China Glaze Summer 2014 Off Shore Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Happy Memorial Day to those of you in the states! I'm happy to have today off, 3 day weekends are seriously always the best! Today I have the Summer 2014 Collection from China Glaze called Off Shore to share with you! This collection is full of brights and neons. To be honest I wasn't sure if I should be excited about these or not. The colors looked fun in the promos but I was nervous the formulas would be bad. I was pretty happily surprised when that wasn't the case! To check out all the swatches click the read more button below.

Be More Pacific is a light yellowish green creme. This is nice and bright in person, not what I would call a neon but very bright. The formula was good, a little sheer but easy to apply. I had very minor streakiness on the first coat but it was easy to cover. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Dune Our Thing is a bright berry/fuchsia creme. The formula was ok, it was a little bit more thin than I personally prefer but I had no issues with application and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Feel The Breeze is a light pink neon. This was very bright, definitely what I would consider a neon. My camera had some issues with it so it's one I'd recommend seeing in person or googling a lot of swatches if you're trying to decide about it. The formula was good, I have minor streakiness on the first coat but it was evened out and opaque with the 2nd coat. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Float On is a bright neon pink. This is another that is nice and bright, a good neon. The formula was good, again a little streaky but it evened out easily and was opaque in 2 coats. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

I Sea The Point is a bright blue creme. It's nice and bright but not a neon...it reminds me of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue because of the dustiness it has to it. The formula was a little thin and patch but was opaque in 2 coats. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

If In Doubt, Surf It Out is a yellow toned orange creme. This reminds me a bit of Where Did Suzi's Man-Go from OPI's Spring Collection...maybe a little bit of a brighter version. The formula was good, it was a touch patchy on the first coat but opaque with the second. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Sea's The Day is a red creme. This one feels a bit out of place to me in the collection since it's not necessarily bright....just a regular red creme.  The formula was good, it had great opacity and was easy to apply. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Shore Enuff is a neon green creme. This was nice and bright, I'm loving all the greens like this we've been getting for Summer this year! The formula was ok, it was on the sheer and patchy side. I used 3 coats plus top coat to even everything out.

Stoked To Be Soaked is a bright orange with a subtle gold shimmer. The shimmer is pretty much invisible unless the light hits it right but it's pretty nonetheless. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was really nice. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Sun Upon My Skin is a light/bright yellow creme. It's definitely not a neon but it's a nice bright for Summer, and more wearable than a neon would be. The formula was good, for a yellow. It was a bit streaky on the first coat but I had no issues getting it to even out and it was opaque in 3 coats. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Wait N' Sea is an aque blue creme. I had no staining with this but I did use 2 coats of base coat just to be on the safe side. The formula was ok, thinner than I like but easy to apply. It was a little sheer on the first coat but opaque with the second. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

X-Ta-Sea is a purple creme. This is almost a little bit crelly like in the way it applies but it doesn't look too squishy in person. The formula was the most difficult for me in the collection, it was thin and patchy. I had some issues getting it to completely even out on some nails. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Overall I am happily surprised by this collection, I don't think it's groundbreaking in terms of colors but the formulas were better than I expected. My picks are Shore Enuff and Be More Pacific. The pink neons and the light orange are also nice if you don't already have something similar.

The Off Shore Collection from China Glaze will be available in stores in June 2014, price varies depending on where you buy from!

I love Be More Pacific! It's so good to know it has a nice formula in addition to a nice color.

  3. China Glaze has been killing me lately with their new collections! I feel the urge to buy them all but China Glaze never stays on my nails for more than a few hours. Great swatches!

  4. So weird, my Stoked To Be Soaked has NO shimmer at all, it's a flat creme!

  5. Can you do comparisons of Shore Enuff with the other neon greens that have come out? Like last year's CG neons and the green from this season's OPI?

  7. Any dupes with their previous summer collections? Some of them look super similar color wise

  8. weird! Was yours a PR Sample too? I remember last year they had an issue with one of the PR Sample colors being totally different than what stores got

  9. I am drawn to Shore Enuff, Stoked to be Soaked, Sun Upon My Skin and (of course) Wait n' Sea, although all the colors are nice. Having recently over-flowed both my Helmer and my Melmer, I am trying REALLY hard to be selective in purchases and you are NOT making that easy!

How do you think I Sea the Point would compare to OPI's Dating a Royal?

I'm forever looking for a replacement.

  15. I can't say for sure about the color but the finish is very different. Dating A Royal is a jelly
