OPI Sheer Tints Collection Swatches & Review

Happy Friday! Today I have the OPI Sheer Tints to share with you. I posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday of my crazy need to swatch pile and a bunch of people said they wanted to see these! The Sheer Tints are very sheer jellies, they can be used for pretty much anything. You can wear them on their own, use them for jelly sandwiches, layer them over other shades to create a new look etc.

Since I pretty much hate how my nails look with sheers like these on their own (forever jealous of you ladies who have nails that look good naked!) I decided to do skittles instead of each polish on its own. I kinda like this look, it ended up being a bit Easter-y! The formula of these was a little challenging, I found them to be a bit thick and gooey. If you plan to wear them on their own you will need to thin them a bit and wait a few minutes between coats. If you are using these for other things, like nail art or jelly sandwiches I don't think you'll have as many formula issues, though I would still recommend putting a tiny bit of thinner in.

I used 3 coats of each of the sheer tints over 2 coats of Butter London's Nail Foundation for the skittles below.

Index- I'm Never Amberrassed
Middle- Don't Violet Me Down
Ring- Be Magentale With Me
Pinky- I Can Teal You Like Me

I also decided to see how these would look as a jelly sandwich, they all work really well for them! I sandwiched my skittles with OPI's Chasing Rainbows.

Overall I like these, I think it will be fun to play around with them.  I'm looking forward to trying out some nail art with these, I've been dying over the gorgeous mani that Victoria from Serum No. 5 created with these, you can see her mani here!

Sheer Tints will be available March 2014, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer

As a little surprise I'm going to be giving away a set of the Sheer Tints. This giveaway is open internationally. Please use the rafflecopter widget below to enter.

  1. I have to admit, I wasn't keen on these because of the sheerness, but your swatches with the glitter is making me change my mind! :D

  5. Been dying to see your swatches of these and was hoping you'd do jelly sandwiches! You never disappoint! :) How many coats did you use on each side of the jelly sandwich?

  6. Gorgeous swatches!!! I'm most excited to try Never Amberrassed, since my dream polish is honey colored. I hear you on the naked nails. Have you tried LIppmann's Turn Back Time basecoat? It is pricey but I am finding it helps my naked nails look better and better with each use. it instantly brightens discoloration, so it is like a My nails But Better if you do a couple of coats with it.

  10. Ouuh, I am dreaming of something like these for a while for my nail art! I love the idea of more depth and shifting tints with it, playing with layering *_*

  12. Ooh these look interesting. It's interesting that the bottles say topcoat, although I don't think I could see me wearing these alone. Jelly sandwich for the win. Not sure on the yellow though.

  13. I am loving these sheer tints. While googling around, checking some of the manis where these were used, I came across a brand Wet Paint Nails. This company (currently) has 17 sheer tints (they used to be called glazes, but the company has changed to calling them tints - possibly because of the popularity or stir these OPI tints are creating). They show a lot of base colors that are dramatically changed by adding the sheer tints to them.

  15. thank you so much for doing a giveaway! I was intrigued by these ever since I heard about them, and the swatches really sealed the deal. I love how they can be built up fairly easily, but are sheer and versatile. I can see some really nice gradients being done with these!! Great swatches :D

  17. I'm completely on the fence with these, but your swatches are great, and I like how they look in the jelly sandwiches! May need to invest in one or two...

  18. I am so super intrigued by these! I like the idea of creating "jelly sandwiches" :) :) I especially like the pink one, though I could definitely see using the amber one for nail art! For a sheer tint, they came out with rather nice opacity. I could see using them over a base like a white or something?? Hmmm. Anyway, thanks for the great share!

  24. I'm really excited about these and those new Sally Hansen Triple Shine ones as well. I hope you swatch the SH collection if/when you get those too! Also, it would make me super happy to win these.

I'm not sure if I've ever actually commented before, but I love your blog, Jen! I've been lurking for about 4 years now and your gorgeous swatches are a big part of what helped start my nail polish obsession. I also alway tell people to check out your blog when they have questions about polishes to get, new collections, etc.

Anyway, you rock and I'm always checking for new stuff, even if I don't say so :D
