Essie Cashmere Matte Collection Swatches & Review

Happy Friday! Good news, Degens teeth cleaning went well. He didn't have to have any teeth pulled but the vet did find a little cyst under his tongue so they had to biopsy it to make sure its not cancerous. Fingers crossed its nothing serious, poor guy has a few stitches in his mouth while it heals though.

Today I have the Cashmere Matte Collection from Essie for ya! Originally I wasn't going to get these, none of the swatches I had seen really spoke to me...but then I saw them in person and the shimmer in a few of them did me in. I decided to grab all of them because well...reasons. The Cashmere Matte Collection is made up of 6 matte finish polishes, 4 of them have a gorgeous blue shimmer and 2 are cremes. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

All Eyes On Nudes is a dark tan creme matte. This one has no shimmer in it. Based off the bottle I thought I'd really enjoy this one but it just isn't working with my skin tone :( The formula was alright, it was a bit more thin than I personally prefer and it was streaky at first. I used 3 coats to even it out and get it fully opaque.

Coat Couture is a blue toned purple with blue shimmer. The shimmer when the polish is matte is pretty subtle but it really comes out to play if you decide to add a coat of top coat. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Comfy In Cashmere is a taupe-y base with blue shimmer. This is my favorite of the collection when its matte, something about the base color and the shimmer just does it for me. Like the previous polish the shimmer tends to be subtle when matte and more vibrant with top coat. The formula was good, it was easy to apply but a little bit sheer. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Just Stitched is a baby pink base with blue shimmer. Like the others the shimmer is subtle while matte and more noticeable with top coat. The formula was good, it was a good consistency with nice opacity but it was a little uneven. I used 3 coats to completely even it out.

Spun In Luxe is a black base with blue shimmer. This one is the one that got me in the bottle, I don't like it as much on the nail but I still enjoy it. The formula was ok, I found it a little hard to control but the opacity was good and it was opaque in 2 coats.

Wrap Me Up is a creamy beige creme. This one is a nice neutral but it doesn't do much for my fair pink skin tone. I think it would look fantastic on a deeper skin tone. The formula was alright, I found it to be on the streaky and uneven side. It was opaque in 3 coats.

The Cashmere Matte Collection from Essie is available now! My picks are Comfy in Cashmere and Coat Couture.

  6. I loved just stitched so much with topcoat. I actually had a custom made by Anonymous Lacquers so I could use it with my Gelibility for gel manis. The matte didn't play well turned into gel.

  7. I have Wrap Me Up and I had the same problems with it being streaky and uneven. I think I have to go back and get Comfy in Cashmere tho, it looks beautiful with the top coat!

  12. I feel like nobody is really paying attention to this collection, nice to see them swatched here! The shimmer in some of them is really lovely. Curious if they'll pop up here, might score some on sale once they take them down ^^.

  16. I don't usually wear polish long enough to gauge wear time but mattes usually don't have great wear time :(

  17. I'm glad to see this collection swatched with a favorable review to accompany them. I've heard some dreadful things about the formula and was bummed because it's a really pretty collection. Now I'm thinking of grabbing one or two to try out myself.
