Zoya Naturel Satins Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Naturel Satins Collection from Zoya to share with you! This collection is a transitional collection that is meant to ease you from Winter shades to Spring shades. The collection has a really gorgeous neutral palette that I'm a big fan of. These are what Zoya calls a Satin finish, they dry down to a finish between glossy and completely matte, what Zoya calls "Low-Sheen". I was hoping they would be like the MatteVelvet polishes since they are some of my favorites, unfortunately they aren't but if you enjoy semi-matte polishes you might like these. Check out all the swatches after the jump.

Formula wise all 6 were relatively easy to work with and had nice opacity, however I did have some issues with them not wanting to level out so I'd recommend being careful with application so you don't end up with streaky uneven looking nails. I let all of the polishes dry for 15-20 minutes before photographing them, some dry down faster and more matte than others. I did notice that most don't have a smooth satin finish, instead they look a little bumpy...it's hard to describe but you can see what I'm referring to in some photos. I used 2 coats, no top coat, for all the photos in the post.

Ana is a pink toned beige. Zoya describes this as a lightly toasted almond color.

Brittany light pink toned mauve.

Leah is a lavender tinted taupe. Depending on the light it leans between grey and lavender grey, it's an interesting shade.

Rowan is a brown toned taupe.

Sage is a dusty sage green.

Tove is a dusty blue/grey

Overall I don't really care for the finish, they kind of look like cremes that are crying out for a coat of top coat but that's just my 2 cents. I think I would have liked these a lot better if there had been some kind of shimmer to them to help them look more interesting when they dried down. That aside, I really enjoy color palette of the collection and can see myself using these, with top coat, in the future. My personal favorites are Leah and Sage.

Zoya is available at Zoya.com, each polish retails for $9

  1. I love the color of Leah and Tove and the bottles are gorgeous, but that finish is just not my thing.
Either make them shiny or make them matte, this in between doesn't do it for me.
    Shame...

  2. Beautiful swatches, thanks for your review! I agree that the colors are pretty, whereas the finish is odd.

  3. Oh wow... I don't care for these at all. I was in love when I thought they were matte. I'm kind of glad my salon hadn't gotten them in yet when I decided to purchase them over the weekend. Thank you for the swatches!

  4. Don't care for the finish either, but I might keep an eye out for Brittany. With top coat, it'd be a lovely barely there color for when you need to go conservative.

  5. I totally agree with you. I love the delicate colors. I was a big fan of the first couple of Naturel collections that were beautiful cremes. But these satins are just not doing it for me. The bumpy finish sort of reminds me of wall paint. Sage color is my personal favorite also.

  6. I actually really love the colours, but I'm meh about the finish. I agree that shimmer would have made these more desirable. I'd love to see these with topcoat.

  7. Very nice and natural for everyday wear these are.

  8. I'm not really loving these, the colours are nice but the finish is blah. I guess it's money saved for other things.

  9. Could you do another picture with maybe a few nails top coated and some not to compare the difference? Not all the colors, but maybe your favorite. Did you try to you coat while you were swatching? Did it go well if you did? Also, will you be showing/comparing Essie's line of satin for spring. I love their colors more then these...wonder if the formula is better. Love your work!

  10. Sage and Tove are my picks. I think they would look great with a flakie/shimmer or holographic topper.

  11. I'm sure other bloggers will be showing them with top coat, I don't have time to re-swatch them to show them that way...sorry! I don't have the Essie polishes so I'm not sure how they compare

  12. Did you use a base coat with there? Just curious if that makes a difference.

  13. I do have to say I'm a little disappointed with ZOYA recently. I, along with a number of others, bought polishes almost a month ago, and they haven't even been shipped!! I called and asked an got the response that sometimes it takes 5 weeks and they'll do it when they get around to it.
I'm operating on the assumption that this group of polishes you reviewed was promotional, and while I'm excited that bloggers o follow get free things :), I must say that I am disappointed that they prioritize promotional materials so far over paid orders....

  14. Shipping after sales is always delayed due to the volume of orders, pretty sure it says that in the fine print of their offers. Sorry you're upset, hope you get your polishes soon

I completely agree with you, these just look like polishes before their top coat. Kinda boring...

  16. Yeah, sigh, I agree with you. This collection just isn't what I hoped it would be- it's like they're nice, but I thought they might be a BIT more unique? Not sure. Leah is nice, though, so I might pick that one up just to give them a try. :)

  17. Oh definitely! I'm not going to request a refund or anything, but I'm still disappointed in their choice to not see to paid orders first.

  18. Am I going crazy or is there some kind of super tiny shimmer in these? It looks like there are some super fine shimmer particles...or maybe it's the texture of the finish? I have heard the finish described many ways but someone said "pebbled leather" and I was like OMG NO. Is there a three dimensional texture to the finish?

I was hoping for these to look like pearls - matte but with glow. The colors are soft and pretty...but...I feel like I need to see the finish in person.

I have a code for a free shade from this collection right now (as does everyone who participated in the NYNH/3 FREE promo) so I think I'll give Leah a try.

Me too - I would have also loved more shades in the Matte Velvet range.
Those are my favorite matte polishes ever! I even have a backup of
Savita bc it is The Precious. XD

  19. There is a macro photo at the end of this post which shows Tove with shiny top coat, with no top coat, and with matte top coat:

It's not my blog/no affiliation. Just trying to help a fellow polish lover out. :D I hope it is okay to post this link as a comment/reply. If not, I apologize and please feel free to delete my comment. *unsure*

  20. Me too! I was hoping they would look like glow-y matte pearls which would have been epic in this color palette. I'm still feeling a strong urge to see the finish in person though so I think I'm going to get Leah with my one-free-Satin code. If the finish isn't for me there is always top coat! :D Leah is such a lovely color!

  21. I don't feel like my nails always need to enter the room before I do! I'm sold on the quiet sophistocation of the color palette. I'll wear these all Winter.

  22. I have been waiting years for Zoya to make a color with my name. They finally do, and it's the most blah thing I've ever seen. Maybe with some top coat it would look a little more interesting? Regardless, I'm not loving this muted/neutral trend they've been into lately.

This happened to me with the promo that happened after the Earth Day promo. And i was so mad. I called them too.

But then i pre ordered the Wishes polishes and it came right away

  24. I have to disagree with most of you...I love the muted semi-matte finish! They're unique but understated at the same time. And the shades are lovely.

  25. Considering many people like to see real swatches before they decide to purchase and what to purchase, I think it makes perfect sense to see that the bloggers get theirs first
