First Impression Friday: NailNation3000

Hi guys, quick disclaimer before I get into todays post. If I seem more negative or down than usual in this post I apologize. It has been a hell of a week. Degen severely injured himself on Wednesday afternoon and had to have surgery on his neck last night to fix a protruding disk between his c2 and c3 vertebra. He came through the surgery ok, thankfully, but to say I have been a wreck because of stress would be an understatement. I feel like it has probably seeped through into this post, since it was half written like a month ago and then finished this afternoon while I was waiting to hear about Degen's surgery.

Today I have some goodies that I picked up from NailNation3000 to share with you. This brand has been on my need to try list for a long time, I've always heard good things about their holos. THey sell a ton of products other than polish, everything from cuticle oil to striping tape and nail art brushes. I ended up picking up 3 polishes and a cuticle oil.

I placed my other on 1/4 and everything arrived on 1/9 so the turn around time was fantastic! The polishes arrived in a bubble mailed and the polishes were wrapped in bubble wrap. The cuticle oil was double wrapped in bubble wrap which was nice. There was also a small bag of rhinestones as a freebie in the package.

I did want to mention that while the shipping experience was good I had a heck of a time navigating their website, there is a lot of stuff on it and its all just there in no kind of order. There was like 9 pages like that and it almost turned me off buying at all to be completely honest. There are tags on each listing but when you click them it takes you to that tag for everything listed on Storeenvy (where their storefront is hosted) instead of everything just on their site with that tag. It was confusing and like I said, just hard to navigate.

Check out everything I got after the jump!

#BrownShuga is a chocolate brown base with a subtle holo and shimmer. This one disappointed me a little bit. There are no swatches of this on a person on their store, only bottle shots which you can see here, so I was expecting it to be more holo than it ended up being. Aside from that the formula was good, it was a nice consistency and applied easily with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

#CaptainCamo is a deep green with golden shimmer. This polish is a suede meaning to dries to a matte finish. This ended up being my favorite of what I picked up, its gorgeous both with and without top coat (though I did personally prefer it with top coat). The formula was good, it was easy to apply and had good opacity. It also dried down really quickly. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Below shows the polish with top coat.

Let's Play A Game is a holo topper with multicolored glitter. I did try this on its own just to see if it could build up and gave up after 3 coats haha. The formula was good, like I mentioned it was sheer but thats fine for a topper. I used 2 coats over Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris for the photos below.

Last up is the cuticle oil I got. You can get these in either the aqua bottle I got or in a pink bottle and they are both in rollerball form, you choose the color of your packaging when you buy. There are only 6 scents available (wish there were more) so I got Warm Vanilla which I unfortunately don't really care for, I usually love vanilla but this one is a little strong for me. It won't stop me from using it though because I actually really love the oil. It sinks in super fast, faster than any other oil I've personally tried!

Overall I'm kinda meh on what I got, I really like CaptainCamo and the cuticle oil but don't love the other 2 polishes. NailNation3000 is on the expensive side so I don't see myself shopping with them again, unfortunately. NailNation3000 can be found at http://nailnation3000.storenvy.com/

  3. Thanks for the review. I have tried looking at their website and I agree that it is kind of a pain to navigate. I have never bought anything from them either but it's good to know about the oil!

  4. I haven't had good luck with Nail Nation polish. Seems one use and the next time you want to use it it's thick and unusable. I tried to thin the green NN polish for wearing on St. Patrick's Day but gave up......it's probably my least favorite brand.

  6. I think NailNation3000 has a lot of great colors, but I would agree about the site-- it's a total pain in the butt to navigate!

  8. I hope everything turns out okay with Degan, best wishes for a fast recovery little guy!
I actually really like that brown polish, and I usually hate browns, haha. Not sure I'll buy anything if they're pricey but it is pretty. Wonder if anyone else has a dupe?

Thank you for such an honest review. Nice colors and they look great on you! I hope Degen comes through everything with flying colors! The poor little guy.....every time I see an ad for Bark Box I see him playing with all his goodies!! He's such a little sweetie.

  12. I wish Mr. Degen a speedy recovery! I have a dog, too, I understand how important he is to you and how much you love him. I love my girl very, very much. Get well soon, Degen!!!

  13. Hi Jen, it's only natural that you might be feeling a little down right now. Between Degen's issues and the recent loss of your grandmother, it might take you a little while to truly feel like yourself again. (Nail polish helps!!) By the way, I'm confused enough about some of this internet and technology stuff -- I don't need a website that's confusing even to techies! That's one of the reasons I don't shop at Born Pretty Store -- not to throw shade at them, but besides the visually complicated website, I can't be left waiting 12 weeks for my order. (What do they do -- row by canoe across the Pacific Ocean??) I sure hope you feel better soon -- the nail community is here for you, as you know! <3

  14. Totally agree on NN3000. I ordered from them once, the polishes were okay, but they also sent me two minis, one of which stained my nails bright orange! Also the website was awful. The good thing is with so many indie makers, we have a choice and don't have to spend our money where we don't get good enough value for it.

  15. I didn't know you were back from your hiatus until today. I'm so sorry about your Grandma, I've been a reader of your blog since 2011 or so, and she has popped up in your posts from time to time, so it seems like you guys were close. And now, poor Degen! Hope he recovers quickly! Sorry you are having a rough month, hope it gets better soon.

  23. I agree completely about the website: it's really really difficult to navigate and I'm never sure if that's Storenvy or if it's just lack of organization on the shops behalf. I have several of their polishes and while they are very pretty, they aren't as SHAZAMMM! as I am hoping for, based on the photos.
