China Glaze Fall 2014 All Aboard Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Fall 2014 Collection from China Glaze to share with you! This collection is called All Aboard and all the names are train themed. I laughed a little bit when I saw the names of this collection because I used to loathe trains and had flashbacks of a ragey Christmas they caused me. When I was 6 or 7 and very bratty I got like 20 trains for Christmas. I vividly remember going out to the living room Christmas morning seeing a ton of presents and being like YAAASSSS PRAISE SANTA, but then every single one I opened was some kind of train and I was pissed about it. My parents still talk about that Christmas lol! Anyway, check out all the swatches after the jump!

All Aboard is a dusty medium purple. The formula was ok, a little thinner than I personally like but I didn't have any issues with application. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Choo-Choo Choose You is a blueish base with multi chrome shimmer. This one is so hard to photograph, I recommend googling it and looking at a ton of photos because everyone captures the shimmer a little differently. In the sun the shimmer is mostly gold with a hint of pink and in the shade and lower lighting it goes all kinds of colors, from green to blue and pink. I really love this one, it's nice to see interesting polishes like this from the big brands! The formula was good, it was sheer but built easily and was opaque in 3 coats.

Shade

Conduct Yourself is a deep burgundy with a subtle shimmer. The shimmer is very hidden, barely visible even in direct sunlight. The formula was on the watery side, you do  have to be a little careful with it so it doesn't flood your cuticles. I used 2 coats for the photos below. There were a couple sheer spots that I can see in the photos that weren't visible in person, 3 coats might be better for this one.

Don't Get Derailed is a dusty olive green. This is one I like, of course...you know me and my greens! This went on the nail a bit darker than it looked in the bottle. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Loco-Motive is tiny black/grey micro glitter and larger pinky copper hex glitter in a clear base. This one is really interesting, and a pain in the butt to capture :( The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the glitter payoff was good. This is too sheer to wear on its own (in my opinion) but it will look great over a variety of shades. I used 1 coat over All Aboard for the photos below.

Shade

Lug Your Designer Baggage is a chocolatey brown with small gold flakes of glitter. I like that the color kind of makes me think of Louis Vuitton and that totally goes with the name. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Mind The Gap is a goldfish green  with green shimmer. In the bottle this reminded me of one of my favorite China Glaze polishes ever, Out On Safari. Once I ended up grabbing Out On Safari out of my Helmer I realized they weren't very close after all but it could be a good alternative if you're looking for something similar-ish. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the consistency was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Nice Caboose is a magenta with a subtle pink shimmer. The shimmer is pretty hidden indoors and in the shade but visible out in the sun. The formula was good, easy to apply with really great opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

One Track Mind is a navy blue creme. The formula was great, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. The opacity was fantastic, nearly a 1 coater for me. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Stop That Train is a red base with a strong gold shimmer. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had nice opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Well Trained is a dark teal creme. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had nice opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

What Are You A-Freight Of is a dark plummy brown. I thought this would be a bit more purple toned on the nail but it ended up being darker than I expected. The formula was good, easy to apply and nice and opaque. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I like this collection, there is a nice mix of unique shades and more basic shades that are a nice part of any stash. My picks are Lug Your Designer Baggage, Choo Choo Choose You and Mind The Gap.

The All Aboard Collection is available now at stores like Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta, the price will vary depending on where you purchase from!

  1. I love this collection! Finally, a fall collection I can get onboard with (no pun intended). Your favorite three polishes are the same ones I purchased. I love Choo Choo Choose You. Very unique. I went to four different stores to find it, so I think it is the star of the collection.

  3. Choo-Choo Choose You looks so interesting! May have to check that one out. Nice Caboose reminds me of Essie's 'the lace is on', which I'm actually wearing right now.

  5. Very nice colours. I'd go for Stop that Train, Mind the Gap and Choo Choo Choose You.
Regarding your "love" for China Glaze Out on Safari, I wondered if you'd ever try Misa, Phazers on Stunning? I'd suspect you might like it, as it resembles Out on Safari (but with a subtle duochrome effect), I think. :) Just saying...
