piCture pOlish Borealis Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was good for the most part, I was a bit sick for some of it but the good part was that Degen finally came home. He's much better, no more Mr. McItchy! Today I have piCture pOlish Borealis to share with you. This is a new Limited Edition shade that is releasing today. Borealis is a blue/purple/pink multi chrome, this is very glitter packed and it can be worn layered or on it's own. On it's own it is a bit sheer, you need 3-4 coats to get it opaque. I used 2 coats over Dance Legend Nox for the photos below.

Super Black Spring 2014 Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I'm just doing nail polish stuff and the kitchen is getting most of the finishing touches. Yesterday the counter tops were installed and today and tomorrow the rest of the flooring is being put in. After that all that's left is the appliances getting installed...hooray! I seriously cannot wait until everything is done...renovating sucks!

Also for those wondering Degen is doing much better. I talked to his vet yesterday and one of the techs he sees every day (because I'm that psycho dog mom that calls to check on their baby every day lol) and they both said he's starting to act like himself again and the itching is much better! His vet was telling me that everyone there could tell he wasn't feeling good because he's the type of dog that makes everyone happy, when she gets there she says hi to him and he's always so happy that it makes her smile. She could tell he felt like crap because he hadn't been doing that for the last week.  Anyway, I'm glad he's doing better, I went and visited him for a little bit after work last night and he'll come home on Sunday once all the work is done in the house! I'm so glad he'll be home, I've been trying to make Oreo my replacement wiener dog and I think he's getting tired of the forced snuggling LOL!

Alright, onto polish...today I have the new Super Black Spring 2014 Collection to share with you. For Spring Super Black has introduced 5 new shades. There is a nice variety in both finishes and the range of colors. There are some nice spring shades but also a couple that are a little dark and vampy which I love! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Framboise is a raspberry jelly full of various glitters. It has tiny black, matte pink, holographic lilac, and chunky matte white hex glitter in the mix. The formula was good, this is a little sheer at first but it's easy to build up. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Majestic is an orchid creme. This is a pretty good match for the Pantone color for this year- radiant orchid. The formula was really nice, it was a nice consistency and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Grackle is a black base with a strong turquoise blue shimmer. This isn't a typical spring shade and that's why I like it, it's dark and vampy and the shimmer is gorgeous! The shimmer is easily visible out in the sun and it gives the polish nice depth in lower lighting, like the shade. The formula was good, it does dry a little dull so you'll want to top coat it to bring out all the pretty shimmer! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Haymaker is a dark purple crelly base with various sizes of neon red-orange matte glitter. I'm always a big fan of polishes like this that have nice contrasting glitter! The formula was great, it was easy to work with and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Stag is a yellow toned green with a super strong bronzey gold shimmer. No surprise here, this is a favorite for me! Anything green with shimmer is bound to be something I love. The shimmer is easily visible both in bright light and in lower shade like lighting. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer but it builds easily and was opaque in 3 coats.

Super Black is available at http://superblacklacquers.com/polishes retail from $10-12

Dance Legend Top Sahara

Hi guys! Today I have an awesome Dance Legend polish called Top Sahara to share with you. Top Sahara is a textured top coat. It turns any polish into a sparkly textured polish! I've wondered for a long time why no one had done this yet, especially since textured polishes have been going strong for so long.

Top Sahara adds a silvery shimmer and a matte textured finish to any polish. I've worn it over both dark and light colors, and even nail art...and it looks great over everything. The formula was good, it's easy to apply and you only need 1 coat to get the textured finish. I did find that the base polish had to be completely dry or else it kind of ate the textured effect but other than that I had no issues. I used 1 coat of Top Sahara over a dark blue for the photos below. Unfortunately I didn't write down what the base polish was :(

Lighting: Shade
Dance Legend is available at http://www.dance-legend.com/en/, you can also find their polishes at several etailers like Llarowe. For a full list of Dance Legend etailers all over the world check out the Dance Legend website I linked above.

Watercolor Nail Art with OPI Sheer Tints

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend, mine was good! The flooring in the living room was finally finished so the whole renovation and whatnot is almost done! All that's left is the flooring in the kitchen, the countertops and having the appliances installed! Hopefully it'll be done soon!

