China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Guess what today is? It's Degen's birthday!! Degen turns TEN today, most people don't believe me when I tell them how old he is, he still acts like a puppy most of the time...you'd only be able to guess his age by the bits of grey he's been getting in his face. Degen will probably be having a grand old time today, he's been going to doggy day care the last 3 weeks and they are going to have a little doggy party for him (I'm kinda jealous lol). After I pick him up we'll probably go to PetsMart so he can pick out a toy then I bought him a piece of doggy cake from a dog bakery! I seriously celebrate my dogs birthday more than my actual birthday...that's totally normal...right?

Today I have the Sea Goddess Collection from China Glaze to share with you. This collection features 6 new textured polishes, some are normal glittery textures and some are a bit of a creme/glitter hybrid. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Sand Dolla Make You Holla is multicolored glitter in an off-white creamy textured base. The base leans towards being a light pink. The formula was ok, it was a touch thick but I had no issues with applying it. I also found it to be on the sheer side, I'd probably layer this over a light pink or white for next time. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Seahorsin' Around is a gorgeous teal blue with a greenish shimmer. I love how saturated this blue is, it's so pretty on the nail! The formula was good, it wasn't thick and the opacity was really nice. I didn't experience any staining with this but I did use 2 coats of base coat just in case.

Lighting: Shade

Shell We Dance is a dark pink base with pink glitter. The formula was good, it was a little thick but easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Tail Me Something is an icy lavender glitter. The formula was good, it was a little thick but easy to work with and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Teal The Tide Turns is green glitter in a creamy green base. Going off the bottle I thought I'd really like this one but I just don't love how it ended up looking on the nail for some reason. The formula was good, it wasn't thick but it was a little sheer. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Wish On A Starfish is a pink with golden shimmer. This is my favorite of the collection, the pink and gold is so pretty together! The formula was good, it was a little sheer but easy to build. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Overall I love the more traditional textures in this collection, I'm not crazy about the ones with the creamy base. I just think they don't translate well on the nail. My picks are Wish On A Starfish and Seahorsin' Around. The Sea Goddess Collection should be available now wherever China Glaze is sold.

Just for making it through the whole post I bring you a couple photos of Degen when he was a puppy. These were right after I got him, he was 8 weeks old! I die over his gigantic ears :D

  2. wow, my dog turned 10 yesterday. Too funny. We usually give her doggy ice cream for her birthday & a toy. She doesn't really play with toys anymore so I got her a box of treats instead. Anywho...love the colors of the China Glaze but not crazy about the textures. I guess I just have to get used to them. Have a great day with Degen. He's adorable!

  6. Happy Birthday, Degen! His puppy pics are TOO CUTE!!! My dogs are just as spoiled as Degen and there is nothing wrong with that! He is your baby so of course you're gonna spoil him! Also, great pics of the CG polishes...

  7. Degen? In Swedish his name means "The Dough" (as in baking). I tend to forget the nail polish when I see pretty pet pics like this. He's so cute! Hope he had a wonderful birthday! ♥

Aw love seeing pics of Degen! We're in good company as my older basset hound turns 10 in June. He started getting grey in his fur (mostly face and ears) about 2 years ago, but like Degen is still full of spunk and ornery! :D As far as the swatches--they're gorgeous. I've been seeing these in Sally's lately but haven't picked any up as I feel I've got enough textures at this point. Considered getting Seahorsin' Around but now after your pics might go get Wish Upon A Starfish instead. Thanks again for all your hard work to keep up polish hoarders informed and give Degen a big birthday hug for me! :)

  12. Awwwww happy birthday Degen :)
I took my scotty to a doggy daycare in Manhattan called "spot" great place but with the online spy cam they have for us that allows us to check on them during the day. i noticed he would only sit in the corner. I saw them try to interact and get him comfortable but he just wasnt having it!

Other than that... Thanks for the review i picked up 3 today after i read your review!

  17. Happy Birthday Degen!!!

I just took Sand Dolla Make You Holla off my nails after 2 days (not atypical for me). I have to say I was disappointed in the chipping I got after 24 hours, where as I normally don't get chipping or tip wear for days on end with other similar textures. It's so pretty though, so I may do like you mentioned and add a creme underneath the next time! Looking to try out Wish on a Starfish next; it looks gorgeous on your nails!

  20. after seeing this post I remembered that I REALLY wanted to acquire Sand Dolla Make you Holla, and I was dismayed after learning that it is discontinued :(
But thankfully I have an awesome friend who had it and did not like it so I swapped her for my OPI Solitaire today and I can NOT wait to try it!!
