OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend! Mine was good, watched a lot of football and got some nail stuff done which was nice! Today I have the Fifty Shades of Grey Collection from OPI to share with you! I was excited about this collection because I love grey polish! I haven't actually read any of the books so I couldn't care less about that aspect of the collection haha!

Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Cement The Deal is a light grey creme. The formula was good, it was a really nice consistency and easy to apply with great opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Dark Side Of The Mood is a dark grey with blue undertones and a very slight pearl shimmer. The shimmer in this is very very subtle, it's hardly visible even in direct sunlight. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer on the 1st coat but it built fairly easily and was opaque in 2 coats.

Embrace The Gray the a medium grey creme. This is a couple shades darker than Cement The Deal. The formula was good, again a really nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

My Silk Tie is a silver shimmer. This is a touch on the frosty side and it does show brushstrokes, even after drying down. The formula was good, it was easy to work with and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Romantically Involved is a red creme. I guess OPI just didn't release enough reds with Holiday 2014 so they gave us another one haha! Jokes aside its a nice pop of color in an otherwise monochromatic collection. The formula was nice, it was a nice consistency and had good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shine For Me is a silver and blue glitter. At first I thought this would be a glitter topper but it was pretty easy to get opaque on its own. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with good glitter payoff. Depending on how you polish it's a 2-3 coater, I used 3 coats plus top coat for my photos.

  5. Cement the deal & embrace the gray are gorgeous.
In person the romantically involved appeared to have almost an orange undertone but your swatch is gorgeous!!

  6. Great photos as always! I've been so excited about Cement the deal but I ordered it and it looks more like Embrace the Grey. Are the bottoms of your bottles green or black print? Mine are black but I didn't think OPI used black anymore. Thx!

  11. These look really nice. I think Embrace the Grey is one of my faves, could actually see myself wearing it.

  12. I also love the colour grey, but this group left me completely indifferent. Grey is a very tricky colour for us - ahem - older ladies to wear, it can age the hands INSTANTLY. So I was disappointed - grey is a chameleon colour that can be shifted from warm tones (griege?) to the cool steely-blues, and when you think about silver + glitters as optional additions, the possibilities could have been endless.... oh well. Not every collection can be a Skyfall collection!

  14. thanks for the swatches! I bought cement the deal and really like the concept of dark side of the mood but it looks green in the Ulta store where I saw it. It looks so much better than your swatches so I may take another look. Thanks so much.

  18. Most of these colors are pretty boring (lovely pictures, though, as usual), but I do like Shine For Me. It reminds me of Sinful Colors Ice Dream.

  21. Black bottles of new OPI are usually press bottles, retail bottles are typically green. How strange that you got black ones!

  25. You got the best part of 50 shades of gray with this collection, the books are terribly written lol. You aren't missing anything:) Great swatches. I really like the glitter one, always fun to have a glitter you don't have to layer every once in a while!!
