China Glaze Spring 2015 Road Trip Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys!Today I have the China Glaze Spring 2015 Road Trip Collection to share with you! I'm excited to have finally gotten my paws on these! I saw a display out at Ulta about 3 weeks ago and was loving how the shimmers looked. For Spring this year China Glaze has a road trip themed collection full of light pastels and brights plus some really pretty shimmers. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Boho Blues is a light periwinkle creme. The formula was nice, I didn't have any issues with application. It was sheer on the first coat but opaque with the second. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Dashboard Dreamer is a very light blue with a pinky orange shimmer throughout. This kind of reminds me of Sinful Colors Cinderella but much more opaque. I do wish the shimmer was a little more obvious but when it peeks out its gorgeous. The formula was a little difficult, it was patchy and streaky so patience is needed with application. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

I Brake For Color is a coral creme. This is right in the middle of orange and red and didn't lean too much in either direction. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with nice opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

License & Registration Pls is a blue creme. This is a nice medium blue, its a little bright but not too crazy. The formula was alright, it was a bit sheer at first but built up to full opacity in 2 coats. I really like this color but it seriously refused to dry on me. This was the polish I swatched last so I could wear it and when I woke up the next morning (with a good 10 hours between application and going to bed) I woke up with sheet marks. What the heck!

More To Explore is a peach creme. This is one of my favorites of the collection, I always forget how much I enjoy peach polish until a new one comes out and I'm like YAS! The formula was a bit on the thick side and streaky on the first coat, It did level itself nicely though. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

My Way Or The Highway is a teal creme. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with nice opacity, it also looks a little squishy once its on so that was nice. I did not experience any staining with this but I would recommend 2 coats of base coat just in case. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Pack Lightly is a light pink toned peach with a very subtle golden shimmer. This is a bit lighter and more pink than More To Explore. This one was a disappointment for me, the shimmer was so pretty in the bottle but it just does not translate on the nail no matter what lighting I tried to see itin. The formula was ok, it was streaky but more opaque than I expected. I used 3 coats plus top coat to completely even it out.

Pinking Out The Window is a medium pink creme. This is one of those pinks I don't think I'll like but then once its on the nail I end up loving it because its such a flattering shade. The formula was good, I had no application issues and the opacity was nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Pop The Trunk is a bright orange creme. This is very bright but nowhere near being neon. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Sun's Up Top Down is a sunny yellow with yellow shimmer. The shimmer is pretty hidden in this polish also but it does come out a bit out in the sun. The formula was on the thick side, there was some minor streakyness but not as bad as a lot of yellows can be. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Trip Of A Lime Time is a yellow toned green creme. This gives me pea soup vibes haha! The formula was ok, it was a nice consistency but on the streaky side. I used 3 coats plus top coat to even it out.

Wanderlust is a light lavender toned pink with golden shimmer. The shimmer in this one is also on the hidden side :( The formula was ok, it was a nice consistency but streaky. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Overall I like the collection but the shimmers were a bit disappointing since most didn't translate very well to the nail. My picks from the collection are Pinking Out The Window, More To Explore and Dashboard Dream (even though I wish the shimmer was better!)

The China Glaze Road Trip Collection is available now, I've already seen it on the shelves at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply!

Darn it!!! I wish those shimmers were more apparent and application was better. I've had my eyes on them. Beautiful, nonetheless.

  3. I have these (or most of them) and I haven't worn them yet but I just love the colors. You're right, I'm never excited about peach polish until I see a new one! LOL

  4. Hidden shimmer just shouldn't be allowed, lol. Give us the shimmer! I love all the blues and peaches.

  5. Awww I have been totally coveting Wanderlust and am so disappointed about the lack of shimmer. It looked so amazing in the bottle:( Oh well. The cremes in this collection look pretty amazing!

  6. I thought the same about Dashboard Dreamer looking like an opaque version of Cinderella. I wonder if I layered Cinderella over it, perhaps that would help it to be more shimmery? :)

  7. I have all of the shimmers, boho blues, and Pinking out the Windows. I completely agree on the shimmers... I wish the glitter was more pronounced.

  9. I've had the same problems with China Glaze not drying properly as of late, mostly in the non-glitters.

  13. I Brake for Color is definitely my kinda shade! Sad to hear of the formula issues on a lot of these, that bums me out especially since their last few collections have been so good.

  14. I made my selections shortly after seeing the early swatches and am delighted with the 6 I chose. Really no complaints as to formula or pigmentation and I think Boho Blues is going to be my new "go-to" periwinkle!
