KBShimmer Flakies Swatches & Review

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I'm planning on a few things, mostly building all the closet organization I got at Home Depot for my master bedroom closet, the rods for hanging clothes on were a freakin joke so I ripped it all out and now it's just a big empty space. I got a whole Martha Stewart closet thing so I think its going to look awesome once its done!I am also planning on starting the monumental task of moving all my nail polish over to my new place. I'm planning on hiring movers to get most of my stuff over to my new house but I don't trust them with my polish so I'll be making about eleventy billion trips back and forth to get all of the drawers from my Helmers and Alex's over.

Today I have an awesome LE collection from KBShimmer for ya! In case you didn't know KBShimmer recently released 6 limited edition flakies! These are only available on their etsy shop (linked at the end of the post)! I meant to post these oh about 17 days ago but man...I didn't not realize what a time suck buying and fixing a house would better late than never, right?

Check out the swatches after the jump!

What I like about these (and all flakies) is that they look so much different over different base colors. I'd recommend looking at swatches from several bloggers if you want to see each polish over a variety of base colors! All 6 of these gave nice coverage in 1 coat but because my camera wasn't picking them up very well I used 2 coats for my swatches. All photos are in the shade!

Aurora is green to gold flakies in a clear base. I used Aurora over Milani Silhouette

Dark Matter is indigo flakies in a clear base. Depending on the base color and angle of your hand they go back and forth between leaning purple and blue. I used Dark Matter over Dance Legend Nox.

Flame Queen is red/orange/gold flakies in a clear base. This is the most recognizable flakie IMO, its similar to Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Essie Shine of the Times. Over black the color shift is stunning! I used Flame Queen over Milani Water Front because I love the pink hue it gives off over colors like it!

Lightening Ridge is teal to bright blue flakies in a clear base. I used Lightening Ridge over Cirque Tavern On The Teal for the photos below.

Pinfire is blue/green flakies, depending on the base color this can also lean a little purple as you can see in my photos. I used Pinfire over Cirque The Devil Wears Cirque for the photos below.

Rainbow Shield is a rainbow of flakies in a clear base. If you are torn on these or can only get 1 this would be my pick. I used Rainbow Shield over Milani Enchanting for the photos below.

The KBShimmer Flakies are only available at KBShimmer's etsy shop located here:, each polish retails for $9.75

  1. I love flakies myself so these are gorgeous and something for me to check out.

  2. They look gorgeous, I particularly like the ones with a strong color shift!

  3. I love flakies..and I love KBShimmer.. but I feel like these are super similar to the fingerpaints flakies from last year : /

  4. I'm thinking I need Aurora, but will wait until Men Are From Marsala to purchase. ;-)

  5. Ohhhhh they're so pretty. I love that they ship to Australia. On the moving note, seriously its a pain but once its done its gonna be awesome. I'm totally jealous of all the closet organizer stuff, I've always wanted that. I expect lots and lots of pictures once it's done.

  6. Thank you so much for such a wonderful review of these great flakies. I don't know how you do it with all you are involved in now! I am so glad to have gotten the set of these flakies, with an extra of Rainbow Shield. I am even tempted to get backups! I love these types of flakie toppers!

  7. Rainbow Shield is my favorite but I just can't get behind the flakie craze. Anyway, I hope getting your polishes to your new place goes smoothly. No broken bottles now!

  8. This is what I look for my life!!!!!!!! ARG! Will buy all of them :D

  9. These are really beautiful. I love Rainbow Shield!

  10. Do you have any tips on getting nail polish to last longer? I used two coats of a base, dabbed on glitter and added a clear top coat last night. Today I have cracks and tons of chips, any tips would be awesome ⌒.⌒
