OPI 2015 Soft Shades Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the 2015 Soft Shades Collection from OPI to share with you. I don't think there is any specific theme with these like there has been the last couple of years, at least that I know of! The collection this year contains 2 sheer cremes, 1 shimmer, 2 glitters and a frost. Normally I'm not a big fan of sheers like this but these are just doing it for me right now...maybe its because I've been wearing a lot of bright polishes lately...I dunno. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Act Your Beige! is a light off white beige. This is sheer but it can build up to being opaque. The formula was good, it wasn't streaky and it leveled really nicely. I used 3 coats for the photos below, there was a little visible nail line after 3 coats but not enough to bother me.

Chiffon My Mind is a shimmer white. The shimmer is blue/purple, it is subtle but its more visible in person than it looks in photos. The formula was ok, I found it to be a bit streaky but it did level out nicely after 3 coats.

Make Light of the Situation is a glitter topper full of iridescent glitter. I kinda love this one, especially over the Act Your Beige! which is how I swatched it below. It is seriously gorgeous in person, something like this would be a gorgeous wedding manicure!  The formula was good, it was easy to apply with fantastic glitter payoff. I used 1 coat over Act Your Beige! for the photos below.

Petal Soft is pale pink and white glitter in a clear base. There are small hex's, medium hex's and flower shaped glitter in here. You do have to fish a little bit for the flowers but there area lot in there so it was easy to get them out. I used 1 coat over Put It In Neutral for the photos below.

Put It In Neutral is a light pinky beige. This looked a little darker in the bottle than it ended up being on the nail, I think maybe with a coat or 2 more it would have gotten to that shade. The formula was good, it is sheer but easy to apply and the polish self levels nicely. I used 3 coats for the photos below, there was some visible nail line after 3 coats.

This Silver's Mine! is a gold/silver frost. On me this leans very much towards gold, kinda made me scratch my head about it having silver in the name haha! Personally I don't care for this, frosts like this just aren't my thing. The formula was ok, it does leave brush strokes (they do not calm down once the polish is dry like some frosts do) I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall with the exception of the frost I really enjoy this collection, the cremes and the shimmer are nice palette cleansers and the glitters are really nice. My picks are Petal Soft and Make Light Of The Situation.

The Soft Shades Collection will be in stores in April 2015!

  1. How lovely, I'm crushing on pastels this season so this collection is just the thing!

  2. These are nice and soft! I really like both glitters.

OK so I am sold on two of these!!!
I like the sheer cremes. I am still looking for another like Funny Bunny since mine disappeared but the Beige in this is SO pretty and I love the pink.

But I am with you on not being a fan of frosts. I thought I was the only one since people seem to always want them

  4. Hi Jen, thanks for these swatches! Normally I DO like frosts and pearl finishes (I know they're not in vogue currently), but in this case, even I think the brushstrokes with "This Silver's Mine" are unacceptable . I'm thinking you'd have to choose carefully with this collection with your individual skin tone in mind or you might be disappointed.

  5. I love the flowers in Petal Soft! So cute!

  6. I had on 'My very first Knockwurst' and tried on 'Put it in Neutral' over it, and couldn't see the difference.

  7. They are completely different finishes so they aren't what I would call dupes
