NCLA Holos Swatches & Review

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I do! Tomorrow is my birthday (and my Grandma's birthday) so I'm gonna have some family time and hang out with friends. Today I have a bunch of NCLA's holos to share with you! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Formula wise all 10 of these were fantastic. They are super smooth and easy to apply with a really nice consistency. All of them had good opacity and were completely opaque in 2 coats. The holo in these is a bit subdued, they look more holo in the bottle than they do on the nails. The holo is super smooth looking but tends to look more scattered than linear. I used 2 coats, no top coat, for all of the photos below. All photos are in natural sunlight.

Drop of Teal is a teal holo. This leans a bit more to green than blue. I had no staining with this shade.

From LA To Anywhere is a grey holo. This leans to a silvery grey which I like, I don't have a ton of holos this shade of grey.

Iridescent Dreams is a pink leaning lavender holo.

Lightyears Ahead is a silver holo. This was the most holo of the polishes in this post, much more than it looks in photos!

Mermaid Tales is a dusty blue holo. This is my favorite of the bunch, its such a gorgeous dusty blue and the subtle holo hits the spot.

Out Of This World is a dark purple holo.

Redicalist is a pink leaning red holo.

Spaced Out is a really saturated blue holo. This holo in this one was a bit disappointing, it looked awesome in the bottle but just didn't translate onto the nail, probably because the base is too opaque for it. I also had a bit of staining with this one so it's one I'd double up on base coat with.

Teal The End is a dark teal holo. This one leans much more blue than the previous teal.

Vacation On Mars is a dusty silvery lilac holo.

Overall I like these but I wish the holo showed up on the nail as fantastical as it does in the bottle. The NCLA Holos can be found at, each polish retails for $14.

  1. How does Lightyears ahead compare to Butter London Dodgy Barnett? I like yours photos.

  2. I don't own that Butter London, sorry!

  3. Just a little too pricey for the results for me to shell out for these, but thank you for the swatches!

  4. happy birthday!!! :-D i love your swatch photos of this collection- they are absolutely gorgeous! i really like that dusty blue... but after ordering many indie holo polishes lately, i think i've decided i'm not a super huge fan of the holo right now. it seems like they're all doing it like crazy. (i just put on a holo polish from powder perfect that i ordered a month ago). i love it, in the sun they are amazing! but i feel like we're getting a lot of holos from all the indie brands this year. i'm missing the good ol' glitter mix with crelly base lol.

  5. I was wondering how Lightyears Ahead and Vacation on Mars compare to A England's Fonteyn and Encore Margot.
