China Glaze Halloween 2014 Apocalypse of Color Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was pretty darn good! Today I have the China Glaze Apocalypse of Color Collection for Halloween 2014 to share with you! I was excited for this collection because China Glaze usually does really great Halloween Collections! This collection is no exception to that, it's got a bit of a zombie theme to it and has nice traditional Halloween type polishes and a couple that are a bit unexpected. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

But Of Corpse is a green metallic base with a golden shimmer, black micro glitter and silver shimmer. The formula was strange, it was thick and a little gummy and it dried extremely fast which made going over a spot more than once tricky. You have to be really quick with application or it will drag off polish. It was pretty opaque but unless you are very very careful you won't be able to get away with 1 coat. This dried to a satin matte finish, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Don't Let The Dead Bite is a nude-pink jelly base with pink/red glitter. This was meant to look like blood splatter, I think it does a pretty good job of that. The formula was good, it was on the sheer side on the first coat but good with the second coat. I could still see some visible nail line with 2 coats but it wasn't bothersome, 3 coats would cover it right up if you don't like it.

Getting To Gnaw You is a black base with coppery orange micro glitter. The formula was a little thick but easy to work with and apply. The opacity was good, I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below. It does dry with a bit of texture so you could leave it that way if you like it!

Ghoulish Glow is a glow in the dark topper. This is one that China Glaze re-releases every Halloween. It's not really my favorite, I find that it doesn't glow very well once its on the nail even after exposing it to direct sunlight for 5 minutes. I used 2 coats over China Glaze What Are You A-Freight Of for the photos below, as you can see it adds a milky shimmer to whatever you put it over.

Dark
I Love Your Guts is a metallic pink with black micro glitter and silver shimmer. Formula and application was the same as But Of Corpse, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Rest In Pieces  is gold, gold holographic and black glitter in a clear base. The formula was ok, it was a bit base heavy so its best to get a lot of glitter onto the brush and dab it onto the nail. I used 2 dabbed coats over China Glaze Don't Get Derailed. All photos are in the shade.

The China Glaze Apocalypse of Color Collection is available now wherever China Glaze is sold, the price varies depending on where you buy from.

  2. I have But Of Corpse, Love Your Guts and Don't Let The Dead Bite on their way to me and I cannot wait to try them. I just love matte lightly textured polishes, but I hope they won't be too tricky to work with. I thought about getting Rest In Pieces simply because of the name. But since I do not like bar glitter I skipped it.

  9. My husband got me the 4-pack for my birthday and I love them! My favorite one is Rest in Pieces. I layered it over OPI's Lincoln Park after Dark and I've gotten a few compliments on my nails. Great swatches!!

  10. Do you think Goulish Glow would glow in the dark better if worn alone? That one intrigued me most.

  11. I like them all! I didn't expect to but they are really unique. i think Don't Let The Dead Bite looks so pretty even if it's support to be blood splatter.
