KBShimmer Early Summer 2014 Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the new KBShimmer Early Summer Collection to share with you. Christy is spoiling us this summer by giving us not 1 but 2 collections! I don't know about you guys but that really excites me. I always love seeing the beautiful polishes Christy has come up with and I really look forward to the names too...I always get a good laugh out of at least 1 name in every collection! The Early Summer Collection is made up of 6 incredible holos, 3 new cremes and 3 textured glitters! If you are more of a fan of KBShimmer glitters, jellies and crellies then you'll want to keep your eyes open for the next Summer Collection from KBShimmer as that's where those will be! These will be available on the KBShimmer website and at Harlow & Co this Friday, 5/23!

Big Tan On Campus is a bronze-y tan holo. The holo is nice and strong, much stronger in person than in photos! The formula was good, it was a touch sheer but it built easily and was opaque in 3 coats.

Goldie Rocks is a gold holo. Normally I am not a gold girl but I find this one easy to wear and flattering on my skin tone! The holo again was much stronger in person! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

In Bare Form is a pale beige holo. I'm a big fan of nude holos like this, they are perfect for those of you who have to wear neutral polishes to work. The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 3 coats for full opacity, if you have shorter nails with little or no free edge 2 coats would probably work for you!

Let's Not Coral is a pink leaning coral creme. This is gorgeous, it's so flattering on and I love that it leans pink. I find that most of my corals lean either orange or red. The formula was great, I loved the consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Low And Be Bold is a cobalt blue creme. Yup, totally a Jen color...clearly this was love at first sight.  This can lean a bit purple depending on your skin tone but luckily for me it didn't lean that way with my skin tone. I've actually been waiting for this for aggeessssss! Christy put a swatch stick of this color with my Spring Collection samples and I've been dying for it ever since. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photo below. For some reason I only took 1 photo of this :(

Partners in Lime is a lime green texture. This was SO much brighter than I was expecting from how it looked in the bottle. It was one that I applied and was like oh baby! There is a ton of gold holo glitter, lime green and aqua glitter also in the mix. The formula was good, it was a little thick due to the glitter density but it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats, no top coat, for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Pt Young Thing is a silver holo. This is super holo, even more than it looks in photos. If you like a great holo I highly recommend this one. The formula was good, it was a good consistency with nice opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Right As Reign is a dark indigo creme. Depending on your skin tone this can lean either purple or blue...on me it leans purple. As per usual with purple this was impossible to photograph, it is more purple in real life! The formula was great, easy to work with and with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Run! It's The Coppers! is a copper holo. I love all the copper things...copper and green and copper and blue are 2 of my favorite color combos so I see this being used in conjunction with both of those colors down the road. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and the opacity was great. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

She Twerks Out is an aqua blue texture. This has an abundance of teal, aqua, lime green and violet glitter in the mix also. I didn't have any staining with this but it's the kind of blue that can stain so I'd recommend using 2 coats of base coat with this polish. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats, no top coat, for the photos below.

btw how awesome is the name of this polish haha!

Lighting: Shade
Stark Raven Mad is a black holo. This one is much more holo in person than in my photos. The formula was good, it was a touch patchy on the first coat but perfect with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Too Pop To Handle is a bright fuchsia/purple texture. This is loaded with holographic magenta, violet, aqua and pink glitter. The formula was good, it was a little thick but easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats, no top coat, for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

The KBShimmer Early Summer Collection will be available on 5/23, for US buyers at KBShimmer.com, the holos and textures retail for $8.75 and the cremes are $7.50! For International buyers these will be available at Harlow & Co also!

I think your swatches of this collection are the best I've seen so far!
Do you think Right as Reign is close to Zoya Pinta? Is it of the same family?

  8. Help! I share your passion for Holos, I have been shredding my heart strings trying to get my hands onto some htf OPI DS holos only to score 1, I don't think I need to break down and get some current polishes. But their are tons lately! What are some of your favorite linear holos? Particularly your favorite black since you have swatched so many recently. I need MEGA holos to get this itch scratched already, help me please??

  9. I really love In Bare Form - the base color plus the delicacy of the holo is just perfect.

  11. My favorite black holo is made by Layla...it is INSANE! They have a lot of fantastic holos, if you want something a little cheaper I'd check out Color Club also!

  14. Thank you! I am saving a polish budget to get some lemmings this fall, so I'm looking for the best I can, I appreciate the help! I think I'll get the color club, but spend a bit more on a good black and a silver like Pt Young Thing or a topper, Holos are my favs! Thanks again!
