OPI Fall 2014 Designer Series Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was mine, got 5 boxes all packed up and did a lot of window shopping for appliances and whatnot! Today I have the 2 new OPI Designer Series shades to share with you guys. These are both inspired by Quartz and are being called "Polished Quartz". Check out the swatches after the jump.

DS Titanium is gunmetal grey base with iridescent shimmer and glitter. The formula was good, it was on the sheer side at first but built pretty easily and was opaque in 3 coats. This is meant to dry to a semi matte finish, I prefer it shiny so I added top coat.

Shade

DS Tourmaline is a bright pink base with iridescent shimmer and glitter. The formula was also good but on the sheer side. It built easily and was opaque in 3 coats. This also dries to a semi matte finish but I like it better shiny so I added top coat.

Overall these are just ok, I don't think they are extra amazing and worth the extra cost that the DS polishes from OPI bring. The OPI DS polishes for Fall 2014 are available now for $12.50 each at stores like Ulta, Beauty Brands, Ulta.com and professional salons.

  1. I am excited about Titanium, but will not be purchasing at full retail price....

To me, Tourmaline looks awfully similar to Zoya Binx. How do you think they compare?

  3. I got the DS Tourmaline and thought it was a bit "meh". I was excited about it and then after 3 coats for the full coverage and it being lumpy and matte, I was a bit disappointed. I had to put a heavier coat of Seche Vite top coat to make it tolerable for my design. Glad to hear it wasn't just me feeling this way!

Just had to tell you how much I appreciate that you show a shade shot, also. It is very helpful! These polishes are very pretty but so many others from indie brands to be had so I'll be passing. Thank you!

  8. Pretty but not unique enough for the price IMHO. The titanium reminds me of an older China Glaze I have, the name of which escapes me right now of course! (and now its going to bug me all day, lol)

  9. Tourmaline is pretty, reminds me a lot of Bad Kitty by China Glaze.

  11. The pink one reminds me of something by Cult Nails, I forget the name, but I think it might have been more coral/orange than pink. I have the dupe by Icing called Tiger's Blood (one of the Charlie Sheen polishes). Do you still have either of those? Would love to see a comparison if you have the time... I know you are busy getting ready to move - CONGRATS, by the way, that is soooo exciting, very happy for you, and only a teensy bit jealous! ;)

  13. The colours look so pretty - although I am probably too lazy to build up the coats! Very helpful review :)
