Crème à la Mode Box Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was no bueno for the most part. You know how on Friday I was saying I was so excited to spend the weekend in my nice AC? Well, it died...again. I swear its like groundhog day at my place with my AC...right when you think its fixed its like LOLNO and dies. My Dad thinks that the problem this time is a slow leak in the line for coolant that goes from the compressor to the unit in my house since its literally the only part of the entire unit that hasn't been replaced at this point. Hopefully its an easy fix, however knowing my luck with this it won't be.

Enough of that...on to polish! Today I have the Crème à la Mode Box to share with you. This is a brand new box with contributions from 4 indies brands each offering up a creme shade. This is going to be a quarterly box with on trend creme polishes for the season, the theme for this first box is Fall. I was pretty excited to try this out, not only because I love cremes but because 2 of the brands in the box are ones I haven't had a chance to try but that I've heard great things about! The 4 brands in this box are Digital Nails, Literary Lacquers, Octopus Party Nail Lacquer and Indigo Bananas! Check out all the swatches after the jump, buying info is at the very end of the post!

Digital Nails Tauping Mechanism is a grey taupe creme. This is a great neutral that I think will look good on a variety of skin tones. The formula was good, it was a touch thick in a good way that made it easy to apply and very opaque. Depending on how careful you are with application it could be a 1 coater pretty easily. I ended up using 2 coats for my photos below.

Indigo Bananas Dark Side of Maroon is a maroon creme. I like that its on the dark side but its not so dark that it looks black. The formula was good, it was a bit thinner than I personally like but application was easy. The first coat was a little patchy but it was completely opaque with the second coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Literary Lacquer Bluestocking Romance is a dark blue creme. This leans more towards being a denim blue than a navy blue. The formula was fantastic, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with great opacity. I used 1 coat for the photos below.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Universal Loner is a bright red creme. I've heard great things about the brand and was excited to get to try out one of their polishes. Well, I wasn't disappointed! The formula was really nice, it was a good consistency and flowed onto the nail nicely. The opacity was also good, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

The Crème à la Mode Box will be available at http://cremealamode.bigcartel.com for $26. The pre-order for this first box goes from today August 17th to August 23rd. If you miss out on the box or just want one and not all 4, no worries because all of these will be available from the individual makers after the boxes ship!

  3. I am sooooooo sick of hearing about your condo woes. This is a nail polish blog, not a FML blog

  4. Oh no, the AC, again?!! I'm so sorry to hear that!! And it was crazy hot this weekend.
    Grab bags?😆
Funny just this weekend I was like, " I'm over glitters, holos, jellies, crellies. I'm going back to cremes." This box is just what I'd like right about now. Awesome, fun, creme colors! ....Which I will immediately coat with glitters.😒

  5. lol hopefully it won't cost and arm and a leg this time so I won't have to sell off my polish again :P This box sounds perfect for you, I'm the same with cremes and glitters. I crave a creme, so I put one on then I'm like I NEED SPARKLE and immediately glitter it

  7. You do realize you sound like a complete and total....well. You get the point. Ahem. Unless you are prepared to start writing Jen pay checks and providing health insurance and a retirement plan, she can pretty much blog about whatever the hell she wants to because (drumroll please) FREE SERVICE. Yup. Ain't nobody forcing you to fork over a dime. Or to read her blog. Or to comment. So look at the pretty pictures that someone has been kind enough to provide for your free entertainment and stuff that snippy attitude under a rock somewhere.

  10. So, it's a free country and you are entitled to your opinion, but, she wrote 5 sentences about her continuing bad luck with her A/C. It's not like the whole post was about it. I actually find it interesting since 1) hopefully in the next couple years I will be in her shoes and it's nice to hear about the good and bad things (both planned & unplanned!) that come with being a new homeowner and 2) it helps me get to know Jen a little bit better as a person, not just a blogger. If it doesn't interest you, don't read it. It's not that hard. But don't post a nasty comment, that's just mean & unnecessary.

  12. It's crazy the way Jen forces you to read her posts right!?....oh wait

  13. Like I said to Renee, no one is forcing you to read my blog. That fact that both of you choose to come onto my blog and complain about what I write about is kinda sad. Don't you guys have better things to do with your time? If you don't like what I write don't read it. Excuse me for being a person who has other things going on in their life besides nail polish that I choose to talk about on my blog. Any more rude comments will be deleted. Have a nice day.

  14. You mean you don't hold a gun to peoples heads forcing them to read your blog? I thought thats what all of us bloggers did...well this is awkward now

  15. This is Jen's blog, and Jen can talk about whatever she wants to share on her blog. Jen doesn't owe you anything. If want to look just at "NAIL POLISH" go look at swatches on Google or IG. Don't read a personal blog where people dare speak of something about their lives that isn't nail polish.

  16. Renee you know what they what goes around comes around may karma have a special place for you. You know where the door is don't hesitate to use it. Some people read blogs not only for the polish but they want to know the actual person behind it and actually care about people not just polish. Grow up start your own blog and please make sure to leave the comments open and a link

  17. feel free to start your own blog. As a long time reader I enjoy hearing about the bloggers as well otherwise you could just look at an ad.

  18. While I love holos, it's nice that there is a box for just cremes!! These all look really beautiful!! It sucks about your AC, but hopefully all of your home issues will be out of the way and then you won't have to deal with anything for a long long time!!

  19. This is HER blog. Not your personal "nail polish" blog. There's so much stupid here I think explaining it to you might be akin to trying to smell the color 9.

  20. Oh look! Another special snowflake that doesn't understand that this is HER blog not your very own "nail polish" blog. Maybe Instagram is more your speed? If you can figure out how it works that is.

  21. "smell the color 9" = actual LOLs for real

  22. I love that this box is just cremes! I love cremes! These are all really pretty colors! I missed the window on this one, but will have to keep my eyes peeled for the next one!