Today I have a quick nail art post for you! I posted this NOTD on Instagram a couple days ago and I still love it so much that I decided to post it here too. When I reviewed the Sheer Tints I mentioned at the end that I wanted to try my hand at a watercolor mani that Victoria from Serum No. 5 posted on her blog (you can see hers here!). I have to say, I freaking LOVE this...LOVE. The Sheer Tints are worth it just for the ability to do this kind of nail art lol! If you want to learn how to do this there is a great tutorial on Phoenix Beauty Lounge, it's the tutorial I followed! P.S. I need to do the saran wrap nail art she did...omg!

After I posted this mani on Instagram and Facebook on Saturday, Becca commented and said I should add a holo top coat. I couldn't resist and man....does it look good that way! The pictures aren't doing it any justice! I used 2 coats of KBShimmer Prism Break over the watercolor nail art for the photos below.

OPI Spotlight on Glitter Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I plan on doing nothing...just relaxing. This may be TMI but I've had a weird rash happening on my arm since Tuesday or Wednesday and it spread over to my other arm and now to my neck. The girls at work were saying it was probably a stress rash. So I guess that means I should get some R&R. I tend to think the rash is related to the carpet being torn out at my house, who knows that that's putting the air! Anyway, now that I told you about that, because I'm sure you were dying to know, lets talk polish!

Today I have the Spotlight on Glitter Collection from OPI to share with you. This collection is 6 "new" glitter packed polishes. These are coming out in conjunction with the new Glitter Off base coat. Check out all the swatches after the jump.

Dance Legend Candy Flakes Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have another Dance Legend Collection to share with you! This is the Candy Flakes Collection which is made up of 6 flakie filled jellies. I'm a big fan of flakies but lately I've been kinda burned out on them, this collection pretty much made me fall back in love with them!  Check out all the swatches after the jump!

OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection Swatches

Hi guys!  Guess what's going on today? We're getting the new flooring in our kitchen and living room, woohoo!  So excited for this, we're getting laminate wood flooring, it's going to be such a nice change from the hideous linoleum that was previously in the kitchen and the fuggo carpet in the living room. Pretty sure Degen is going to be the biggest fan of it, it's going to be like a whole new world for him when he's running around after toys haha!

Today I have the Muppets Most Wanted Collection from OPI to share with you. This collection serves as OPI's Soft Shades Collection for 2014 and it's coming out in conjunction with the Muppets Most Wanted movie that comes out this Friday! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Zoya Spring 2014 Awaken Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have the Awaken Collection from Zoya for Spring 2014 to share with you. This collection is all kinds of perfect for Spring, full of shimmers and cremes in a nice almost pastel palette! I was excited about this collection mostly because 3 of the shimmers are similar in finish to one of my favorite Zoya polishes, Zuza, and they didn't disappoint! As always, if there are any comparisons you'd like to see for this collection let me know in the comments! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

OPI Glitter Off Review

Hi guys, happy weekend! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm just doing my normal nail polish stuff and maybe going to see a movie or something Today I have a review of OPI's new Glitter Off base coat for you! I was pretty excited about this, it's a peel-able base coat that makes removing glitter polishes a breeze!

Glitter off applies white and milky and dries clear in about 5 minutes or so, depending on how thick of a coat you use. I tried this with thin and slightly thicker coats to see if it affected wear and didn't notice it making much of a difference either way. This does dry from the edges in so it looks almost like it's shrinking, not even going to lie I thought I did something wrong the first time I tried it. I was like " what is with all this shrinkage" lol

Once Glitter Off is dry you apply your polish as normal and when you're ready to take your mani off you can just peel it off. Sounds pretty fantastical right? I'm a bit on the fence about this because of the wear I experienced but more on that later in the post.

Here is the brush, it's a nice semi-wide brush. It's a bit smaller and shorter than the normal OPI Pro Wide brush.

A lot of people have been asking if this is a glue base and how it compares to them...I can't say how it compares since I've yet to try out the glue method.  I can tell you that based off the ingredients, yes...it is pretty much just a glue base coat. As you can see the second ingredient is "Polyvinyl Acetate" Polyvinyl Acetate is fancy speak for PVA which is what most glues are made of. You can read all about it over on Wikipedia!

As far as wear goes with Glitter Off I have mixed feelings. The first time I tried this with a Nicole by OPI glitter. I applied it around 2pm and went about my day, washed my hair ect. When I woke up the next morning all of the polish on my index finger had popped off. I still haven't found it in my bed lol!

