Illyrian Polish Winter Is Coming Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have the Winter Is Coming Collection from Illyrian Polish to share with you! This polish is inspired by Game of Thrones and has a nice range of finishes from glitters to holos and shimmers. I don't watch Game of Thrones but I do enjoy all the collections inspired by the show because the colors tend to be right up my alley! Check out all the swatches after the jump.

A Dragon Is Not A Slave is a murky green base with a scattered holo and gold and purple micro flakes. I like this one a lot, its an interesting green both because of the base color and all of the holo and flakes going on. The formula was good, it was sheer but buildable and easy to apply. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

For The Night Is Dark And Full Of Terror is a dark blacked purple with a flash of violet shimmer. The shimmer was a little more subtle than I was expecting by how it looked in the bottle but you can see it depending on the lighting. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer but it built easily. I used 3 coats but you may be able to get away with 2 depending on your application. This dried down a little bit dull. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

I Don't Need Saving is a dark dusty purple with a flash of blue shimmer. The formula was not my favorite I found it to be a bit thick and tricky to apply. It was ok on the first and second coat but the third coat was difficult and a little gooey. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

My Sun and Stars is a crazy glitter full of copper, silver and violet glitter. There are also some ultra chrome flakies floating around in there. This one was so sparkly that my camera was like NOPE so I apologize for the slightly out of focus shot, after about 100 photos this was the best I could get. This is my favorite polish of the collection, the colors in here are interesting and it looks really neat on the nail. The formula was good, it was sheer but it builds easily. You can wear this on its own or as a topper, I prefer it on its own! I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photo below.

Never Forget What You Are is a teal holo with a touch of violet shimmer. The formula was really nice on this one, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I did not have staining with this but it is the type of teal that you'd want to use a couple coats of base coat with. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Nothing Burns Like The Cold is a blue jelly base loaded with blue glitter. This one is a stunner in the bottle and on the nail, it was the one I was really drawn to when I saw the collection for the first time. The formula was ok, it was sheer but buildable. I didn't have issues at first but as I applied it got a bit thick and hard to manage. This does dry down with some texture so you may need 2 coats of top coat to completely smooth it out. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

Winter Is Coming is a smoky blue/black base with silver holographic glitter and flakes and blue iridescent flakes. This is another really interesting polish, it almost looks like a galaxy on your nails! The formula was good, it was sheer but buildable and easy to apply. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

You Know Nothing, Jon Snow is a light taupe base with a flash of red/pink shimmer. The shimmer was a little subtle in this one but visible out in the sun. The formula was good, it was sheer but buildable and easy to apply. This did dry a little dull so you'll want to top coat it. I used 3 coats plus top coat for the photos below.
