OPI Spotlight on Glitter Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I plan on doing nothing...just relaxing. This may be TMI but I've had a weird rash happening on my arm since Tuesday or Wednesday and it spread over to my other arm and now to my neck. The girls at work were saying it was probably a stress rash. So I guess that means I should get some R&R. I tend to think the rash is related to the carpet being torn out at my house, who knows that that's putting the air! Anyway, now that I told you about that, because I'm sure you were dying to know, lets talk polish!

Today I have the Spotlight on Glitter Collection from OPI to share with you. This collection is 6 "new" glitter packed polishes. These are coming out in conjunction with the new Glitter Off base coat. Check out all the swatches after the jump.

Blush Hour is various shades of pink and fuschia glitter in a pink tinted base. This can be worn alone or layered. I decided to wear it alone, it was crazy glittery that way but I liked it! This was very glitter dense and easy to get opaque, I had no issues with application. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Chasing Rainbows is multicolored glitter in a clear base. The glitter payoff is nice and the formula was easy to work with. I used 1 coat over Super Black Majestic

Lighting: Shade

Desperately Seeking Sequins is silver holographic hex and bar glitter in a clear base. The formula was great, it was easy to apply and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over Dance Legend Nox.

I Reached My Gold is silver holographic and large gold hex glitter. Unfortunately much like when this was released with the Oz collection the big gold glitter curls. It doesn't seem to be as bad, most of it is reflective curling...however there were some pieces that were definitely bent and not just reflective. I would like to say that I pulled out my bottle of When Monkeys Fly (the dupe for this) a few weeks ago and that curling glitter has flattened out, so maybe this one will eventually also. I used 1 coat over Zoya Cole.

Lighting: Shade

Rose of Light is small rose gold glitter and holographic pink square glitter in a clear base. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the glitter payoff was great. I used 1 coat over Nicole by OPI Oh That's Just Grape!

Lighting: Shade

You Pink Too Much is light pink glitter in various sizes in a clear base. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good glitter payoff. I used 1 coat over Nicole by OPI Something About Spring.

Lighting: Shade
Overall, all of the glitters are pretty however I'm pretty disappointed in the collection because 4 of 6 are old glitters with new names :(

Chasing Rainbows= Rainbow Connection
I Reached My Gold= When Monkeys Fly
Desperately Seeking Sequins= Which is Witch?
You Pink Too Much= Pink Yet Lavender (not exact but pretty much the same)

Spotlight on Glitter will be available March 2014 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

  2. It seems like everything that OPI has released for 2014 so far has been under-whelming. They need to step up their game because I expect to be "wowed" by them. That being said, I think the best one in this collection is Blush Hour. Like you said, we've seen the others before... Great pics and great post letting us know about the four dupes in this collection. :D. Hope your rash clears up too! ;)

  3. I'm so thrilled with "I Pink Too Much." I know it looks familiar, but to me, it fills a need in my collection. Finally I can get a baby pink analog to "Pirouette My Whistle." I feel like I've been waiting forever for an office-appropriate pink glitter to wear with my favorite shades.

Thanks for confirming that most of these are dupes! I thought so when looking at other bloggers' swatches (who happened to not have the Wizard of Oz collection for comparison). Disappointing.

I bought three of these because I really like this set but I already have SOOOOOO many glitters and when it comes to silver/white glitters I really need to stop LOL. So I only bought Chasing Rainbows, Rose of Light, and Blush Hour.

I personally don't mind that some of them are copycat glitters though because I have missed out on some of the older ones so I'm glad to have the chance to get them again, like Chasing Rainbows, I didn't have access to OPI a couple years ago like I do now so I only got one polish from that Muppets Collection so I didnt get the Rainbow Connection from that collection :) So I think it's nice that if some people didn't get a chance to get some glitters from older sets, they kind of get another shot at them.

  7. Rose of Light and Desperately Seeking Sequins are my two favorites, but really, all of these glitters are pretty. I do wish this collection was more unique and not just re-releases of previous colors but it's good for those that missed out on the first ones.

  8. It's a shame so many are dupes - I'm not as impressed with OPI's recent offerings as I was with collections a few years back!

  9. I will get Chasing Rainbows because I missed Rainbow Connection! The rest are pretty but I think I rather splurge my money on some KBShimmer polishes!
