OPI Neons Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was good. It was nice to be home after a few days away, mostly because I missed Degen! Today I have the new Neon Collection from OPI to share with you. This collection is 6 new full sized neon shades from OPI, a first for them. Along with the 6 neon shades OPI has released a new white base coat meant for going under the neons to make them pop. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Put A Coat On! is a new white base coat. This serves as both your base coat and a nice crisp white base for neons. The formula was good, it was a little streaky but not bad for a white. I used 2 coats to get it even, you could use 1 but I find that when your white base is streaky under a neon it will show through. This dried really quickly which was also nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

I used Put A Coat On! under all of the polishes, I also used a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top as a top coat over each polish in this post.

Down To The Core-Al is a neon coral with a very slight coral shimmer. The shimmer is very hidden, moreso than it looks in my photos. You can see it in the bright sunlight but in all other lighting it was pretty much invisible. The formula was good, I had no issues with application and it was opaque over a white base in 2 coats.

Hotter Than You Pink is a bright neon pink with a subtle purple flash. The shimmer again is pretty hidden, it's more of a sheen than a shimmer and it's not visible in most lighting. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer on the first coat but opaque over the white base with 2 coats.

Juice Bar Hopping is a neon orange. This was brighter in person than my camera could seem to pick up. The formula was good, a tad thick but easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats over the white base for the photos below.

Life Gave Me Lemons is a neon yellow. There seems to be a little bit of green undertones going on with this one, I actually thought it was green under I applied it. The formula was good, the consistency was nice and I had no issues with it being streaky. I used 2 coats over the white base for the photos below.

Push & Pur-Pull is a squishy purple. I wouldn't really call this one neon, I didn't find it to be that bright considering it's a neon collection. The formula was the most difficult of the bunch, it was a bit uneven and patchy but with a careful hand and some patience it looked good over the white base in 2 coats.

You Are So Outta Lime! is a bright neon green. I really like this one, it a bit lighter than the typical neon green. The formula was good, it was a little bit streaky on the first coat but it evened out with the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Neons by OPI Collection will be in stores this month, each polish retails for $9 ($10.95 CAN)

  2. The more swatches I see, the more I really like the Lime color. And I may have to pick up the pink, this would be fantastic on tanned toes.

  4. I love some of them. I wonder how they'd look without the white base coat?

  5. How does Life Gave Me Lemons compare to Orly Glowstick? Glowstick was a little too bright for me.

  6. I'm wondering how So Outta Lime! compares to American Apparel Parakeet or Kleancolor Green Bikini. Same for Hotter Than You vs. Sinful Colors Bikini

  7. Hotter Than You Pink and Juice Bar Hopping look to be my faves from this collection. I know I have quite a few in my stash the look like them, but I'd love to see if they have minis of these.

  9. Do the first two swatches remind anyone else of a couple of China Glaze neons (with a bit more shimmer, maybe?) from 2012? Maybe Surfin for Boys or Flirty Tankini for the coral and Love's a Beach or Hang Ten Toes for the pink? Or am I seeing things?

  10. Beautiful swatches! I bought all of these except for the white base. I figured I could just use Alpine Snow or My Boyfriend Scales Walls instead. I have yet to try them but I am excited to since I found some pretty neon studs on EBay.

  11. I like it only because it's nice to skip a step. My Boyfriend Scales Walls will always be my favorite white from them though!

  16. I love a couple of these, which comes unexpectedly, because I thought they'd look boring, but they sure don't! I wonder though what they'll look like without a base. Or over grey... or other base colors... I guess I have to wait until I can get my hands on those :D
