Cirque Back To Basics Set Swatches & Review + Giveaway

Hi guys! Today I have the Back To Basics set from Cirque to share with you! This 4 piece set comes with a base coat and top coat along with a white creme and a black creme. I was pretty excited when I heard about this, I don't know about you guys but those 4 things are what I go through most...especially base and top coat! All 4 items in the set are also available individually so if you don't want or need all 4 you can grab them that way instead!

Check out all the swatches after the jump! I also have a giveaway for a set at the end of the post woohoo!

Holdfast is the base coat of the set, it has a nice blue green tint. It is infused with garlic and meant to strengthen your nails and anchor your polish. So far I have been enjoying this base coat, I haven't had a chance to try it for an extended amount of time yet but I have been wearing it as my base coat for the mani I've had going on 4 days and haven't had any chipping and only very  minor tip wear.

Liquid Laminate is a quick dry top coat. I've really been loving indie brand top coat lately and was excited to try this one! The formula is nice, it's not thick and it does a great job of leveling out polishes. Dry time is great, I used this the other day for some nail art and it was dry enough to use nail vinyls over in about 30 minutes...for me that is good, usually I have to wait a lot longer than that. the shine is also great, I've been wearing it with the mani I mentioned above, going on 4 days, and its still nice and shiny!

Carpe Diem is a bright white creme. White is the color I go through the fastest so I'm always looking for good ones that will be easy to work with to layer glitters over. The formula of Carpe Diem was pretty awesome, it was a good consistency and application was a breeze. The opacity was great, there was some very minor streakyness on the first coat but it was completely covered and opaque with 2 coats.

Memento Mori is a black creme. The formula of this one was also great, it was a good consistency and applied easily. The opacity was fantastic, a 1 coater for me! Please excuse all the reflections in the photos below, this was so shiny after a coat of Liquid Laminate that all of the clouds and even the roof of my house managed to reflect onto my nails lol

The Back To Basics Set from Cirque is available now! The set as a whole retails for $36, you can also buy each item individually. The polishes retail for $13 each and the base and top coat are $10 each! You can buy Cirque from their website at, they also have several stockist both online and in stores, for a full listing check out the Stockist page on the Cirque website:
