theodora You are to the pink and peach here.

  18. I've had my polish on for 6 days and I can't get it off! Rather than my polish pinging off at will I'm struggling to make a dent in it! Argh! Glitter Off isn't working at all.

  19. I thought the smell reminded me of craft clue!

  20. That what happens with the OPI nail polish I use. I think it's that brand. I don't get why they say it's the best brand when it falls off randomly. It should stay on for at least a week. I am able to keep it on longer if I put a base coat on from a different nail polish brand and reapply every few days.

  21. Argh, I wish I had read your review before I bought this. I just opened it for the first time and I thought the Amazon seller I got it from was scamming me. I thought--this looks and smells like thinned down Elmer's glue. But maybe that is just what it is! Anyway, the reason I bought this instead of doing the glue method is that I thought it would last better. Bummer.

  22. I actually did not like the Muppets collection when it came out. However, with these years nail fashion trends and OPI going completely different directions. I have find myself relying on INT'L Crime Caper, Chillian like A Villian and I Love Appaluse a lot. Great Job on the Swatches!
