Nine Zero Lacquer A Peculiar Star 2.0 and May 2016 Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Today I have a couple new polishes from Nine Zero Lacquer to share with you!

First up is A Peculiar Star 2.0, this is a blue jelly base filled with blue holographic and silver holographic micro glitter. This is a reformulation of one of my favorite polishes of last year, A Peculiar Star. Jess had to re-imagine this shade due to a supply issue with the glitter that was previously used. Happy to say that this version is just as gorgeous as the original, though fairly different. The formula was good, it is sheer due to the jelly nature of the base but it builds easily and has a ton of depth to it when fully opaque. I used 3 coats plus top coat for my photos.

This does dry with a little texture from the glitter but was smooth for me with 1 coat of top coat.  I would suggest a peel off base with this, removal can be difficult because of the glitter.

For reference here is the original version of A Peculiar Star. I still love this polish, hopefully Jess will be able to re-make it one day!

May 2016 is an aqua blue holo with silver holographic micro glitter sprinkled in. This was much more linear holo looking in real life, I'm still trying to figure out a way to capture holos well with artificial lighting. Any tips are welcome in the comment section! The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats plus top coat for the photos below.

A Peculiar Star 2.0 and May 2016 are available now at NineZeroLacquer.com, A Peculiar Star 2.0 is $10 and May 2016 is $11.

  1. i am glad to hear A Peculiar Star has been reformulated. i was very disappointed in the final result of the last version, although i loved the color. i have a barely used last year's version if you want it (free of charge). and thank you for your reviews and swatches, they really help with decision making with some of these online-only purchases!

Based on your photos alone, I like the new version SO much more!

Great swatches! :) For holo shots indoors I find turning off all the lights in the room and using my camera flash only works best
