China Glaze Holiday 2014 Twinkle Collection Swatch & Review

Hi guys!Today I have the China Glaze Twinkle Collection for Holiday 2014 to share with you! This collection has a little bit of something for everyone between the cremes, shimmers, glitters and metallic shades. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Chillin' With My Snow-mies is small, medium and large matte white hex glitters in a clear base. I love the look of this but man...the formula was terrible. I put this upside down for about 20 minutes before swatching and literally got 1-2 pieces of glitter on the brush every time I tried to fish out glitter. It seems like this is 90% base 10% glitter, maybe if the China Glaze brush wasn't so skinny it would be a little better but who knows! If you are patient and don't mind the application its a nice glitter. I dabbed this over Tip Your Hat for the photos below.

Dancing & Prancing is a multicolored glitter topper. The colors in this are a bit more muted than a lot of the other multi colored glitters out there, so that was a nice change. The formula was good, it was easy to apply and the glitter payoff was good. I used 1 coat over Milani Imperial Purple for the photos below.

Shade

Shade

De-Light is a dense gold glitter with holographic gold bars. This would probably be a little better over another shade, the layering I chose kind of hid the gold-ness of the glitter in the sun :( The formula was good, it was easy to apply with fantastic glitter payoff. I used 1 coat over Out Like A  Light for the photos below.

Shade

December To Remember is a medium blue shimmer. In the sun I don't really care for this polish, but in the shade it's gorgeous! It has duochrome shimmer that shifts between a greenish gold and pink! I wish it looked as awesome in the sun as it does in the shade! The formula was good, it was a touch sheer but easy to build and opaque in 3 coats.

Define Good... is a rich cranberry shimmer. This is one of those shades that looks like it glows, I really enjoy nice vampy shades like that! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Feeling Twinkly is tiny blue glitter in a clear base. This is one of my favorites from the collection, its like the tiniest glitter and over a light base its perfect! The formula was good, it had good glitter payoff but its not one you could get opaque on its own. I used 1 coat over Milani Lady-Like Sheer for the photos below.

Shade

I'd Melt For You is a silver chrome. Personally I don't really care for this, I just don't like chromes, but if you do like polishes like this it's a nice one. It's very similar to OPI's Push & Shove so if you already have that you could skip this. The formula was good, it was very opaque which was nice. If you are careful you could get away with 1 coat pretty easily. I used 2 coats to fix up a couple bald spots. This does tend to show every imperfection in the nail so I'd recommend using a ridge filling base coat!

Shade

Meet Me Under The Stars is silver and black glitter in a sheer black base. This is another favorite for me, it really does look like the sky at night! I do with the base wasn't quite as opaque because it hides the black glitter but overall the look is gorgeous! The formula was good, it was sheer at first but easily buildable and opaque in 3 coats.

No Peeking! is an eggplant purple frost. Not my kinda shade but that's alright. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Out Like A Light is a dark grey creme. The formula was fantastic, it was creamy and easy to apply with perfect opacity. I used 1 coat for the photos below.

Pine-ing for Glitter is a green leaning teal glitter. This has small hex glitter and tiny pieces of glitter similar to Feeling Twinkly. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with great glitter payoff. I used 1 coat over Milani Spotlight White for the photos below.

Shade

Tip Your Hat is a red creme. Even though I'm pretty much tired of red for the holidays I'm happy to see this in here and I'm glad its the only one in the collection lol! The formula was good it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

  4. That red is beautiful, as sick of them as i am, but i already have enough reds.

Meet me Under the Stars looks like a must have for me though.
And with the blue glitter polish, was the finish really that glossy, or did you use a topcoat? I know you usually state when you use one so that's why I am asking :)

  7. I like Pine-ing for Glitter, but I think I'll be giving a pass on the rest. I do appreciate that there's only one red though.

  8. I used a top coat, I usually do with glitters!

  9. Great swatches! That dark grey looks really nice but I feel like I already have a Zoya in a similar shade. I might take a look at I'd Melt For You next time I stop in Sally Beauty only b/c I'm curious if it might be a good silver chrome to stamp with.

  11. Pining for Glitter and Meet Me Under The Stars are the only ones that interest me. However, I should probably add that ALL the holiday collections I've seen swatched so far have pretty much left me "cold". (Bad pun.)

  12. Your swatches are beautiful, as always! Meet Me Under the Stars is gorgeous! To me, this seems like one of the least cohesive collections China Glaze has put out :( Maybe it's just me, but a lot of the mainstream holiday collections are just blah :(

  15. Melt For You, Meet Me Under The Stars, Define Good, and No Peeking are my favorites. I like them better than the OPI holiday line for this year. I can't wait to get them! Do you know when they'll be available online?

  16. Beautiful swatches! I however don't see any polish in this collection that grabs my attention. They're pretty but nothing I absolutely need.

  17. Chillin' with my Snow-miles. I think the effort of getting those pretty glitters on my nails will worth it. Beautiful swatches!

  18. The only date I have is November, nothing more exact than that :(

  19. I love the cremes! Plus, I wanted to let you know that you are my go to blog when I want to see a swatch of a new polish before buying it! Always so consistant and you tell it how it is! Thanks!

  21. Swatches are gorgeous! I just won this collection and you were my first stop for swatches!

  22. I felt my heart sink a little when I saw that Chilling with my Snowmies was kind of lack luster because that was the big one that I wanted, but I surprisingly found some ones I want that I wasn't considering before!

  23. If Picture Polish is in your budget, and you can find it, they have a polish called Storm which is a much denser version of Chilling with my Snowmies, while still being a top coat. I bought both CG and PP, and I totally love PP more :D

  24. I've been doing a lot of nail stamping with I'd Melt For You since I got and I adore it. It's lovely on it's own but it's amazing stamped. I was wondering if you knew of a similar gold polish?
