Zoya Monet Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend, mine was good and bad. The good was the NailGlossip chat on twitter last night, we did a Q&A chat and it was probably the most fun I've had since we started. The bad is/was that I somehow broke a crown on one of my molars. I was eating dinner Saturday night and felt it shift, then on Sunday it came out :( Unfortunately that means I get to go to the dentist today...I am not happy about it. I hate teeth...I wish I could just not have them but still be able to eat and not look weird without having to have dentures or something like that.

Anyway, I have Zoya Monet to share with you today. This came out along with their Awaken Collection for Spring, I'll be showing that soon. Monet is an iridescent hex glitter topper in a sheer pink base. The pink base is very sheer, I don't think you could ever work it up to being opaque. This looks good over pretty much any color, I decided to layer it over black (Dance Legend Nox) for this post because it stands out so well over a dark base.

The formula of Monet left something to be desired. It was very thick and gooey, the glitter coverage was ok but because of the gooey base it was a little hard to get it to stay on the nail. I ended up thinning it a little and it helped...sort of. I think you'd need a lot of thinner to de-gooey this and there just wasn't enough room in the bottle to make that happen :) This is pretty but it gets a pass from me because of the difficult formula :( I used 1-2 coats of Money over Dance Legend Nox for the photos below, some nails were 1 coat others were 2 coats.

Monet is available now at Zoya.com, it retails for $10.

  2. Heard pretty much the same thing about this one from every blog post I've read, so I'll be passing on this one. I like the word de-gooey btw xD

  3. I totally agree with your comments on the formula. I literally just tried this last night and knew there was no way it would dry in a timely fashion... it was like jelly! I tried it on top of Zoya Dillon... but I like your black base better.

  4. That's so disappointing. Your swatches look great but it sounds like to formula has taken this off of my list. Thanks for the review!

  9. I was wondering if thinner would help the atrocious formula - glad to know it helps some. Good luck at the dentist!

  10. That's too bad about the formula! I was really looking forward to this one, but if you had problems with the formula I would definitely have some. It's very pretty though!

  18. When my shimmers arrive, I'm going to try them with 2 polishes - Snow Globe by China Glaze, and Inner Goddess by Different Dimension. Although not as multi-colored as Monet, I think the effect will be nice, and ought to reflect the base color enough to be really pretty. I really don't want to deal with a gooey formula!