I tried Glitter Off again with one of the Nicole by OPI Roughles polishes. I wanted to see if wear would be any different with a polish that wasn't only glitter. Good news, wear was much much better. I wore that mani for 5 days and had no issues with any polish popping off and didn't even experience any chipping until I had worn it for 4 days. Removing that mani was a breeze, it peeled off easily.

Now the 3rd test...this time I used another full glitter, a Salon Perfect polish I haven't yet reviewed! Unfortunately I had the same experience as I did the first time with Glitter Off. Not even 24 hours after applying the polish all of the polish popped off my index finger in a sheet. It actually happened while I was sitting at my desk at work :( I purposely applied this mani after I had taken a shower so I could see if maybe washing my hair had caused the polish to come off the first time...since it happened again I'm going to go ahead and say washing my hair had nothing to do with it the first time. I wonder if I'm somehow harder on my index finger than the other ones...weird that it popped off that finger both times!

Overall I am meh about this...it almost works TOO well. I want my polish to come off when I want it to come off, not just randomly in the middle of the night or while I'm sitting at my desk typing away. The 2 times I used Glitter Off with a regular glitter polish I didn't even get a full day of wear out of it. I'm definitely going to use up the bottle I have but I don't think it's something I'd re-purchase.

Glitter Off will be available March 2014, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail.

OPI Sheer Tints Collection Swatches & Review

Happy Friday! Today I have the OPI Sheer Tints to share with you. I posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday of my crazy need to swatch pile and a bunch of people said they wanted to see these! The Sheer Tints are very sheer jellies, they can be used for pretty much anything. You can wear them on their own, use them for jelly sandwiches, layer them over other shades to create a new look etc.

Since I pretty much hate how my nails look with sheers like these on their own (forever jealous of you ladies who have nails that look good naked!) I decided to do skittles instead of each polish on its own. I kinda like this look, it ended up being a bit Easter-y! The formula of these was a little challenging, I found them to be a bit thick and gooey. If you plan to wear them on their own you will need to thin them a bit and wait a few minutes between coats. If you are using these for other things, like nail art or jelly sandwiches I don't think you'll have as many formula issues, though I would still recommend putting a tiny bit of thinner in.

I used 3 coats of each of the sheer tints over 2 coats of Butter London's Nail Foundation for the skittles below.

Index- I'm Never Amberrassed
Middle- Don't Violet Me Down
Ring- Be Magentale With Me
Pinky- I Can Teal You Like Me

Lighting: Shade
I also decided to see how these would look as a jelly sandwich, they all work really well for them! I sandwiched my skittles with OPI's Chasing Rainbows.

Lighting: Shade

Overall I like these, I think it will be fun to play around with them.  I'm looking forward to trying out some nail art with these, I've been dying over the gorgeous mani that Victoria from Serum No. 5 created with these, you can see her mani here!

Sheer Tints will be available March 2014, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer

As a little surprise I'm going to be giving away a set of the Sheer Tints. This giveaway is open internationally. Please use the rafflecopter widget below to enter.

Giveaway ends at Midnight PST on Friday March 21st. The winner has 72 hours to respond to my email before a new winner is picked. Full giveaway terms & conditions are located here

KBShimmer Spring 2014 Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have KBShimmer's Spring 2014 Collection for ya! This collection is split up into 2 parts, the glitter & holos and the cremes! This is the first time KBShimmer has offered cremes and I gotta say, I was pretty darn excited about them before I even saw them. I love when indies release cremes since they typically work hard to perfect the formulas and it makes applying them a breeze! As a whole KBShimmer has is 16 polishes in total for us this Spring, 8 cremes, 1 glitter topper, a holo, a holo top coat and 4 crelly glitter. This collection is balanced really nicely with a good mix of spring shades along with great basic cremes that are gorgeous on their own and as base for pretty much any glitter! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection

Hi guys! Hope you're all having a good day, mine is much better than yesterday. I went to the dentist and got my crown re-cemented and I got my teeth cleaned since I was already there. It was pretty painless! Unfortunately they also found a cavity I need filled but I didn't get that done last night, I have to go back for it :(

Today I have the Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection for ya. This 4 piece textured collection is probably my favorite collection that has come out for spring this year. These are unlike any of the other textures I have, they are creme with different flecks of matte shimmer in them. These are unique in my collection and the pastel shades are just really doing it for me right now! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Zoya Monet Swatch & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend, mine was good and bad. The good was the NailGlossip chat on twitter last night, we did a Q&A chat and it was probably the most fun I've had since we started. The bad is/was that I somehow broke a crown on one of my molars. I was eating dinner Saturday night and felt it shift, then on Sunday it came out :( Unfortunately that means I get to go to the dentist today...I am not happy about it. I hate teeth...I wish I could just not have them but still be able to eat and not look weird without having to have dentures or something like that.

