OPI Mustang Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have a new OPI Collection to share with you! I was doing some retail therapy the other day at Ulta and saw a display for these so I ended up going over to a local beauty supply and getting the collection! This new collection is a collaboration with Ford for the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang. There are 6 shades in total, and each bottle has shrink wrap around the brush handle that features the Mustang logo. I'm guessing this is serving as OPI's Summer Collection but I'm not 100% sure about that. As always if there are any comparisons you'd like to see for these let me know in the comments! Click the read more button for all the swatches!

50 Years of Style is a golden chrome. This is kinda like the golden version of Push and Shove from the Gwen Stefani Collection. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. It does dry with brush strokes but they are more noticeable in photos than in real life. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Angel With A Lead Foot is a white creme. I was excited about this, sure white isn't very exciting but its a color I use a lot so I'm always looking for good ones. This one is nice, not my favorite but good for a crisp white. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. This was streaky going on but it was pretty minor for such a stark white. I used 3 coats to completely even everything out.

Girls Love Ponies is a pink creme. This one reminds me of the pink from the Gwen Stefani Collection (haven't compared them...yet!). The formula was good, easy to apply and nice and opaque. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Queen Of The Road is a black with a frosty like silver shimmer. This polish reminds me of an old OPI but I cannot for the life of me think of the name...if anyone knows it please let me know in the comments! The formula was ok, it was a little tricky...it was sheer and patchy on the first coat but perfect with a slightly thick second coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Race Red is a red orange creme. This pretty much only leans to orange on me but perhaps if you have a darker skin tone than I do it will lean more red. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Sky's My Limit is a metallic blue with blue and green shimmer. This reminds me a lot of OPI's Catch Me In Your Net from a few years back, unfortunately I got rid of that polish (and all its dupes) because they were such bad stainers...so I can't tell you if they are actually dupes or just very similar. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and the opacity was good. I did use 2 coats of base coat with this just to be careful and I did not have any staining. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

OPI's Mustang Collection is available now, I've already seen it on shelves at Ulta! OPI retails for $9!

Queen of the Road reminds me of Black Satin, I have no idea what collection it's from but that's the first thing I thought of!

  2. Good morning! :-) The Sky's My Limit and Angel With A Lead Foot are my favorites out of the bunch. I have yet to discover my favorite white, but this one looks promising (even with the wee bit of sheerness).

  3. I'm in love with The Sky's My Limit! Queen of the Road is also pretty unique looking for a black. The others just look so boring, you know, same old, same old. I guess when you've made hundreds of polishes like OPI has, it gets harder to make something unique, but man they could really try a bit harder!

I've been driving Mustangs for the past few years and love them. So obviously I had to buy the whole collection, lol... Maybe Queen of the Road reminds you of Black Satin by OPI? It seems the most similar in color to me. The coolest part of the collection I think is that Race Red is an exact color match to Ford's Race Red, a color option for the newer model Mustangs.

  6. A bit of a stretch, but for the possible Queen of the Road Dupe, are you thinking of Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous? Colour's similar, although Lucerne has more shimmer and Queen looks more brush-strokey. I might be grasping at straws here, hahah

  7. I wasn't super thrilled with this collection as a whole but loved the sky's my limit. One of my customers has a vintage mustang and the color is a dead on match! And no it didn't stain my nails, I thought it would too. I only had one base coat on.

  8. Were you thinking of OPI My Private Jet as a dupe of Queen of the Road?

  11. So excited for this collection! Being a tie in with the Ford Mustang means I'm grabbing all of them, even though the pink is a bummer...
Fantastic swatches as usual, thank you for them!

  20. Every time I look at this collection, I wonder why they didn't include a yellow. Just doesn't make sense to me. I would love to see how Angel With a Lead Foot compares to Alpine Snow and My Boyfriend Scales Walls (although I think MBSW is a touch more gray). Beautiful swatches, though!

  21. Ooh I hope they'll have this in a minis collection, I'd love to get that for my friend for her birthday. She has a 'stang and loves it. :)

  22. Pretty collection! I doubt I'll be picking up any shades from it though.

I really wanna see the white one and alpine snow compared. Your shots are always the best and most accurate

  25. I don't own Alpine Snow anymore (used my bottle up and never repurchased) but they are pretty much dupes...I prefer the formula of Angel With A Lead Food though!

  26. I'll have a comp of it with MBSW up soon, it's more of a crisp white than that one!

I saw this collection at ULTA but am glad to see it swathced here! Sky's the Limit was sold out, but based on the swatch I saw on their nail wheel, it seems to be a shade lighter than Zoya Charla and its dupes.

  28. Great swatches, as always! If you're looking for an amazing white, try Finger Paints Paper Mache - two coats for absolutely flawless coverage, and one coat is enough if you're using it as undies.

  29. Do you have a favorite white creme? I've tried so many but still haven't found one I'm really in love with yet. Thanks!
