China Glaze Desert Escape Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have some Summery goodies from China Glaze to share with you! This is the Desert Escape Collection. It's made up of 6 new polishes, 4 of them are cremes and 2 are shimmers. This collection also gives us two new nail art kits. One kit features 3 of the polishes from the collection along with temporary tattoos and the other is 3 polishes and a black striper. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Don't Desert Me is a vibrant pink with a pink flash of shimmer. This can lean a little frosty but the brush strokes do tend to dry down. The formula was good, it was easy to apply with a good consistency and opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Don't Mesa With My Heart is a cool pink creme. The formula was good, it was a touch thick but in a good way, not a hard to manage way. The opacity was also good, it was a 2 coater.

Meet Me In The Mirage is a coppery/rose gold shimmer. This is a bit of foil finish to it. I really like the color of this, its more coppery in some lights and more rose gold in others. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Rain Dance The Night Away is an aqua creme. Not the most unique color but the formula was pretty great. It was very easy to apply and had great opacity. I used 1 coat plus top coat for the photos below.

The Heat Is On is a vibrant red creme. The formula was good, easy to apply with nice opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

What's She Dune? is a beige-y nude creme. I really liked this polish with my skin tone and it will be a good base for nail art or glitter. The formula was good, it was a nice opacity and not streaky. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Desert Escape Collection is available now, see below for availability.

·         The individual shades sold as open stock colors will only be available on LockAndMane.com.
·         Sally’s will only carry select nail art kits but they will not retail the individual colors.
·         Ulta is not carrying this particular collection.

  1. Hi Jen. Nice swatches, as always, thank you. :)
I'd like to know: I've read a few other reviews that seemed to say that "The Heat is on" was more on the "crelly" side, and left somewhat of a visible nail line with 2 coats. Do you agree? It is not super obvious from your swatches, I must admit... (meaning, it did not look that way for you)
Also, how would you say that "Meet Me in the Mirage" compare to either Orly-Rage, OPI-Rally Pretty Pink or China Glaze-Hey Doll? I wonder...
Thank you in advance for your insight.

  2. To me it seemed like a creme, I didn't have any opacity issues. I haven't done any comparisons for these (haven't had time), sorry!

  3. Yeah I must admit I thought of orly rage when I saw Meet me in the Mirage. Lovely swatches

  4. Thank you for the info on the creme/crelly texture... I must say I love the colour, but wasn't sure about a crelly consistence... I don't like a visible nail line.
For the comparisons, I was just curious if you had an idea, but I can sure figure that you have a lot of colours in your stach, so that it doesn't necessarely come to mind easily. :) No problem...
Thank you again. Love your blog, really!

  5. Great swatches! I really like What's she dune? :) Thanks a lot :)

  6. I love Meet Me At The Mirage.

  7. How would Rain Dance the Night Away compare to UV Meant to Be? They look pretty similar to me just from the pictures.

  8. Great swatches, but the collection is kinda meh to me. And irritating to only be sold as kits at Sally's.

  9. How does Rain Dance The Night Away compare with Capacity To See Beyond? CTSB's formula left a lot to be desired for me but I love the color so much!

  10. So disappointed that neither Sally Beauty Supply nor CosmoProf are carrying the collection. Does anyone know of a local (meaning GTA) store that will be carrying the collection/open stock? As a nail polish addict, I must have "Meet me in the Mirage" lol. Love the colour "Don't Desert Me" but it looks like Caribbean Temptation that I already own by China Glaze.
