OPI Summer 2016 Retro Summer Collection Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice weekend! Today I have the Retro Summer Collection for Summer 2016 from OPI to share with you! This collection is 6 cremes and it will be available both in regular polish and gel color for those of you that do gel manis. I really like this collection, the colors are a little dusty but still bright at the same time! Check out the swatches after the jump.

Flip Flops & Crop Tops is a medium pink creme. The formula was really nice, it was a great consistency and applied nicely with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

I'm Getting A Tan-gerine is a light dusty orange. This is my favorite of the collection, the color is the most interesting of the bunch. The formula was good, it was a nice consistency and easy to apply. There was some minor streakiness on the first coat but it was easily covered with the second coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Sailing & Nailing is a light blue creme. The formula was ok, it was easy to apply and the opacity was good but it was a little patchy. I used 2 coats for my photos but depending on your application you may need 3 coats.

SPF XXX is a red toned orange creme. This is a little more dusty in real life than in photos. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and easy to apply with good opacity. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Towel Me About It is a light dusty yellow creme. Its kind of a light banana yellow, I think this will be an easy to wear yellow for a lot of skin tones. The formula was good, it was a good consistency and applied nicely with good opacity. There was minor streakiness on the first coat but not nearly as bad as you'd expect with a light yellow. I used 3 coats for my photos but depending on your application you can probably get away with 2 coats.

What's The Double Scoop? is a light bubblegum pink creme. The formula was ok, it was easy to apply and had good opacity but I had some issues with it not wanting to level out (you can see it a little on the middle nail in my photos). I used 2 coats for the photos below.

OPI's Retro Summer Collection will be available in stores like Ulta in June. OPI retails for $10 ($12/50 CAN)

  2. That's a nicely balanced range of colours for a summer collection. I particularly like that first medium pink, the colour intensity is gorgeous! :)

  3. Pretty colors but I'd blind buy them all just hearing the name of the collection, Retro Summer. Awesome. Flip flop & crop tops, I'm getting a Tan-gerine and SPF XXX are my favorites. Beautiful swatches as always.

  6. I like the SPF XXX -- nothing terribly unique in this collection - tho it's a nice group of colors.

I just want anything you swatch! Yikes! That's why I get so many similar colors. But that doesn't stop me...

  10. Great swatches. I really like flip flop and crop tops and I'm normally not a fan of pink. My fave is tan-gerine but I have more than a couple polishes like this. How do you think it compares to Is Mai Tai Crooked from last summer? I feel like a lot of companies summer collections this year look like remakes of last years collections.

  13. These are beautiful, but mostly things I've seen before. I would love to see a comparison between I'm Getting a Tan-gerine and Zoya Cole, if that's possible!