Anyway, I have Zoya Monet to share with you today. This came out along with their Awaken Collection for Spring, I'll be showing that soon. Monet is an iridescent hex glitter topper in a sheer pink base. The pink base is very sheer, I don't think you could ever work it up to being opaque. This looks good over pretty much any color, I decided to layer it over black (Dance Legend Nox) for this post because it stands out so well over a dark base.

The formula of Monet left something to be desired. It was very thick and gooey, the glitter coverage was ok but because of the gooey base it was a little hard to get it to stay on the nail. I ended up thinning it a little and it helped...sort of. I think you'd need a lot of thinner to de-gooey this and there just wasn't enough room in the bottle to make that happen :) This is pretty but it gets a pass from me because of the difficult formula :( I used 1-2 coats of Money over Dance Legend Nox for the photos below, some nails were 1 coat others were 2 coats.

Lighting: Shade

Lighting: Shade

Monet is available now at Zoya.com, it retails for $10.

Dance Legend Wow Prism Collection Swatches Part 1

Hi guys! Today I have the first half of the Dance Legend Wow Prism Collection to share with you. This collection is pretty large so I decided to split my swatches in half! These are all gorgeous scattered holos that have a chunkier holo than other polishes we've seen from Dance Legend. These are very reminiscent of the scattered holos Zoya has done recently, like Dream and Payton. If you liked those Zoya polishes you'll love these, I know I do! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Seche Spring 2014 Perfectly Poised Collection Swatches

Happy Friday! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? The kitchen and living room are getting painted this weekend so I'm hoping once that's done the rest of the kitchen remodel will go by quickly. Let me just tell you, I am very tired of making everything in a microwave sitting on a concrete floor. Countertops and actual appliances will be a welcome sight once they are installed lol!

Today I have the Perfectly Poised Collection for Spring 2014 from Seche to share with you. This collection is pretty much Spring perfection with soft pastels, a nice nude polish and a good sunny yellow. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Guess what today is? It's Degen's birthday!! Degen turns TEN today, most people don't believe me when I tell them how old he is, he still acts like a puppy most of the time...you'd only be able to guess his age by the bits of grey he's been getting in his face. Degen will probably be having a grand old time today, he's been going to doggy day care the last 3 weeks and they are going to have a little doggy party for him (I'm kinda jealous lol). After I pick him up we'll probably go to PetsMart so he can pick out a toy then I bought him a piece of doggy cake from a dog bakery! I seriously celebrate my dogs birthday more than my actual birthday...that's totally normal...right?

Today I have the Sea Goddess Collection from China Glaze to share with you. This collection features 6 new textured polishes, some are normal glittery textures and some are a bit of a creme/glitter hybrid. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

piCture pOlish Midnite Meteor

Hi guys! Today I have the last of the new collaboration shades from piCture pOlish for ya. This one is called Midnite Meteor and it's a collaboration with Do Beauting! I hadn't heard of Do Beauting before getting this polish, I really love that about these collab shades...sometimes I discover great blogs through these that I hadn't heard of before! To read Do Beauting's post about her collaboration shade check out her post here!

Midnite Meteor is a navy blue with a subtle scattered holo. The holo was subtle but more visible in person than its showing in the photos. The formula was fantastic, it was easy to work with and super opaque. I used 1 coat for the photos below!

Midnight Meteor is available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.

piCture pOlish Pirouette

Hi guys! Today I have another one of the new piCture pOlish collaboration shades to share with you. This one is called Pirouette and it's a collaboration with Tenshi No Hana. You can read her post about the polish here, it's in french but google translate is a wonderful thing!

Pirouette is a medium pink with a subtle scattered holo. The holo is subtle but not too subtle, it's easily visible out in the sun and in bright indoor lighting. The formula was great, I loved the consistency and the opacity was great. I used 2 coats for the photos below, both photos are in natural sunlight.

Pirouette is available on the piCture pOlish website, along with at their network of etailers all over the world like LlaroweHarlow & Co and Nail Polish Canada. For a full list of etailers all over the world check out the piCture pOlish website here.
